Chat about whatever you like: the weather, good stuff, bad stuff, family or pets!

Safe travel and a fun time, but that goes without saying. You will have that Brenda meeting up with other Aussie friends.

Drive safely, Brenda! Looking forward to hearing all about it!
Thanks Kathryn:) Will let everyone know:) Bad luck about the internet! That used to happen to us too, and I finally bit the bullet and upgraded - it's wonderful!!!

It's unusual that I've used so much - I have never used all my data up since I upgraded to this plan a couple of years ago... Never mind - I can handle less internet access than usual - maybe it will help me to cut down on my usual internet usage if I can break the habit during these few days of continually checking email and GR...!!
LOL! I know, you wonder where it goes! Make sure no-one else has accessed it though, if you don't usually use up all your data...

Have a great trip!

Its usually updates that chew into it Kathryn, if you have had a few of those this month, or even one large one? Downloaded any programs etc?

Updates and teenagers. Had any of those this month :)

Very excited now Brenda to meet you and the other girls. Hope the trip goes smoothly. :)

I'd say that was it Kathryn, but you do need them for your Mac to operate at its best. Btw, there was another ios update today :(

Thanks Jools:) Will do!!
Thanks Jools:) Will do!!

And if I could stop the Mac updates I would - at least I could then hold off doing them until I was in the Apple store using their internet! And it used to ask me, but when I upgraded the system (not sure whether it was to OS Yosemite or the one before), it stopped asking me. See - I do an upgrade and it changes features I previously liked!!!

How many times have you guys seen each other?

That is sad news Bette for Discworld fans. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 8 years ago at the age of 58.

I'm here, Bette, just not so early... so sad to hear about Terry Pratchett. He was one of my favourite authors, and he had such a way with words and stories. The Twitter announcement was just poignant.

Oh no! So so sad. I have loved every single one of his books.

I thought of you Phrynne when I heard the news. I knew you enjoyed his books.

Sad to hear. My husband has a number of his novels he often chuckles through.I will have to buy him whatever the last one was if he doesn't have it.

Bursting into song:
There's a track winding back
to an old-fashioned shack."
Along the road to Gundagai.
Where the gum trees are growin'
and the Murrumbidgee's flowin'
beneath the sunny sky.
Oh my mother and daddy are waitin' for me
And the pals of my childhood once more I will see
And no more will I roam 'cos I'm headin' right for home
Along the road to Gundagai.

I really love the whe words of the announcement :)
Death: “AT LAST, SIR TERRY, WE MUST WALK TOGETHER.”
“Terry took Death’s arm,” the following tweet read, “and followed him through the doors and on to the black desert under the endless night.”
DEATH was my favourite character and he as well as Terry will be missed.
I can see a re-read of Hogfather coming up this December

Same here - husband and oldest daughter are all fans and have the whole Discworld collection and all re-read them frequesntly.

Raising Steam was the last one in the main series Dale (#40 published in 2013). He also wrote in between books, spin-offs from the others and one of those was published in 2014 (Mrs Bradshaw's Handbook, which seems to be a follow up to Raising Steam.
I just bought a few to add to my collection from Book Depository and they had a nice quote from Going Postal on their home page:
"Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken".
In which case Sir Terry Pratchett will live on for a long time.

**Clap-clap-clap-clap-clap- whistle - resounding cheer** Yay Sally, nice rendition of an old favourite!! :)
You have a lovely virtual voice, a true Virtual-oso!

Thanks for that Carolyn. I will have to check the bookshelf and see if it is there.

Brenda will have that stuck in her head now as she drives to Gundagai!

Lol, I have too!

Very clever Julie."
Yes very clever - as soon as I read the town name the song popped in my head and has been there all morning :)

That is so sad - thanks for sharing the news Bette. I haven't read any of his but I know lots of people in the group love his work. Such a tragedy:(

Oh, Bette, Thursday and Friday are work days, I have to walk (treadmill) and run, no time to chat, early start etc.
Very sad about Terry Pratchett. I have only read a few, but have a whole collection ahead of me to enjoy!

@Michael Excellent article.
@Sally I think I was singing with you (and laughing):)
@Marianne You're certainly energetic in the morning!

No work today, so I am able to linger a while longer, checking posts before I get on the treadmill.....to read, of course!

So now I have a tablet. Yesterday, after dinner, before our game of rummikub and then Doctor Blake, I thought, I'll just check my email and GoodReads: I sat (upstairs) doing that on my tablet.
See, I know me very well......LOL
