Z. (mizzfictionista) Just found this link on the Hunger Games twitter page.

Thoughts about Chloe Moretz?

message 207: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Does anyone else think she looks like she's five?

message 208: by Z. (new)

Z. (mizzfictionista) I noticed that. She looks much younger than thirteen.

♫♫☺Allie☺♫♫ (alliwicious) | 1115 comments Isn't Katniss supposed to be 16 in the book not 10?

message 210: by Z. (new)

Z. (mizzfictionista) Yes, Katniss is sixteen. Chloe could be Prim instead. :P

message 213: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) If That Chloe chick becomes Katniss I will personally protest the movie (I know I've said that, but still)

♫♫☺Allie☺♫♫ (alliwicious) | 1115 comments Okay.

message 215: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
I hope she doesnt get it.

From what Ive read (cant find any links now), Suzanne Collins has a pretty big influence over the movie. She said that she wants Katniss to be played by an unknowns.
Also, Gary Ross said a very similar thing

♫♫☺Allie☺♫♫ (alliwicious) | 1115 comments Yeah. I can see her as Prim though.

message 217: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) I think Elle Fanning would be the perfect Prim. She's how she's described in the book and a potentially tough little girl.

Google 'Avalon Robbins'

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments for who, Jessica?

EDIT: never mind. She'd make a cute Prim! she'd be great!

message 220: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Or were you thinking her for Rue?

message 221: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
Prim :)

message 222: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah, she'd make a better Prim then Rue.

message 223: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments She would be a very good Prim. Small, sweet, cute, but some backbone involved. Not good for Rue, particularly in looks.

message 224: by Frank (new)

Frank Agreed. I am pretty sure Rue would be one of the harder characters to cast. Compared to Katniss, Gale, Peeta, etc.

message 225: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
Yeah, Rue is going to be very tough to cast.

message 226: by Frank (new)

Frank Jodelle Ferland wouldn't be a horrible choice for Katniss. She fits the age (16). She has also already taken interest in the part.

message 227: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
I disagree. Jodelle Ferland would be shocking for the role. She looks nothing like Katniss, plus her acting talent is just: 'meh'
Theres just something off about her.

message 228: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Absolutely not. She may be the right age, but she doesn't look like she is, and besides not fitting Katniss's physical description, she's altogether too "cutesy" and delicate.

I don't know about her acting ability, but she's not the right choice.

message 229: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
For sure. I cant wait to see who they do eventually cast.
If RDJ is not Haymitch, it'll just be...all wrong.
I honestly cant see anyone besides Robert or Hugh being Haymitch.

message 230: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I don't think anyone else can either though, so I think there is a good chance they might be in it.

message 231: by Frank (new)

Frank RDJ needs to be Haymitch, no doubt about it. Has there been word of them showing interest in the movie though? If not then there is a slim chance that they will be casted.

message 232: by Frank (new)

Frank I am not actually suggesting this, but I saw it on another site and wondered what you all thought.

Someone suggested Jack Black to play Haymitch. I don't really care for his serious roles, but I thought it was worth the thought. Also, RDJ > Jack Blck

message 233: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 2426 comments Hugh Laurie's publicist said he isn't available, and isn't RDJ shooting Sherlock Holmes 2?

Jack Black...
...
*shudder*
Please, no.

message 234: by Z. (new)

Z. (mizzfictionista) I've heard rumors of Alyson Stoner trying to get the role of Katniss. I'd cry if she or any other Disney Channel star got a role in the movie.

http://mockingjay.net/2011/01/30/alys...

message 235: by Frank (new)

Frank The character of Katniss herself would be insulted if anyone Disney related got the part.

message 236: by Frank (new)

Frank This video here is fan made, but it's some of the better fan made stuff that I have seen. The beginning is a little off, but once it got to Katniss and Rue I thought that it wasn't too bad.
There is also a spoiler in the video, so don't watch it if you have not read the entire book.

message 237: by Leanne (new)

Leanne (leanneisperf) ifshe hadn't had so many supporting roles in thelast year, and has done anything outside disney, then maybe, but right now. NO!

message 238: by Leanne (new)

Leanne (leanneisperf) (besides cheaper by the dozen, cuz she was younger then ;DD)

Yep, she wants Katniss. On one hand, I understand that she doesn't want to get typecast as the Disney star. On the other, she just...Katniss...no.

