This commenter probably wasn't the author, since the author is renowned and respected, and the abusive commenter was seriously grammatically-challenged. Actually, he seemed to be ignorant of everything except how to frame vicious and sadistic personal insults. (He became even angrier when I pointed out his ignorance.) Could have been a friend or a deranged groupie of the author's, though. Or (though I hate to think it) someone with hacking access to amazon, because coincidentally, an hour later, my Amazon account appears to have been hacked and a fraudulent instant video order generated, which I just discovered this evening (in the US). All very unnerving. :(

Yeah my parents and husband are both happy that I didn't have a heart attack or anything but still worried all the same I went into hospital..
I had another attack today ( not as severe ) it is frightening. But I am learning to cope in such a short amount of time.
I was worrying over Why? and How?
But I took a deep breath and trying to let it all set in. It is what it is. I don't want to dramatise things or over think about it.
But I will know that if and when it happens again.. I will learn how to cope.
I am just happy everything is fine with my heart and lungs that alone is a plus.

I called my parents at around 1 AM and telling them I was in trouble thinking I was having a heart attack. I was then called Health Direct ad tol..."
I'm so sorry, Liz! It could have been anything, and may never happen again. I do think you should have a serious and thorough cardiological work-up, though. Try to take it easy, though I know that's difficult.

That's bad :( Did you complain to Amazon?

I had a chest x ray, blood test, and a few other things and everything turned out alright ( which is great )
I will be seeing my doctor next week to give him the run-down on things.
So we will see where it all goes from there. :) But thank you. I am taking it real easy...
Trying not to let it worry me.. ( easier said than done )
I still have my jokey wit about me. So not all is lost. Ha-ha :)

Yes, and they issued a refund. They were actually very helpful, so kudos to Amazon. Changing all my passwords embedded on multiple devices is an incredible pain, though, and it's disturbing to think that there might be someone disturbed or angry hacking one's accounts.

I looked up.. that the aftermath it could get you wondering of worried.. I saw some things at the hospital that were pretty bad last night that was happening to other patients..
So that alone I think its fair to say would have a after effect on me also.
I feel it for people that don't come out so lucky.
But I am resting up and wrapped up warm like a cocoon.. :-P

It's great that the tests came out well, so I don't think you should worry. When you see your doctor, you might ask about a "stress test," though. I would tend to suspect it was just some momentary chemical abnormality. Many innocuous things can simulate a heart attack.

I called my parents at around 1 AM and telling them I was in trouble thinking I was having a heart attack...."
I was concerned the most because my father has a history of heart problems.. So i automatically thought.. It has happened to me too!
But I will be talking over a lot of things with my doctor to get a better understanding perhaps.. Or maybe he can tell me something that the hospital never did. All in all though my main focus is getting back on track.
It has DRAINED me.. I feel so exhausted and I am sore all over. I felt like I have ran 7 marathons. But I have been reading "It is to be expected"
But I will focus on my writing I think and just be taking one step at a time.
Take it easy Liz, rest up, and let others care for you. I think the worry about it happening again could possibly cause another panic attack, and in that way it's a vicious circle! Take care:)

That is great advice Brenda.. I was thinking the more I think of "What if?" It would make things far worse..
So I just put on a DVD got myself a nice warm drink and just keeping warm on such a cold night.
You take care too. :-D

Also might try not writing my reviews between 2-4am as I usually do at the moment:) ah, the curse of the chronic insomniac

Really unpleasant stuff, Mark. This type of attack is particularly unnerving as you are dealing with an unseen assailant. Good to hear you're changing all your access; vigilance is most necessary here on your behalf.

Brenda is so correct here. I know it's hard but you have to force yourself to never dwell on it. The fear and worry of a panic attack will cause a replication of that first time.
Maybe see a someone qualified in this area who will no doubt advise you to take up some pastimes like meditation, relaxation therapy and yoga. This will help you learn how to relax in cases of stress. So very beneficial for you even in normal circumstances.

Take care, Liz, best to have all checked out, look after yourself, as otherwise you can not look after others. Take this from me who learnt the hard way. I now give myself a little care and seem to manage looking after others better. Good luck.

