message 401: by Frank (new)

Frank Almost all movies have enough success to 'want' to be in it. I highly doubt that the movie is going to be huge, it's popular among readers, but movies are a whole other thing.

Anyways. RDJ may be filming something else around that time, or maybe he will have something else going on. Who knows?

I kind of hope well-known actors don't show interest; especially for the parts of Katniss and Peeta. They should get unknowns.

natalie | 5047 comments I rather have RDJ than JM. 10000x more.

If a well known actor is cast as Katniss or Peeta, I will be very, VERY annoyed.
If Jayma Mays is cast as Effie, I will write hate-mail to the casting agents.
Basically, this movie needs to be perfect.

message 404: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments >:)

I will be extremley annoyed, also. But I disagree on Jayma Mays.

message 405: by Jia (new)

Jia | 170 comments RDJ, I think is filming at the time THG is supposed to be filming. I agree with Jessica, I would die if Jayma Mays is cast. Effie looks so much different in my mind. I haven't seen one decent Katniss in all the internet. Collins and Ross themselves said that they would be fine having an unknown playing the main parts. Collns even said that she would rather prefer an unknown. I agree.

message 406: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah, Collins knows what she's talking about. :)

message 407: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Colllins wrote the script so I honestly don't think the script will be that bad. I'm more worried about the actors.

message 408: by Jia (new)

Jia | 170 comments It's just good script and bad acting = bad movie. :(

message 409: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Collins knows what she's talking about, and she wrote the script, but unfortunately she has very little control over the casting.

message 410: by Frank (new)

Frank Kate wrote: "Collins knows what she's talking about, and she wrote the script, but unfortunately she has very little control over the casting."

Yup. I don't know the situation 100%. However, most authors get books published by selling the rights to a publisher. So, Collins may not have any true say in what goes on in the movie unless the director/people who bought the rights want her to.

message 411: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments I refuse to have any expectations for this movie. If I do, I'm just going to be disappointed. You all keep saying that this movie has to be amazing and perfect. Likely? If we all think that, we're all going to hate it. Regardless of who's cast (and I do have to hope it's not the people practically begging for the parts), we should give them a chance. They may surprise us. And it's highly unlikely that the people we would cast will actually be cast.

I really hate being like this about anything, and I'm not usually, but the more hope we have for this movie, the more we're going to hate it.

message 412: by Frank (new)

Frank I really want the movie to be good, but you are right Taylor, the odds are against it.

To be honest, there are only two book series that I think were really well done that came from books. Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter. Most other adaptions don't really stand out.

message 413: by [deleted user] (new)

I totally agree!

message 414: by Jia (new)

Jia | 170 comments Yeah, Annabeth a brunette? And they're all 16? What?

But, I don't want the movie to be bad either, like I wasted my money or nothing.

message 415: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I get to renew my PJO movie rant soon. :) We're reading the book in class and then watching the movie and comparing it.

message 416: by Sacha (new)

Sacha (supersonicsacha) I would die if anyone from Twilight is in this movie. It will be ruined if they are. This movie better not disappoint the book.

message 417: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Thank you for those words of wisdom. you guys read my thoughts.

WHAT? So not fair. I think the most modern thing we read this year is Lord of the Flies.

message 419: by Jia (new)

Jia | 170 comments To Kill a Mockingbird for us. But book club starts in spring! Yay. We get soda and snacks and books. :D

message 420: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh I have to read that in High school. I'm kind of excited but my sister told me that we read a TON of boring books too. :/

message 421: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Off subject!

I don't care too much of the apperance, but they have to have the same personality or it's a total deal breaker. Sure, apperance is a bonus. But Grover being African-American didn't really bother me. He looked different, but he acted like Grover, and that's the important thing.

I agree with standards. To get a good reaction, we have to have low standards. We already know for a fact that the movie isn't going to be as good as the book, so I don't think we should care that much. I like having my own thoughts on a book, and we shouldn't let a movie ruin it.

Does that even make sense?

Nicee. Yeah our teacher gave uis the choice between The The Odyssey and TLT. And well, guess which one was chosen. Only two people (me and another kid) were u;p for doing either- we're also the one's who've read PJO already. :)

NO! LIFE OVER!
Lionsate have approached Alex Pettyfer in regards to the role of Peeta :(

message 424: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! i do NOT want him to play Peeta!!!!.

message 425: by Jia (new)

Jia | 170 comments NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. I will murder someone if that happens! My friend and I were talking about that yesterday, and she was like "I saw 'I am Number Four' and the guy-" And I said "Alex Pettyfer?" "Yeah, him. I think he'd be perfect for Peeta." "No. No. No. [Insert name here], that's impossible. I will murder someone if that happens." "Why [my name goes here]? I think he's pretty hot." "Umm for one his face is too pointy, and he's too skinny." "Skinny? So now you're saying that he's supposed to be s fat baker boy who eats cupcakes and cries in denial?" "Exactly, if this happens then it'll be Twilight all over again. Girls just obsess over Taylor Lautner because of his abs. They'll say (high girly voice) 'Oh My Gawd. Alex Pettyfer is so hunky.'" "So you do think he's hunky." "No. Arggh. I think he's butt ugly." "GASP! Oh no you didn't." "Yes I did. And I think he'd make a better Finnick." "Yeah, yeah. It could go both ways." So we closed that conversation and talked about other characters.

message 426: by Frank (new)

Frank As much as I don't like it, I am willing to give him a chance.

