Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) I'm trying to plaster my walls, 'cause they're still this ugly blue color I liked when I was six. There's tons of stuff on them.

Only I don't want to go see Puss In Boots. I might end up going with my friend next week to see BD anyways- even though I really don't feel like seeing it...Maybe i could talk him into going to another movie....

message 1166: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Okay, so I just watched the trailer and I am newly pumped for this movie! I think I'll even be okay with Liam as Gale based on his bits in the trailer.

Ditto.

message 1172: by Frank (new)

Frank I can't wait for the movie. I had my doubts at first, back when the movie was announced, but pictures and footage prove that the movie will most likely be decent work.

message 1173: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I felt that same way, Frank. And hopefully I can convince my dad to let me go at midnight.

message 1174: by £mily (new)

£mily (3mily991) | 1107 comments Hopefully, this will be a movie that lives up to the standards of the book. I'm not so sure about liam hemsworth as gale though....

message 1175: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Did anyone get their tickets yet? They went on sale yesterday and all. I got three to the midnight premiere for my mom and brother and me.

message 1179: by £mily (new)

£mily (3mily991) | 1107 comments There is a topic of this book club called the 2nd annual hunger games, then go on a subheading under that called the reaping and create a tribute!

message 1180: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Guys, so apparently a new TV spot for the movie aired today, and I haven't seen it, but apparently the bread scene is highlighted in it. Jennifer and Josh are playing themselves in the scene, but it looks as if they've been aged down for the scene.

message 1181: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
Yes, I have. I really hope its heavily edited, because its an important scene and over in less than 40 seconds. But apart from that I really like it; the characters look good and the music is awesome. Have you seen it?

message 1182: by Chade (last edited Mar 26, 2012 05:26PM) (new)

Chade | 202 comments The movie was great. A 4-star movie. I saw the midnight premiere.

message 1183: by kathrine (new)

kathrine (scarlettshea) | 391 comments Ughhh your so lucky! I wanted to go so bad but the tickets were sold out! But my teacher took my class on a field trip and it was really good. I thought for a
P-G 13 movie there could have been a little more violence. The part when Rue dies was so sad :( I can't wait to go see it again! And own it! I would watch it EVERY day!

message 1184: by Kam (new)

Kam (iamwhowhoareyou) | 924 comments At my school, the 8th graders are reading the Hunger Games as their class book. So they all went on a field trip to go see it. I was so jealous!

message 1185: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) I was blown away by how good it was. I really was. I knew it would be good, but THIS? This is amazing. I especially loved every bit with Haymitch, and how they made Seneca Crane into a main character.

message 1186: by £mily (new)

£mily (3mily991) | 1107 comments Contrary to what most people seem to think, I was actually disappointed by it. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. They changed a lot, like the bit with the Mockingjay pin, and I didn't feel that Rue and Katniss's relationship was fully developed. Also, the camerawork was all over the place, especially in the fight scenes. You could hardly tell what was happening!
I would give it 2.5 stars/5. The acting was good, espicially Jennifer Lawrence/Katniss.

message 1187: by Caity1616 (new)

Caity1616 | 41 comments I agree with all your coments but i still think it was a great movie although, yes, it definitly could of been improved alot.

message 1188: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
The messy camera worked for the majority of it, except for the climax battle with Cato. The bloodbath was supposed to be messy, so that was a nice montage. I didnt care so much about Madge not being in it. The movie was good, not perfect. If it was rated MA, and made 40 minutes longer, then it woul dhave been almost perfect. That 40 minutes should be pure Rue/Cinna/Peeta relationship building.
Haymitch, Seneca, Ceasar and Katniss were all exceptional.

message 1189: by £mily (new)

£mily (3mily991) | 1107 comments If it was rated MA I, along with a large percentage of the audience, wouldn't be allowed in the cinema, so I don't think that would work very well. I agree, it needed to be more violent.

message 1190: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
Yeah I totally agree with all that, its just because of that we got this really messy camera work that meant you couldn't see anything for the fights.

message 1191: by £mily (new)

£mily (3mily991) | 1107 comments That was annoying. Very annoying.

message 1192: by Vishal (new)

Vishal | 76 comments The movie was made for all those who have read the books not for those who haven't. For them it would have dragged a lot and they wouldn't understand the depth and emotion of the Rue/Katniss, Gale/Katniss relationships. They would not understand how much the bread Peeta tossed to Katniss was worth. We did not see the fights. And the movie did not even fill the void left by the book by showing the deaths of the lame guy from 10 and Thrush. The movie was good but they could have shown much much more.

message 1193: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments There were a bunch of things that would not have made sense not having read the books. They never even mentioned Effie's name.

Overall I liked it, but there were some things that could have been better.

My favourite line is after the interview, when Haymitch says "Nice dress" to Katniss, then turns to Effie and says "not you".

i feel like some scenes were a bit rushed, like when Katniss met Rue,though i know that this is a movie,it can't entirely be like the book.
but other than that, and some other tiny things, the movie was awesome :)
i also liked the part where Effie said
"THAT IS MAHOGANY!" haha

message 1196: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments We all said stalker...in unison.

message 1197: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Yeah my aunt & sister were like "stalker" & I was like don't make fun of Peeta. XD

message 1198: by Chade (new)

Chade | 202 comments lol Kyle. I was disappointed with the movie it was very fast-paced. It needed to be slowed down and described much better.

I went to the midnight premiere with my mom. (My mom was tired and she didn't read the book) Throughout the whole movie she kept on asking what is this and what is that. After 10 questions I had to tell her to be quiet and I'll answer her questions later.

That showed how the movie wasn't very descriptive to viewers who hadn't read the books before. I think the books were more well done than the movie itself.

I would have loved more scenes with her and Haymitch. Like "Nice dress...Not you."
And "Hey! Thats mahogony!"
And when Effie was freaking out about the training and Haymitch gave this priceless thumbs up. Classic.

I disagree with some of the stuff about 'made for those who read the books'. Incorrect. It was a good movie in its own right. Two of the people I went with understood most of it (making assumptions about the salute etc..), and loved it. You dont need to read the books to understand.

message 1200: by Brianna (new)

Brianna (briathebookworm) I thought it was great! They changed a few minor details but they stayed pretty close to the book.