Liz, having experienced panic attacks myself, I can really relate to what you've been through. It really is scary stuff, especially if you wake gasping for breath and you don't know what's happening. The hardest part about them is you can't anticipate when you may experience them and you don't necessarily need to be stressed or upset to experience them and they truly do mimic symptoms of a heart attack. I just wanted to tell you though that recently I was diagnosed with severe anaemia and my doctor told me that the "panic attacks" I was having were actually caused by too little oxygen to the brain, causing poor blood ciculation which causes similar attacks to a panic attack and can ultimately lead to a heart attack!! Don't mean to alarm you but for me this was actually good news cause it meant an explaination for what I was going through. Needless to say since taking the iron tablets, the attacks have diminished. Although if I'm slack and forget to take them for a couple of days I do end up having a lesser attack, especially if I'm exercising. I wouldn't presume to tell you this is what's happening to you but perhaps you may want to discuss the possibility with your doctor. I do agree that relaxtion and not dwelling on it is important too. Easier said than done, of course!!! I do hope you work it out and find ways to manage it. All the best.

Sounds like you had some nasty experiences too Elaine. So glad the doctor found what was wrong, and even if it doesn't help Liz, at least she now knows another thing to mention to her doctor...take care:)

Thank you Faye.. I am definitely taking it easy and all in my stride.
I will be back to myself before I know it. I will push on and be back to good form. :)

It is frightening Elaine.. I am sorry that you had to go through that too.
I am glad that the panic attacks have diminished for you. They are certainly not great to have, they are very frightening.
I am glad however that you have been able to find someone that works for you like the iron tablets..
I wish you the best of luck!! It is something we can overcome and see on through another day. :)
Bigger and brighter things to come!
Take Care!
All the best,
Liz xo

My mother has suffered with asthma for years.. I am glad for you also that the worst is over.. A attack is horrible. Fighting for air in itself is very bad.
Stay warm! It is freezing! where I am..

Awww, It is disheartening. But I hope you find something real soon. Something may come about for you before you know it. :)
I have my fingers crossed for you!

That sounds like a good idea! I am bundled up with blankets.. hehehe. My hand is still sore where they put the needle in the back of my hand.. :-/
I might have to put the heater on soon as I can barely feel my fingertips I am so cold.. lol

Thats horrible Liz! My best friend occasionally has anxiety attacks. You just need to stay strong and not let it get to you :) Try to eradicate all the stressful things in your life and surround yourself with those you love. Everything will be okay :)

Thank you for the lovely words Jess! I am doing just that. Taking it in my stride. Not focusing on why? What ifs? Just it has happened and you move on from it.
I hope your friend will be alright. :)

sorry to hear about your experience, Liz. All the best for the future.

Hi Jo,
I have not read The Red House, but he is the author of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night. Which was a book that I took a little while to get into, but then loved it. Maybe The Red House is the same. I will put it on my to read list.

I'm glad she's fine. And thank you so much :)

I've just been to see The Lone Ranger at the movies. It was really good - so funny. Laugh out loud funny even. Don't believe the silly critics - it is a good movie.

Sorry for the long silence - I've been having 'life' again lol
I must say I too am looking forward to seeing The Lone Ranger - my older sister and I have plans to see it sometime in the next week. I don't remember the TV show but Cynthia, my sis, was a HUGE fan of the show and loves Johnny Depp so it's sure to be a fun experience.

By the way, the BBC reports that the chief executive of US bookstore chain Barnes & Noble, William Lynch, has resigned amid a continued drop in sales of its Nook e-books and devices.
His resignation comes just days after the firm reported that sales in the Nook business fell 34% in the fourth quarter, from a year earlier.
The Nook e-reader was launched in 2009, but has failed to take on the Amazon Kindle in the growing e-books market, the BBC says.

Yes it does use the William Tell overture frequently!!! For some of the very best bits of the film actually. How could it not?

It scared me A LOT! I honestly was expecting the worse.. but when I went through the tests and waited hours to get them back they gave me the all clear..
The first thing that came out of my mouth was.. "are you sure?"
They said yes your heart and your lungs are alright nothing is wrong.
I got a moment of relief then worry again, thinking well why did this all happened?
But I won't be sitting here obsessing over it. It is what it is and I just have to focus on getting over this and getting better.
