That is a very cute clip! Why are baby animals so cute? And yes, I did say "awww." :)
Well, this afternoon I fly out to Melbourned, to participate in Continuum X. Should be lots of fun, but I'm a little nervous about my first panel participations. At least I get to participate in one before I moderate the second! Am still deciding on which piece of reading I'll do though.
Lots of really interesting panels to sit in on, and hopefully some new authors to meet, friends to make, and a cousin to catch up with.
Might be a bit sketchy on popping in to Goodreads - probably depends how much sleep I want to get.

I actually said awww out loud at that precise bit.

Ooh, how exciting! Hope all goes well for you Leonie -- please tell us all about Continuum when you get back.

That is classic - I'm going to do that next time!

Oh yeah, good one, I'll tell hubby

BRILLIANT idea, Bette!

I tell them we don't have a single computer in the house (a total lie of course - we have at least 6). There's always a long pause while they think of what to say to that and then they hang up!

Classic Bette.

Good job Bette, well done, bet they hung up very quickly.Just had another scam happen to me. My husband and I put something on Gumtree, I received a email from someone saying they work for NZ Gas and Electricity, they work offshore, they were very happy with the product that I wanted to sell and would give me the money straight away, if they could just have my bank details they then send you an email from paypal (false of course) saying they have paid, in the meantime you have no money left in your account.Very scary. I was lucky my husband knew about this sort of scam.

Great idea Bette! I got rid of mine ages ago when I said I'd just check with my IT son - they hung up straight away!!

I love it!!

Our dinner guests were most surprised :)
A friend of mine just puts the phone down - not hanging up just down. She goes back later and there is a dial tone. She says they have to pay for the call but wonders how long before they do realise she's not there.

Haha, I used to do that Sally after an overseas rellie had a blue with my hubby and he started making abusive phone calls at all hours. I was working night shift at the time and he knew I slept through the day so he started calling me every day! He just kept ringing even when I didn't answer, so I would put the phone in the linen cabinet and shut the door on it and go back to sleep. That went on for another couple of weeks and then stopped suddenly...I think he must have got the bill...hehee, international calls too!!
I shut it in the cabinet so he couldn't hear any sounds from my place.

You sound like you enjoy it Sally! Waiting to pounce on unsuspecting scammers!!
I love it; can't wait for the next scammer to call :D

Faye, I don't tell them it's the police number; I just give it to them so that when they ring there, they get a big surprise.

Yes Bette, I think that is brilliant.

I've seen lots of photos of the lights. They are outstanding. Lucky you to see them, despite the accompanying trauma :)

Sounds great Marianne! Always good when you spend a lot of money on a product which actually works!

Mmmm powdered pebbles yum! Haha...it sounds like a beauty Marianne :)

LOL!!

The lights are well worth the trip. I went Thursday night with my two daughters and mother. We booked a motel in the city this year after taking two hours to get home last year. It was raining so by 10pm we virtually had all the lights to ourselves. It was great! We are already planning next year!

There are certainly a lot of scammers on Gumtree. I don't see how they can access your funds though with only your name and bank account no.

They are very clever these days. A friend at work lost $2000.00 exactly this way.

Haha! Are you calling me a chatterbox? LOL Perhaps I shouldn't ask you that, as it will open me up to all sorts of comments! ;P

Those of you of more mature years, take note.
Having been on my L's for almost four months, I wish to report that
a) I *can* drive.
b) I *can* park
c) I *can* do a three point turn.
Am I proud of myself?
Yes!
