Hot toddies work a treat; scotch, honey and lemon juice warmed up on the stove. We've got the cold too, back to back with the gastro that struck us down last week. :( Winter in Tasmania (but we love it here anyway!).

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 1215 comments I guess we Sydneysiders have had a true autumn day: a crisp morning, mild midday temperature with lots of sunshine, but the cold settling back in before dinner time. Oh well, great weather for walking, and reading!

Tis gumboot weather again in Tassie. Not that I'm adverse to gumboots. Never shed the child-like joy, of stomping around in mud and puddles :)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 1215 comments Georgina, you've reminded me of the only pair of gumboots I've ever had: yellow. I was about six years old....

message 5563: by [deleted user] (new)

I like that. :) Kids, rain, and gumboots--a perfect match. Mine are black and very mud splattered! Chooks and ducks and goats, and Tassie rain :)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 1215 comments I love ducks! There used to be some in the river where I usually swim, but lately they've disappeared...We had so much rain, followed by water pollution. Guess they've gone to find better quarters.....

message 5569: by [deleted user] (new)

I do too! We have 22 now. Three days ago we had 50. Had to give some away, but I admit they were very loud and quite demanding at dinner time! I was the old woman who lived in a shoe (hey, 45, not ready to be old yet--probably never will be--but you catch my drift :)) Now I can love them again. Very funny creatures. :)

Also have a duck, who was hatched under a chook. She lives with the chooks in their house and is very suspicious of the other ducks. Goldie won't go near the dam--because chooks don't swim, of course!

Emily E (emily_e1) | 347 comments Posting images tip: Just find a pic you want to post online right click to get the url (from the properties) copy that, then to post type < img src=""> (no space between < and img...)and between the "" put in the url address. If they're your own pics you can put them on a site like photo bucket first to get a url :)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 1215 comments Isn't it odd when strangers first speak to you, and talk about your past life? Today, I took our Maltese for a walk in the park, and another lady with the same type of little dog started talking to me, recalling how I used to go out with two other little dogs, sadly no longer here on earth. It seems we are observed more than we realise....

It's the dog connection. :) I remember people's dogs names, far more often than theirs. My staffy was a legend in her own time. Everyone knew her. I think was just the girl Freya hung out with :)

message 5595: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 1215 comments Yes, dogs make us stand out and be noticed. They sure are great conversation starters. I wonder how many friendships have evolved due to someone being out with their canine companion?

Jessy (snuggleglooms) | 381 comments Ok I am just going to put it out there I have lost 46kgs lol I am super stoked!!! And I have done it all without a diet!!!!! I only have 4 more kilos to hit the big 5 0!!! Sorry I know I am butting into the conversation but I just had to tell you guys I just that chuffed I am bursting lol

message 5597: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 1215 comments Well done, Jessy. Was exercise your secret method? If so, you must be fit and toned!

message 5598: by [deleted user] (new)

@ Margaret. I had a friend who borrowed Freya for half an hour (I was sitting near by) in order to impress two lovely ladies he had just met. It worked. Freya was pleased to play her part. All happy (I had to subdue my laughter). Luckily he was a very nice person, so the act was not a deception. :)

@ Jessy. Wow! WELL DONE!! You must feel and look fantastic! Congratulations! :):)

message 5599: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 1215 comments Wonderful story, Georgina!
Actually, my now deceased Maltese, Rosie, was instrumental in introducing me to my husband Ron!

message 5600: by [deleted user] (new)

They do that too. I think Freya helped to soothe grumbles between my husband and myself, before we were married. :) She's gone now too. We all miss her.
