Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Exactly. I'm really sick of all this romantic crap sweeping bookshelves that is the same story every time.

Agreed. Especially... *shudder*... Paranormal romance. I am so sick of seeing all those books :S

Thats why I liked it so much. The romantic aspect was overshadowed by all the other plot points and genres."

Exactly. I could have done without the romance, but I didn't hate it the way I would have if it weren't the way you described.

Me too. And I agree with Jessica, paranormal romance is probably the worst, since there are so many and they're all the same.

message 304: by Frank (new)

Frank I'm a guy, and I really don't like romantic stories. However, The Hunger Games played the romance part very well. I just hope they don't over-do it in the movie.

I'm a girl, but that's exactly how I feel.

message 306: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Yes, it's completely annoying as I love explosions!

message 307: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Paranormal romaces are my favorite >:) But I like all, science-fiction, historical fiction, Harry Potter, all types :P

If anything, they'll down-play the romance, I think.

I actually think they will focus on the romance, more. Movies usually do that to make it "more intresting" It will make more teens see it because it has the love aspect in it.

message 310: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments I just heard something about Emma Roberts as Katniss. No, please.

message 311: by Frank (new)

Frank Yeah, that would be pretty terrible.

message 312: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Absolutely not.

But yeah, I agree that as little as I like it, romance usually gets played up, not down, in movies.

message 313: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah, I love romance (I'm a self-proclaimed hopeless-romantic), but too much of badly written romance is just not good- and you can't have too much of it anyways otherwise it takes away from the story if it isn't a romantic comedy or something of the sort.

message 314: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments "Self-proclaimed hopeless romantic"... Me too!

message 315: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) If by hopeless romantic, you mean I wouldn't know actual romance if it hit me upside the head with a mace, then I'm a hopeless romantic.

message 316: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments By "hopeless romantic", I mean I'm a dreamer who loves a good romance. ;)

message 317: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
Im not :S
Okay, just my two cents. Ignore me :P

message 318: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments It's okay. It's a rather pathetic thing to be, really. Even though it's fun sometimes. ;)

Kate | 8205 comments ★ Jessica ★ wrote: "Im not :S

No, I think I'll hug you instead. No offense to all you hopeless romantics, but I'm sick of love stories.

message 320: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea Northrop (chelserz) this was a great book and now im reading the 2nd one :D

But like Jessica's suggestion of the montage of the US collapsing, the Deathly Hallows started off with something that, while not part of the book, is at least referenced. In both cases, I think those are things that they need to show instead of tell when it comes to a movie, which is why I didn't mind the beginning of the Deathly Hallows and wouldn't mind if the Hunger Games started off with a montage.

message 322: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Agreed.

message 323: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Yeah.

message 324: by Frank (new)

Frank It may be some time before anything is officially announced. The movie isn't supposed to come out until late 2012, right?

message 325: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Right, but they're in the middle of casting.

message 326: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Hopeless Romantics: Yay! Another fellow romantic! Ahahah, and that's like the perfect description of what we are, Taylor. :P

message 327: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Why thank you, Rae. I thought it was rather appropriate, myself.

((I think I'm still going to be calling you Rae for a while. :P))

message 328: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments it was, and we most definitely ARE pathetic at times. :)

((haha, no problem. its perfectly fine. it shouldn't be all that confusing till i next change my profile pic.))

message 329: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments We are! But see, being hopeless romantics makes us far more optimistic. And I love being an optimist. :)

message 330: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Exactly! But then, there are the few pessimistic Hopeless Romantics- my best friend for example. lolz

message 331: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments My best friend isn't a hopeless romantic... She's realistic. I'm trying to talk her out of it. :P

message 332: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Hahaha, I wish you the best of luck.

message 333: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Thanks, I think I'll need it. :)

message 334: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Most likely, it's hard to convert realists. They don't see it as realistic. :)

message 335: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments I can't imagine being a realist! If I was, I would see myself as never getting to do what I dream of doing, and then I'd just be depressed. At least with dreams, you have something to work towards.

message 336: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Exactly! I'm more of a.....realistic optimist, myself. Instead of a straight optimist. I have dreams, but I know when something is just not going to happen.

message 337: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Oh, definitely, me too. There's a point at which I stop myself. I can see when something is not gonna happen, I'm not an ignorant optimist. THAT gets more annoying than pessimistic realists.

message 338: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments It really does! Because you have the people like us, then the depressing, pessimistic people, and then those annoyingly happy people who don't have any plausible reason to be happy.

message 339: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Oh, my goodness, THOSE people. The ones who are like, "My cat got run over, I'm failing math, and my boyfriend dumped me for my best friend. Isn't today a spectacular day?" with no sarcasm involved.

message 340: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Exactly! Any SANE person who had ONE of those things happen to them would feel horrible!

message 341: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Exactly! When something THAT bad happens, even optimists have the right to be mopey for a while.

message 342: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Exactly! And most are! But no, some have to be annoyingly happy even after earth-shattering things happen.

message 343: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments I almost said "exactly", but we've said that three posts in a row...

Precisely! :P

message 344: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I noticed that, but only after I posted last....

quite right!

message 345: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Indeed! :)

message 346: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Aye!

message 347: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Indubitably!

message 348: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Aren't we supposed to be casting the Hunger Games?
'Cause this conversation made me laugh too hard, heh heh heh.
And I totally think the girl who played Johanna in Sweeny Todd should be Johanna Mason. Maybe. Possibly. It could work.

message 349: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
haha yep, move the hopeless romanticness over to general chat or something :)

Eh, I think that Milla Jovovich could do a fantastic Johanna:
