Then next is my Vampire Romance

Go Sandra, Go Sandra! LOL! Glad you're enjoying WL. I know you'll like ONFTG! >:)

So I've finished Wicked Lovely and enjoyed it. The world building was just like now but with added faeries. But these are nasty faeries, even the good ones have hidden agendas.
There wasn't a cut and dried HEA which I thought boded well for the rest of the series. I will continue reading to find out what happens next, though I'm not desperate to know.

This is the 2nd book in the Cat & Bones series and I just loved it. The story starts 4 yrs after the first bk and we find Cat still killing vamps but now for the govt not just herself.
Bones has been looking for her all that time and fortuitously finds her in the unlikely spot of each being groomspeople in a wedding party. Who knew they each had friends who would hook up.
Then its just a matter of Bones convincing her to give him a chance. Along with much vampire badness and assasination attempts and some very good news right at the end.
Can't wait for the next book!!

Review: Carriger's unique sense of humor shines throughout the book and kept me up reading long past midnight. Alexia's search for answers to the "infant-inconvenience" is the main focus of the story and it quickly becomes a scramble to stay ahead of vampire drones and attacking ladybugs. My only real problem is while I know Carriger's work edges into the steam-punk arena, certain scientific explanations gave me a headache while figuring out the meaning behind them. I know realistically scientists and inventors would talk to each other in exactly those terms, but I still feel that Carriger could have found a way to better integrate these conversations into the storyline. Thankfully, there were only a few spots where I had to deal with these. My response to Conall's behavior is below for those who do not wish to be spoiled. Overall, I enjoyed the read and Carriger's books are still on my must-buy list.

Conall's behavior. Tsk, sigh. While not exactly spot on, I don't think it was entirely out of keeping with his character either. He's impulsive (werewolf you know) and proud, so his first reaction to Alexia's pregnancy is outrageous but not unbelievable. Ideally, he would have realized his mistake before Alexia took two steps out the door, groveled and resolved the entire issue with a long night behind closed doors. I do agree with Professor Lyall, Conall knew early on that he was wrong. But . . . did I mention he's proud? Rather than deal with the real issue, he got drunk and stayed drunk, most likely thinking Alexia would still be there when he worked up the nerve to see her. Even drunk, he managed to send someone to protect and watch over her. When they finally see each other again, did anyone really believe he would admit to his mistake without a great deal of coercion? I know I've mentioned he's proud werewolf already. In a typical Conall manner, he greets her as if everything is normal. Well, normal for someone being chased by homicidal drones and ladybugs, kidnapping Templars and vivisection-happy mad scientists. He's published a very public apology after all. LOL. As for Alexia, she understands her husbands mindset very well and relief over knowing her husband believes in her takes precedence over making him pay. Very practical and English.

I had forgotten about the "SOS bookshelf book" option and Sins of the Heart is resting there, so ..... One more free space read DONE! :)

I had to read this book for NetGalley, but it wasn't a chore at all. I really liked it. The story contained a lot of mythology and, of course world building, but it was all done in a way that was interesting and painless to the reader.
The two main characters were both interesting and easy to like. We are rewarded with a hot hook-up and a HEA, that will hopefully survive their conflicting "roles". Danas' relationship with his brothers was an interesting one since they didn't grow up together, but have bonded over their life with their father, the Lord of Chaos. His brothers are a hoot and I look forward to reading the rest of the trilogy about them and their HEA.

so, I finished reading Dead in the Family and I love the Sookie series, but was disheartened by the ending in this book.
The story, while good, just was not as exciting as previous books, but it was very enjoyable to get to find out more about the history of Eric and Bill and get to know more about Claude. I gave it 4* Not one of my favorit Sookie books.

PS: Don't forget to add your date read. Thanks!

I really enjoyed this book. It had a Supernatural (TV show) feel to it, but it was different enough to keep me wondering what was going to happen next.
Dru is a self-sufficient 16 yr old who lives with her father. They travel around hunting things that go bump in the night. When her father doesn't come home from a hunt, she finds herself at a loss as to what to do next. Even though she's always been stronger on her own (or with her dad), she finds herself becoming friends with a boy from school. Together they try to find out what's happened to her dad. Along the way they both learn more than they bargained for.
I'm anxious to read the other books in the series. I like it when I start a series that has add'l books out to read without having to wait long for another release. Makes me :)

This is the third book of the series and along the way we find out a little more of the secondary characters such as Vlad & Mencheres.
We go from the usual vampire assassinations to Cat's father nearly killing her and that's just the beginning of the book.
Various power sharing, deaths, takeovers, zombies & Egyptian "Goddesses" later we come to the crux of the book - Justina is coming to like the "filthy animal", Bones after he once again saves her life (surely only for Cat's sake).
Glad I've got the next one in the series to read.

