Aren't the whales just gorgeous? We have some through the bay here on the south coast of Victoria for the last week. So peaceful.

Faye, we have the Southern Right whales on the south-west coast. I haven't been down to check if they have arrived yet. They have their whale nursery here from mid June to September.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments This weekend I'm baking for next weekend's book club as I'm hosting. So I've just made a Dutch ginger slice which is best made a week ahead (very convenient) and put my dried fruit in to soak for my No eggs, no butter, no sugar fruitcake, which I'll bake tomorrow: Fruitcake also improves on standing so next weekend I only have to take time out of the Read-a-thon to slice them up and get the teacups ready.....

Your book club sounds like a really tough gig Marianne...NOT!

Jenni Boyd I'm busy making a second Princess Elsa costume (Frozen) for my daughter, who does kids parties, she has had so many bookings for this theme, she requires a second costume, also will be making a Tinker Bell costume as well.

No way David!
Everyone I know in Sydney who has an eReader has either a Kindle or Kindle app on their iPad. I have both apps on my iPad but buy a lot more ebooks from Amazon than from Kobo.

I'm walking at 5, Marianne. This seems quite fast, but that probably because I'm unfit I did start at 4 and have worked my way to 5.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments Here comes a whinge
Mostly there is harmony in our house. Hubby and I each have our own study and our own computer. But every now and then, I come down to my study to find hubby sitting at my computer. And he doesn't want to vacate my chair because he's in the middle of a game of online backgammon. Why isn't he doing this on his own computer, in his own study, you ask (as I did)? Because he has a Mac and he can't do that on a Mac.
So I made a rule: no going on my computer when I am in the house or you are expecting me home soon. And I thought, tonight, I'll just organise the dinner, then pop down and email Brenda: and guess what!!! GRRRR
I know how to solve it, of course: I'll replace my Windows laptop with a Mac!!
(Or maybe I'll get a tablet so I can do stuff upstairs while he plays on my laptop downstairs....)

The first really cold day we've had this year. Took the heater pretty much all day to heat the house! We haven't had the gale force winds here, for which I'm thankful, but they have been forecast!

I agree, go the iPad Marianne, mine is like a third arm! I don't know what I ever did without it, and although I still use my laptop it doesn't get half as much time as it used to...pre iPad. All of my time on Goodreads is done from my iPad and I can even scan my books into my bookshelf...or scan books at the shop, library etc. to get feedback. It's got kindle and audiobooks too.
Gee, Apple should give me a commission eh?! ;)

Oh, and I write my reviews in notepad on it as I go, and then paste them into GR. So they don't get sent into cyberspace anymore when I'm only halfway through writing them!

message 12394: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) For the past week or so, when I open Goodreads in the morning, I find I am still signed in - even though I have signed out on the previous day. I am using only laptop and not laptop & phone app. Is this a known bug? I have posted a question in Goodreads Feedback group but can any of you smart people help me here?

Faye (lastchapter) | 409 comments Very rough weather here on the South Coast of Victoria, scared of getting blown away, we have very high wind warning it is raining, very cold.We now have hail. My daughter left at 5.30 this morning to go to work, said the wind coming from the beach was so strong.I have to go to work, however looks like my dog has taken up her position in the family room for the day.She stuck her nose out the door and thought better of it.Keep safe everyone

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Bette if you remain signed into Facebook and if your Facebook/Goodreads accounts are linked then it usually automatically signs in Goodreads.

I may have just bought hte new editions of 6 books that I already own because they look nice...
