He needed a chain around his neck for a few days, living outside by the fence and with no food!

Neko I watched a Bulldog the other day that really made me laugh hard while waiting for the traffic lights to turn green.

This store that sold pottery and statues had a bunch of Bulldogs all lined up as you entered the outdoor shop and an owner took her dog into the store...Well, the bulldog started to sniff down the FAKE dogs and it got really defensive...To the owners embarrassment she had to pull her Bull away from the statues and across the street....I got a great giggle.

Faye (lastchapter) | 409 comments Liam what a great story, my friend had a dog exactly like the one in the photo, he used to growl if you stopped patting him.

Best wishes to the people of far north Queensland. Take good care, stay safe and know the rest of Australia is keeping everything crossed that Ita won't be as bad as they are saying...

Sally906 | 89 comments Cooktown is a bit of a worry as most of it was built prior to 1985 and the residents were told if their house was pre 85 to go to public shelters. So about 3/4 of the town have either left or are in shelters

message 11622: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 80186 comments Mod
It will be wiped off the map if it's as bad as they say:( The poor residents must be terrified!

They are saying atm that it's crossed at Cape Flattery just north of Cooktown about 9pm..trees down and homes damaged at this stage.

message 11624: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 89 comments The cyclone crossed the cost just north of Cooktown. Had actually decreased to the lower end of a 4 just before it hit. Still a powerful punch but hopefully under 4 by the time it gets to Cooktown in an hour or so.

Still very scary, but not as scary as a 5!

We are starting the kids on it when we return to school, however, I have started logging mine in, yes it is a good tool to get kids to read. Our school gets the staff and students involved and then we have a little gathering one lunchtime to celebrate the kids who complete it. Are you a teacher?

Hi Sally, I have put the link below for you. All you do is register, you have to read 15 books in total. 10 Challenge and 5 choice, the challenge books are shown on the various list, however you may log as many books as you like.
It is a great opportunity to speak to kids about reading and encourage them to read different genre.

I was just looking at the Super 10 list, which I assume is for advanced grade 10 and above and there are some ambitious reads on there even for grade 12's. OK, let's be honest - there are some reads on there I would say are ambitious even for me!! Especially the Charles Dickens and Victor Hugo reads...! So it's quite a good list, even for an adult - there are some on there that I haven't heard of and will have to check out...

Yeah some of the books are challenging, however, it gives kids a chance to explore different books. Also I use it to read some of the teen books so I can then talk to the kids about them.
