B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Donna Tartt has won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for The Goldfinch.

A well-deserved honour and an amazingly good book.

Neko After slicing my hand on Tuesday I can properly write again on the internet. Still worried I'll split the knitting though and I really don't want to undo all the goodness that has happened :/

Ouch! Stitching is usually pretty tough - but the pulling sensations when you first start to move it again can be a bit interesting. Hope all tendons and nerves are intact :)

Neko Scissors and the webbing of my hand between my thumb and pointer finger. It happened within seconds!

No stitches were needed because of how it was bound..If it hadn't of self knitted so well I would of gone to get it stitched though :|

My daughter did it in primary school and it was a great way to encourage her to read. It's never been mentioned at her high school and I didn't know it was still running.

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Not sure if anyone else was ever a fan of Tank Girl, but someone is making a new one.

Up on Kickstarter for backing - looks like it has some good talent behind it!

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Not this Easter. My sister and I have decided we both want a holiday break without our houses full of guests. It will be quiet here, I'll be reading more of the Outlander series. It's raining here atm so I wont feel compelled to get out into the weeding, yay:)

Kathryn | 3569 comments What's wrong with me lately? (Maybe don't answer that!) After fixing up my lost recommendations on my home page when I accidentally pressed [Hide], today I accidentally pressed "switch to: mobile version"!! I thought I'd stopped it, as I clicked the cross before it navigated away from the page where I was typing a comment. Then later, when I opened a new GR tab, it took me a while of looking at the page wondering why it looked strange before I realised that it was the mobile version that had already taken effect before I clicked the cross!!

At least this was an easier issue to fix than restoring my recommendations - nothing to do with cookies or caches (nor chocolate nor bunnies nor eggs!) but I don't seem to be able to touch GR lately without doing something strange to my page!!

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) The Read-a-thon thread has made me consider the number of pages I read. So in the last three weeks since I started reading Outlander and including other books I have read during that time, I found that I've read just shy of 7000 pages. No wonder my eyes feel a wee bit tired!

Kathryn, I live in fear of messing up my Goodreads stuff. The thought of it makes me go cold:P I feel badly for you. You need to change your luck - maybe throw salt over your left shoulder? Ahem - that works if you put new shoes on a table which is Really bad luck - so it might be one of those all-in-one good luck cures! A little tidbit of interesting from Matthew Reilly :

Hi everyone,

So, on Wednesday, after a 16-hour flight from Dallas to Sydney, I threw on a suit and tie, downed a couple of stiff espressos, and headed to the Sydney Opera House to meet the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

As one of 400 people at the reception, I wasn't expecting a one-on-one chat with William or Catherine. But then, suddenly, there was someone guiding me by the arm toward Catherine saying, "Are you happy if I introduce you as 'Matthew Reilly, international bestselling author'?"

A flurry of thoughts went through my mind, chiefly: what on earth do you talk about with a princess? Having never done it before, I really didn't know!

I don't think it's good manners to mention what Catherine said during our little chat, but I will say what I said: I opened by saying that my last novel had been about William's ancestor, Queen Elizabeth I. That proved to be a great ice-breaker, and (as you can see from the photo) we then chatted happily about "The Tournament", Queen Elizabeth I, books and ultimately, how you get young boys reading (a challenge she and William will face in a few years).

It was a very enjoyable experience...and then I went home and crashed.
