I think they did a pretty good job of explaining things for people who hadn't read the books though with the salute, I went to see it with my sister who had only read a tiny bit of the book and my friends who mostly hadn't read the books and they didn't understand the salute and had to ask what it meant.

I thought there was plenty of violence and blood actually, though I agree the shaky camera was annoying in some parts. I thought it was a pretty good movie even though they changed quite a few details and the characters were different to how I had pictured them even though I only started to read the series about a week before the movie.

kathrine (scarlettshea) | 391 comments Ya the camera thing was annoying... I saw the movie twice and my friend invited me to go with her again!

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Here's the thing: A lot of people were complaining about how they didn't explain everything to the viewer. While some things like Effie's name or Katniss' dad are a done deal, and we simply won't know their names or history in the movies, some of the things were left out so that the audience could draw their own assumptions. Not everything is handed to you on a plate during the movie, and I enjoyed that.

kathrine (scarlettshea) | 391 comments Yay! I can't wait for Catching Fire! Ian Somerhalder for Finnick!

literariel As I said in a previous folder, the guy who plays Gale is HOT. If I could, I would hug them to death.

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Hey, so is there going to be a separate topic for Catching Fire? Because I just got caught up on casting news, and I definitely would love to see y'all's opinions. Discussing Hunger Games as it was cast was ridiculously fun, and I'd be happy to do it again.

There ya go :)
This thread is pretty amazing. Back in the initial post, the movie was barely confirmed. Now we're looking for a sequel.

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) I can't wait for the Catching Fire. I'm not sure if the Mockingjay pt. 1 & 2 will be good because the book was disappointing.

Lynne Stringer | 117 comments Just got back from seeing Mockingjay Pt 1. I thought it was a bit slow in places (not surprising when they're trying to stretch a reasonably short book into two movies) but still enjoyable. They almost ended it where I thought they were going to end it. From what I remember of the book, it was also quite accurate, although it's been a while since I've read it.
