Very clever."

That's really cool - these artists who do this sort of work are really quite amazing.

Sorry all that I, once again, dropped off the radar. I'd tell you all the rubbish that's been going on but you probably wouldn't believe one person could go through so much... I know I barely believe it. Suffice to say I've been under a fair amount of stress lately. In better news there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel and it's not an oncoming train ;)

In other news my doc has suggested a new treatment plan for my back pain. If this works I may be able to get off pain killers entirely or even just get onto something that's not so strong. I've only had one of the treatments - some kind of electro-magnetic pulse therapy - so we'll have to see how things go. I can say that it's a very odd sensation and the first treatment left me with a tingly, almost pins and needles feeling in my lower back along with sharp, shooting pains from my waist to mid-thigh on my right side but the pain was all gone the next morning. Next one is tomorrow so I'll see what happens then.
Cheers,
Trace

My dad too; pancreas, secondary in lung, stomach, liver, prostate, lymph. I went up and stayed with him for 3 months; it was terrible but we managed to have some good times. I miss him dreadfully.

It was rough but at the end he didn't; we got him into a fantastic palliative care place. You have to take your hat off to palliative care nurses!

God, I couldn't; I'd end up shooting myself - too depressing, all that death. I felt it there everyday; death lurking in the corridors, round the corner, in the next room. And then one Saturday night, in dad's room but it was welcomed there.

You have to tell me something funny now, cos I'm starting to feel a little flat:(

Elaine | 2001 comments Michael and Bette I know the anguish you've been through and can relate. My Grandfather, who I was very close to having lived with my Grandparents since my folks split up till I married, passed away from pancreatic cancer. It was very quick, only 3 months from when he was first diagnosed. It was very difficult to see, especially when someone has been active all their lives. I'm currently reading The End of Your Life Book Club, which deals with this theme and it is not an easy read. Your heart does go out to anyone dealing with anything like this and the hardest part is how little control we have over it.

My father they only found secondary cancer - they didn't even bother to treat him as was to far gone. I always feel hope when they do treatment.

My prayers go out to Kylie Ladd and her family and virtual group hugs all around to those who can relate to what she is going through

Yes, maybe it's a good thing Bette. Still very difficult though. I understand your reluctance to read the book. I am really struggling with it. I remember sitting for hours with my Grandad, reading while he rested during this time both in and out of hospital. I can't talk about Eucalyptus, without thinking of him.

Debris has been found in the Indian Ocean, and is the most credible lead they have had so far. It is possible that it's not from the missing Malaysian airline, but there are planes heading there, plus a warship at the moment.

No - I'm back home today, very jet lagged and not able to sleep yet! Sadly we did not get to see the lights as the nights were always cloudy. But we saw so much else and it was a beautiful holiday. Guess we will just have to go to Alaska next and try again!

There was a trailer for Divergent which looked okay. I might drag my husband along to that one too.

Me too!

Divergent I'm not sure about. I quite liked the book, (not great but a reasonable read), but the trailer I saw had the characters looking not at all like I imagined them, which I always struggle with in a movie adaptation. I've also read the subsequent two books of the trilogy and my ratings went down a star for each new book, so mixed feelings there.

Oh yes - my ratings went down with each book too. I actually voted Allegiant as the worst ending to a series ever. But I did enjoy Divergent.

I just read your review, Phrynne - apparently we have mostly similar opinions on our mutually read books :) It was a badly chosen ending in my opinion, but I also had issues with the first person present tense two points of view thing. It's partly a personal issue with the style for me, but I couldn't remember who I was meant to be when I was reading it. Never a good thing.

It's been warm enough all week for storms, but we haven't seen any yet. I'd love it to stay fine for your sake, but if your coming up this way brings on any rain, I won't be complaining - especially if it makes it north of the Gold Coast and all throughout Brisbane!!