Hes more Jace then Peeta.
Peeta is supposed to be little/boyish/stockish/cute/innocent looking.
Everything Alex is not.

message 429: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments @chandloski-I don't like Lord of the Flies, not because of the symbolism, but because it just doesn't feel right to me. I don't know exactly what it is, but it just doesn't work, and none of it seems believable. Then again, I've only read the first six chapters, but if you're six chapters in and don't like it....
Golding did a very good job on it, and he was probably a genius, it's just not the book for me.

@Rae: One of the English teachers (he's awesome) does the Odyssey, which is another book I really want to read, but unfortunately I'm not in his class, although I LOVE my teacher.

Back on topic, I agree exactly with what Jessica said about Alex Pettyfer being Peeta/Jace. I think he would make a bad Jace....but he would be an AWFUL Peeta.

message 430: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments @Kate. nicee. I've been going to a public school my whole life and so there's been Greek Mythology units most every year- but at my current (private) school, they've not done a unit on mythology (i was surprised) so we're doing a sorta "intro to Mythology" thing before we start to read percy.

On Topic: I really don't have an opinion on Alex. I haven't read I Am Number 4 or seen the movie yet, so....yeah. This was a pointless post. :)

message 431: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments My school's public, but the way they do English 9/10 is that it's a two year course, mixed freshman and sophomores, and each year, there's a list that the teachers can choose from to read. It's a very LONG list, I think, but most of the teachers do more or less the same thing...except for that teacher. So, when every other class read Macbeth, they read King Lear, and they did the Odyssey and things like that, etc.
I've done mythology practically every year since fifth grade, but that's because I'm in Latin. By now, I know more about mythology than most mortals should know, but only in sixth grade was it part of the regular curriculum. We had a short mythology unit in English that year, which involved very little other than reading about two myths and then writing our own.

message 432: by Jia (new)

Jia | 170 comments Okay, this is boring me. I should be doing a book report, but I wanna wait until after House of Anubis. Oh, the dude from that show, who plays Mick. Bobby Lockwood! Stocky boyish blonde newcomer who is 17. Okay, have I posted on here about him yet? Because tell me if I have, but I think have, but anyway he would make a decent Peeta.

message 433: by Allyssa (new)

Allyssa | 67 comments Ian Sommerhalder has beautiful eyes. And ya rdj would be a good Haymitch. Maybe Greg Kinnear for haymitch.

Agreed 140%. His eyes are GORGEOUS.

message 435: by Allyssa (new)

Allyssa | 67 comments Greg Kinnear for (maybe) Caeser. The announcer.

Isn't Alex Pettyfer in Beastly?

message 436: by Jia (new)

Jia | 170 comments Yes, he is. I don't like him. Ian does have pretty eyes.

message 442: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments I haven't seen him as an actor yet, so I haven't formed that opinion. But I will say that he's cute. He was so sweet when I saw his interview on Ellen. Even though she made him take his shirt off. :P

message 443: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Hahah, I love watching Ellen. It's hilarious. And me either. Not seen any of his movies yet- but he's in Beastly, right? Cause my friends and i are gonna go see that.

message 444: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments I know. Ellen is just hilarious.

He is Kyle in Beastly. I keep telling my mom we need to do what my uncle calls a "Double Header" at the theatre... Go see I Am Number Four and Beastly on the same day/weekend.

WENN

"The Hunger Games" films are beginning to take shape. According to EW.com, Oscar nominees Jennifer Lawrence and Saoirse Ronan are both up for the coveted lead role of Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming movie adaptation of bestseller "The Hunger Games." The website reports "Kick-Ass" star Chloe Moretz and Emma Roberts are also in contention for role.

Bing: 'The Hunger Games' movie

A source at Lionsgate, the company behind the picture, told EW.com that as many as 30 actresses have either met or read for the role, including "True Grit" star Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin of "Little Miss Sunshine."

I am sad.

message 447: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Chacnes are slim we're going to have a good Katniss :(

message 448: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments It is going to be either Emma Roberts(ew), Jennifer Lawrence(too old and was just nominated for best acctress, so no!, Chloe Moretz(too young), or Saorise Ronan(doesn't look like Katniss, and I just see her as the girl from Ember, or the girl who get's killed. She seems to like to do popular book movies. Oh! And shes's going to be in a new movie, Hanna)

Can't you see this disaster?!

message 449: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Emma Roberts could pull it off, I think. She wouldn't have been my first choice, but I guess I could see her more than the others.

My hopes keep falling.