(From her Twitter account , in response to someone)
"KATNISS IS THE ULTIMATE, MY ULTIMATE, DREAM ROLE!!"

chandloski wrote: "Anyway, that's not my point. I guess I'm just trying to say that the casting thing is really starting to gain some traction. People are paying a lot more attention now. "
Mhmm. Definitely. All these actresses posting about it just emphasizes it. Interestingly enough, I don't think any guys have tweeted about wanting Gale or Peeta...

message 240: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Good. Then it will be more about them casting the right person than choosing from the already famous star who wants to be in the movie.

message 241: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Ugh , I just really hope that the cast is good. My friends think that Johnney Depp would be a good Haymitch and I just looked at them with a look of pure horror. Sure, he can do drunk, but that's it. He does not fit Haymitch. RDJ is the one that I want to be casted.

message 242: by Jordan (last edited Jan 30, 2011 05:03PM) (new)

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 2426 comments chandloski wrote: "How do you know what Hugh's publicist said?"

Sorry, I meant to include the source. (Mockingjay dot net , of course. :) They linked to The Hob .

Posted January 27th:
"His publicist told The Hob Fansite:
He isn’t available at this time. He’s filming and there are other commitments stuck in a queue. I wish I could create extra hours in the day."

chandloski wrote: "And Sherlock Holmes has been shooting for a month or so already. THG won't start filming until late summer (I'm guessing, based on what info has been released so far. It sounds like they are still in the early stages of pre-production)."

Very true. I think RDJ could definitely pull off the part.

chandloski wrote: " In my opinion, it's kind of tacky.... "

I agree.

Johnny Depp wouldn't be anywhere near as good as the other two, but I can think of plenty people who would be FAR worse.

message 244: by Miss Amelia (new)

Miss Amelia (missameliatxva) That's too bad. I loved the idea of Hugh.
Other than that, I guess I've got to get used to the idea that there really will be a HG movie. Don't mean to sound like Eeyore here, but I'm not exactly holding my breath. Hollywood has a tendency to really screw with great books. :S

message 245: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments @ chandloski: I can see that. He's not my first thought, but I think it works.

@Amelia: I know what you mean, and unfortunately, you don't sound like Eeyore, you sound realistic. I'm keeping my hopes up for one like Harry Potter or the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe where the details aren't all perfectly exact, but it's still obviously the same story and it's still a good movie.

message 246: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Yeah, but it's better that way because we can get the unknown we want and talent/proper looks instead of "oh! you're in a movie directed towards teenagers. Wanna be in the Hunger Games?"

message 247: by Miss Amelia (new)

Miss Amelia (missameliatxva) That makes me glad. I'm almost hoping Katniss at least, and the principles Gale and Peeta, are unknowns.
I mean, when they first cast Harry Potter, most of the kids weren't the typically famous child-stars of the time. I actually remember kids at school thinking that Haley Joel Osment was going to be Ron or Draco or something, haha. But anybody who's been around for awhile...it'll almost seem like typecasting. Especially someone like Kaya Scodelario. She's too "used" looking to be Katniss, haha!

message 248: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments With Harry Potter, open casting is probably the best thing that happened to those movies. My favorite is apparently the girl who plays Luna wasn't an actress AT ALL before this; she wrote a letter to JK Rowling saying she thought she'd be really good at the part.

Since JK Rowling actually has no say in the casting, I guess she told her to go audition for it.

I think doing it for the Hunger Games would have similarly positive results.

message 249: by Miss Amelia (new)

Miss Amelia (missameliatxva) I know. Power to Evanna Lynch!
:D