For my vamps-weres pick I choose Dayhunter by Jocelynn Drake. I reread Nightwalker over the weekend to refresh my memory on what's going on in the series.

This book contains 4 short stories set in the world of Anne Bishop's Black Jewels Trilogy and should only be read by those who have read at least the first 3 books. You don't need to read the 4th book as it has nothing to do with the events in this book. **Warning** If you haven't read the first 3 books there could be possible SPOILERS in this review.
The first story in Dreams Made Flesh is called "Weaver of Dreams" and my interpretaion is its about how the dream weaver spiders came to be. Out of all the stories this one shortest and less interesting. A little because it was a tad confusing at what time this occured, before all of the Blood were created or at that start of when Jaenelle (Witch) was made into existence. It was beautifully written with very dark descriptions but I was a tad confused of the timeline.
"The Prince of Ebon Rih", is about how Lucivar and Marianne met, I enjoyed finding out about the progression of this relationship.
"Zuulaman", the third story, for me this was an awesome story, but I am a bit confused as to
why, if Saetan has such power, why he couldnt use it to destroy Dorothea and get his sons back. However he does have an awesome power and I liked reading more about him.
The fourth and last story is "Kaeleers Heart", and is about the events that occured between Jaenelle and Daemon after Book #3 in the trilogy, for those of you who wanted more closure after that book this one ties up a few loose ends. I must confess I am getting quite bored with Jaenelle and Daemons relationship problems. But if you are a big fan of those two you will love this story too.
Bottom line this was a good "fix" for my Anne Bishop addiction but I am wearing thin on the Jaenelle/Daemon relationship. They were more fun when
in the earlier books.

But I need the date you read it, please.

LOL! Yep, we're bookin'. hehe Good Job, OFTM! :D
Good choice, Sevie! I have really enjoyed that series. Initially they were frustrating for me b/c of all the drawn out tension between Mira & Danaus, but the last two books have been fantastic, IMO. I hope you enjoy the series.

read 11/02/10 4-stars (more like 3.7)
Dayhunter picks up immediately after the events from the first book.
Most of the book is set in Venice, Italy. We meet several other vampires, including the Coven and a few more weres. The plot moves along nicely and is still not too predictable with lots of twists and turns. We find more out about Mira's powers and why Jabira has not killed her yet. It seems everyone has their own agenda and a lot of secret (or not so secret)alliances. We still do not have a clear line of who is good and who is bad. Mira and Danaus' relationship seems to have taken 2 steps back and that is really frustrating. I don’t think she even straddles him once in this book. To make it even worse there is a scene where Mira and a new character get way way too close that has me mentally yelling 'NOOOO!!!!! DON'T DO IT!!!!' I didn’t even like the new character and was kind of hoping he would be killed off. I was also a little disturbed at Mira’s character reaction to Rowe, a little out of character from the first book I thought. Not enough to ruin it, but it had me saying "What?!!"
Movies typically don’t remind me of books but I can’t help thinking "Underworld" especially when describing Mira (besides her red hair). Bottom-line there is enough action to make it a quick read but the lack of sexual tension between Mira and Danaus left me feeling a little unfulfilled. However, I will definitely be reading the next in the series.

Review:JSR does a wonderful job of creating characters that are complex and realistic. It's easy to believe they have a life off the page and don't just exist for the scenes they are written into. She's gifted the vampires of WVMP radio with complete personalities and quirks all their own.
In this book we learn a little more about the history of The Control. I love JSR's imagination; the experimentation with vampirism carried out by this group is unique but exactly what you would expect from this type of shadowy government agency. I also enjoyed learning more about Shane's past and family.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and will definitely read the next one.

Review: The bones for a terrific story are here, unfortunately it fell a little short. I think the author intended us to follow Lucinda's footsteps on the path of discovery. Unfortunately, I got there before Luce and felt that for a supposedly smart girl, she was a little oblivious. Luce and Daniel's love is a tragic romance. How do I know that? Because the author, through Daniel, told Luce so. Not because I felt or saw it in any of their interactions. Overall there is great potential here, enough that I will probably give Tainted a try.
Currently reading Healer's choice and should finish tonight. Then will move on to Dead End Dating for the vampire read. Should finish it tomorrow or Wednesday (if it goes after midnight).
