I would read In the Blood. It's really good!

I have read "Tell No One" loved it. I have "In The Blood" to read but have not read it yet. If they are from the library how long can you have them for? My library is 3 weeks. So what I sometimes do look up if any of the books has reserves on it, if so that's the one to read first. Normally if nobody has reserved books you can re-borrow for a further 3 weeks. Does this help you?

My library is four weeks but they send you lots of reminder emails if you have a book that is in demand. I just rushed A Spool of Blue Thread back to them because a queue is forming!

Maybe others here are too young too remember the original of that song. Having 5 girls, our Mum taught us that and we used to sing it on singalong nights around the piano. Still brings tears to my eyes. And I'm talking very late 1960s, early 1970s. Does anyone else remember the original?

I was born in Scotland and went to school in the UK until I was almost 13 and we learnt to sing it at high school (obviously not nearly as well!) and I also learnt how to play it on the piano. We didn't have family singalongs but my Mum and Dad had heaps of old song books and had the music for it. My Dad loved Skye. He used to go climbing there in his Uni holidays. It is a beautiful song.

Love the library, they provide such a great service, always helpful, friendly, I am also registered online so can reserve books and put away for me to pickup. That's why I get upset when I hear that funding cuts are coming. Libraries are such a great place, you save money read the most recent books, great places to go and wander around. I like the online reservation bit, you can also extend your books if you have not finished reading.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments Just wonderin'
When I post a review here, I usually put it in lots of other places as well, including Amazon. Quite often lately, not long after posting I get the Amazon equivalent of a "like" (=someone says your review helped them shop for this book) on that review, so I'm wonderin' if it's an Aussie Reader.....

I'd ask the question too.. I've never posted on Amazon as I've never purchased. Authors have asked me to, I went to do it, but wasn't able to. I don't know much about Amazon, as you can tell.

Suz | 4436 comments Abigail Tarttelin liked my review of Golden Boy! Now that made my day. I don't call books my 'favourite' but when thinking about it in our 'what next' thread, I called that my favourite book, and chose her as the author I'd most like to meet. Maybe I really do have a favourite?

I'm the same Faye. I like using it for exactly that reason, and more.. My kids can access online tutoring for free, I can use their online resources, I ne et knew about Trove before the ladies told me about it, I can reserve, transfer between branches. Not enough people use them in my local area though.

I have done this when I've been looking for a book and checking out the reviews on it on Amazon, if a review was helpful in my decision to buy or not buy the book, then I will say it was helpful. I haven't known any of those reviewers though...unless they have a name I don't recognise.

message 18486: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Heaps of people use my local library; this might be because we are country/coast. All the PCs are always being used when I go in, we have lots of travellers, and, interestingly, older folk on them. And the library offers great toddler reading sessions.

I think the 'oldies' would really kick up a stink as they often don't have the funds to buy lots of books. Personally, I have saved heaps of money since I joined our library.

Quite possibly, Brenda, but maybe not. I just checked to see if perhaps you had a fan voter*, but you don't. Click on your reviewer rating and it will open Amazon's Top Customer Reviewers at the appropriate page:

Hi guys..I'll comment on the previous posts later (when I get on the laptop)..we are in Adelaide after a very eventful day. I was attacked by a little dog as we were loading the car this morning. Jack Russell terrier who was obviously having a bad morning! My foot is in a bad way..3 of my toes on my right foot were well chewed! Boy it hurt..he wouldn't let me go! Wrenching my foot out of his mouth probably did more damage! Off to the clinic shortly for a tetanus injection and possibly antibiotics!
