Alarm clocks are the bane of my life! I have to change them all the time, as I start to sleep through them I get so sleep deprived...at the moment it sounds like a bomb alarm really pleasant after 4 hours of sleep...I'm a really happy morning person... :/

When I used to work a couple of jobs, and crazy hospitality hours, I had to have three alarm clocks. One on my phone, one with batteries and one on the other side of the room which I could only turn off by stepping out of bed....

::shudders::

Thank you Carmel, yes there is still a poetry thread but it died a slow death...(-: I can try to start a new thread but as you know time is not on my side with trying to get the house fixed ready to sell, promote & sell my book, my normal 9hr plus a day job etc. but let me see what I can do.

Jess, unlike most on here I did not have much in the way of schooling & am slightly dislexic, know stuff all about punctuation & the way I write is me, what I know about writing the different forms of poetry I have virtually taught myself, you are quite welcome to read my bio here if you like...

Emily...one of the few rhymed poems he wrote...

I Long to Hold Some Lady (from The Spice Box of Earth)

I long to hold some lady
For my love is far away,
And will not come tomorrow
And was not here today.

There is no flesh so perfect
As on my lady's bone,
And yet it seems so distant
When I am all alone:

As though she were a masterpiece
In some castled town,
That pilgrims come to visit
And priests to copy down.

Alas, I cannot travel
To a love I have so deep
Or sleep too close beside
A love I want to keep.

But I long to hold some lady,
For flesh is warm and sweet.
Cold skeletons go marching
Each night beside my feet.

When I started moving from the world of hospitality to 'normal day jobs', I stuck with catering work that was weekends only. Since I had no internal routine body clock, this meant I mostly slept a decent night (starting and ending at random times of course!)

Well, we have arrived in Perth after a brilliant trip from East to West on the Indian Pacific! What an amazing experience! The food is beautiful, all restaurant quality, with the onboard chefs making everything fresh for each meal. The staff are extremely friendly and hospitable...they made our trip so good with their willingness to help out whenever any questions were asked.

Thoroughly enjoyed the lounge car, where the bar is located;D

We stopped at Broken Hill, Adelaide, (where we caught up with our son, d-i-l and their 3 kids for about an hour), Cook (so desolate, and the 4 people living there need medals!!), Kalgoorlie, then arrived in Perth around 10am (Perth time) this morning. The changes of time threw the body clocks out quite a bit;D

And we have done a little 'Perth wandering' today, and looking forward to LOTS more in the next few days!!!

Depending on how old your daughter us Mish they have a meet the author with Graeme Base too which I thought might be nice but I think my girls are too young to appreciate.

message 5118: by Mish (new)

Mish | 3601 comments My daughter 8 yr Davina. She’ll defiantly want to meet Graeme Base and she’s a big fan of Sally Rippen as well. She’s almost completed her collection of the Billie B Brown series so she’ll be very excited to see her and get her books signed.

I can’t wait to see Andy Griffiths. I saw him once at a writer festival and he’s so funny.

Another good news story is there is less than 24 hours until I see The Hunger Games. Three years of painful waiting finally reaches its climax.

message 5128: by [deleted user] (new)

I cant remember what type of shark it was.
he dragged him self up on the beach yelling for help but every one had ear phones in and no one heard him luckly tyson has already gone for the life savers when he saw him go down. but he is pretty much all ok besides the huge bites in his leg

Well, what a day I've had! Firstly, heading out to pick up the grandson for his soccer game this morning, discovered the battery in the car was dead flat:( (the back door not quite closed for 11 days will do that!!) Our neighbour had something he could 'kick start' it with, but that didn't work, it was soooo flat! So he lent us his car, and left the battery charging all day, and night!

We did all the necessary things after soccer (grocery shopping etc) arriving home at 4 with visitors coming for dinner at 5.30. In returning the car to our neighbour, I somehow went over on my ankle, and it's now extremely sore and swollen! So the visitors had to 'do it all', thankfully I was able to stand and make the salad before they arrived, but it made it worse!!

So, much ice and foot propping later, it's a little better.....we will see what tomorrow brings!! Should have stayed in Perth! LOL

Hope the ankle is better Brenda, I'm so glad today was easier at work compared to yesterday with the phones ringing non stop & customers just kept walking through the door, then during my lunch break I had to wizz into town for a full interview & photo shoot for Saturdays 'lift out' magazine, so a cold beer (or 4) certainly went down well.
