Carolyn | 9868 comments I missed all the excitement at your place last night Brenda. Hope it ended at a reasonable time and you all got some sleep. Very inconsiderate of them to carry on like that.

Thanks guys, got some sleep..probably more than the neighbours! But I've been out picking up pieces of glass and broken bush from our front lawn and the road! Not a night I want to repeat in a hurry!

I wonder if the party got raided by uninvited nere-do-wells hence the violence - do they have a history of bad parties? There is a difference between noisy fun and noisy violence with police rocking up.

Not good Brenda. Doesn't sound very pleasant for an engagement party.

No that's the strange thing..they never have parties. The mum has cancer so I was surprised they held it there in the first place. Don't know if it was gate crashed..we may find out..

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments Got up this morning and the sky was BLUE!

After the last few days of Brisbane rain it is incredibly welcome, mind you all that rain produced a lot of good reading. I now no longer have an excuse to read instead of doing the laundry or the garden :)

Ours was lucky as it was shut down effectively due to the choppers and the detective presence. It was a story to tell as we left the next day for a week in QLD for one of the kids softball championships. Mind you we didn't have to deal with the noise for long as we'd gotten home from a wedding at midnight.

Suz | 4436 comments I was craving veggies (and my family need them I think!) after a few easy dinners, so I decided on roast beef. It's so hot now, after being muggy all day the oven has added to it! Anyway, I've delegated (kinda) so I'm enjoying an afternoon of trying to clean up my lists - you know when you've added double etc - and enjoyed reviewing books from a while back. Not a bad afternoon ;)

Sounds like a very very productive afternoon Suzanne!

My family gets a bit sick of salad at this time of year. So easy to just BBQ something and add a salad this time of year. Like you I'll have to make more of an effort before they rebel!

It was cool enough here to have the oven on for a while. We had roast lamb and roast veggies and mint sauce. Very tasty!

Lamb is so much better I think, I had beef in the freezer for something different, and also could tell from the kids reaction. Weetbix after dinner from my 10yo backed it up too!

Yum! It's too hot here to do anything like that plus it's Sunday so it means lazy meal or leftovers. I personally just had a slice of toast n I'm full.

That is so good, traffic & that type of weather is scary (to me).
Work was really good to us and let us go home early so that we did not get caught up in the traffic. There was heaps of water on the roads through, aqua-planed it at times :P

I just came on to find several notifications about my review of Wolf Winter. I was a bit surprised since I have not read it let alone reviewed it. It appears I gave it one star!!! Anyway I deleted it all:) File it in the mysteries to never be explained basket..........

message 17798: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments You know what, sometimes when I go to mark a book Currently Reading, I somehow accidentally give it a rating when I definitely don't mean to. I noticed this happens to others as well, probably because the rating stars are just below the thingy to change your status from Want To Read to Currently Reading. This happened to Allen & Unwin when they added a book, and to Ilka Tampke when she added her book. They didn't realise they'd rated the book, in each case quite low.

I had three such notifications last week for different books Phrynne and thought I must have been inadvertantly hitting the stars, but maybe it is some sort of glitch in the system?? :(
