Oh haven't you had any yet Vicki? I'm sorry, we've had good rain all day, but we're not done yet, so I'll ask Michael to send some over from Adelaide;)

Last week an Oregon man was so angry that the zipper was stuck on his wife’s nice jacket that he called 911 to get help removing it without cutting it off. When the stunned operator asked if the wife was not breathing he responded, “She’s alright she just can’t get her @$**!* jacket off, and I pissed about it!”
The operator dispatched a fire crew in a non-emergency capacity to the couple’s home.
The agency, WCCCA reported the call on their Facebook and Twitter pages, saying, “Our non-emergency number (503-629-0111) is not only for non-urgent police issues! It can and should also be used for non-urgent fire issues.”
Listen to the 911 call

Doesn't flood much in the city. One suburb does but only at high tide. Water might come over the road but if you just drive carefully you're pretty right. Out of town it floods when the rivers come up.
For us it means not chocolate and listen to the rain :)

and boy, they still smell:P

Thanks for sharing that information Michelle:)
Thanks for sharing that information Michelle:)
We have just had (and will probably have more) a massive thunderstorm with torrential rain! The gardens are loving it so much they are flooded! But it was hitting the front of the house, so towels are stuffed along the bottom of the roller doors, and I've had to mop the entry way as it pelted in there! Beautiful rain:) A shame it can't come down a little less forcefully! I'm sure there will be flash flooding around the area too...

I love storms! But their side effects can be a bit dire :)
We had lovely rain this morning which was good because I was hit with massive dizzy spells and had to stay home. Couldn't even read as my eyes didn't want to cooperate :) got a clean bill of from doctor so that's good :) Apparently I have loose rocks in my ears causing my balance to go haywire! Am reading fine now.

Ah, BPPV? Nasty...

They then drove him back to his hotel afterwards.

still no rain here:( my lawn is even past mouth-to-mouth, I think:P

that's usually me; splat, face down on the grass but only because I've tripped. I must be the clumsiest person God put on this earth, lol:) Just maybe when I was young and silly and following the group, there might have been a cigarette paper involved but I'm old and more sensible now:P

You crack me up. :D
Vicki wrote: "Yay, my rain dance worked. Unfortunately, I must've done something wrong - a lightning strike took out the power for eight hours. :)"
We had a massive storm yesterday afternoon (as I mentioned) and we found out this morning that a lightning strike hit the garage of a house a couple of streets away, exploding it in flames and pretty much destroying the house. No insurance either the poor things!

I had no idea what this was so just looked it up. Glad to hear it's settled down, Sally. Doesn't sound fun at all.

It is horrible when things like that happen.

That is very funny, would have choked on the wine had it been later LOL

Oh no, how awful for those poor people. Please let that be the end of their run of bad luck. No one should have to endure all of that.
But why oh why do some people not insure their homes? Especially as it must've been freehold (insurance is usually mandatory with mortgages). I've never understood why anyone would take that risk with their largest investment/asset.

Such a lovely sound. (We're on tank water, too.)
And now we have just found out about my brother-in-law, who decided to go fishing at 6.30pm last night; he forgot he'd taken the car, was walking home in the dark and fell into a drain - he was incredibly lucky he didn't hit his head as there were rocks in the bottom, and his head went under water. He couldn't get out, and his poor wife had gone looking for him, found the car and his shoes but not him! The helicopter's spotlights found him at 12.20am this morning! He is OK - back at the caravan now - but has been read the riot act by the rest of the family (and probably the police!)

That's awful, Brenda! A scary time for everyone... Good thing it wasn't during winter. At least he's back safe and sound!!

Yes thank goodness Kathryn! We are both pretty shaken up; it's my husband's brother! The tales of fishermen lost usually have an unhappy ending - we are very lucky!
