Maybe the negative vibes coming off Elaine regarding photos scrambled your thoughts, Brenda, and made you forget!!!

Thanks Kathryn. It was great. And yes we were having such a good time that there was no time to stop for photos. And as Brenda says I wasn't all that keen but I would have taken a photo if she wanted to. So when are you coming to Melbourne, did you say? :)

Oh, Elaine, I wish!! Maybe it will have to be next year - I have (and have had) so many expenses this year... But I promise I'll still keep an eye out for cheap airfares!

I understand Kathryn but will live in hope. I'm thinking the same about Perth in July. Airfares and accommodation are just so expensive.

Suz | 4436 comments Everyone, I wanted to let you know that tonight on Abc radio 10pm on the Nightlife programme, they are discussing the importance of libraries in Australia. I'm in Sydney and it is 702am radio. Catch it online or on digital etc, iPhone apps too. I'm very much looking forward to it, after increasing my visits to my local branches recently. I know my smaller one will almost certainly close in the future.

This is very timely, as one of our local secondary colleges has closed their library, and I fear some of our local libraries may be in danger of closure too! Thanks will try to listen.

Yes, that happened to me with The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy...it was archived on the day that they approved it! I emailed them but got no response. I ended up applying for it again when the UK version was listed and they approved it, even though they don't normally approve residents outside of the UK. So maybe try that?

message 18180: by Carolyn (last edited Mar 18, 2015 11:35PM) (new)

Carolyn | 9868 comments It was archived two days ago. I actually wasn't expecting to hear because it was weeks ago that I asked for it so I'm not too bothered about missing out. But now it will sit in my not reviewed list so that's a bit annoying.

Email them Carolyn. I actually did that and they "un-archived" it again for a week so I could download it:) It's worth a try...I replied to the email which approved it and received a response pretty well straight away:)

message 18184: by Jenni (new)

Jenni Boyd Suzanne, I just read your post about library closures, I for one will be devastated if that happens, and I'm sure many others of my local community would be also, the closest book store, or anywhere that sells physical books is over an hours drive away. Do you know what areas they are targeting?

There are quite a few like this, Marianne. I remember seeing a link in another group to a range of books with the same covers, but with slight tweaks in colour or cropping... I can't remember where I saw it now... Will post if it comes to me.

Go to Listopia and type in Same Covers. There are heaps of examples there.

I'm doing that too, Leonie!! However, even before I started my current program to get me ski-ready, I was already much fitter than the last time I went skiing 9 years ago, so am hoping that will be beneficial - not sure exactly how hard I need to work, but I guess I'll find out middle of the year when I'm on the ski fields whether my level of fitness is sufficient!! I'll probably spend 3/4 of the time on my butt in the snow anyway - I did the last time!

Carolyn, it looks like it's happened to a few people in the past.

Have a look at this link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

If you don't get a response to your email soon, I would do what Angela said in the 2nd post, so it's not sitting in your unread/unreviewed list.

Yes I was very surprised how often it happens. Luckily there's away around it though, so it doesn't affect your percentage.

Oh that's not good at all. They (publishers) should test/view it first before they put it on netgalley.

Did you make a comment in the feedback section? If not, try it so it's counted towards your percentage.

I had one where the font was so tiny. When I enlarged the font on the e-reader I'd lose some of the text...it was really weird. I managed to finish it, with some difficulty and sore eyes.
