Lots of great contemporary books set in Australia - for starters - What about some YA? Cath Crowley's mega award winning and mega beautiful Graffiti Moon (set in Melbourne), Big Fish, Little River - Belinda Jeffrey (SA), Raw Blue - Kirsty Eager(Sydney) . Also Jasper Jones - Craig Silvey (WA) The Secret River Kate Grenville (NSW). The first three are YA so not quite so long if you have to read a lot to prepare but all major award winners so probably good choices depending on what you need to look at them for. If you want poetry there's always Les Murray or any one of these http://redroomcompany.org/poets/?page=2. Hope that helps

Faye wrote: "Hi Brenda, would love to but how do I do the link please."

Thanks Faye:) In the comment box on the top right hand side, it says "add book/author" - click on that, then put your book title or ISBN then hit search. A choice of books will "drop down", find the correct one and click "add". Then do it again (changing from book to author) and click "add" for the author. They will automatically appear in the comment box:)

Yes, but mine has been as in no emails; only notifications on GR.

Since they had their huge site-wide outage, there have been issues with the receipt of email notifications, the duplication of them etc. They have been working on it for quite some time - it's actually much better than it was, and a lot of us (me as well) were getting NO email notifications at all, and this went on for some time. So hopefully SOON they'll have it all fixed.

Elaine | 2001 comments Feeling a bit sad and anxious today. My baby...well he'll be 10 in couple of weeks...is off to camp tomorrow for 4 days. I know he'll be fine and have a great time but still not coping too well. I'm sure I felt the same when the other two ( now aged 22 and 20) went off as well. Just can't remember. I've filled in every day with work or social stuff so I don't have too much time to think about it!!!

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Just got back earlier today from a movie weekend/general mucking about weekend at a mate's place. Much pizza was eaten, coke drunk, Cards Against Humanity played, and Shoot 'Em Up, Groundhog Day, Breakfast Club, Seven, Austin Powers 2, Moon, Army of Darkness, Inception and Meaning of Life watched.

Oh and pancakes, far too many pancakes.

I hope he has a great time and you don't miss each other too much.

And I hope the four days goes by fast for you!

Parenting is an emotional roller coaster.

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Unfortunately we ate pancakes until we felt sick, so not so yum in the end.

I really like Moon, good old-fashioned intelligent science fiction. My mates hadn't seen it so I basically forced it on them.

And Cards Against Humanity is a great game for party-type things like that. It is incredibly offensive and awful a lot of the time, but it's sort of the point - it's all in good fun.

Are you never wanting to eat pancakes again?

I just looked up Moon and saw the guy from Galaxy Quest is in that. I think it would crack me up to see him in another space movie. I'd probably want to see it as a comedy, though it's not.

I looked at the website for the game. It looks funny...kind of like Apples to Apples. They're probably not showing the more offensive cards.

Okay. I just saw an offensive one. But it does looks fun in a dark way.

We are having a wonderful, relaxing time thanks Michael! The weather has been glorious. We spent today wandering through the rainforest, and along the cliffs to a look-out where we spotted a whale frolicking in the waves. (Too far away for good photos, but the people on the whale-watching boat nearby would have excellent photos!)
