What are you working on?
I'm working on the sequel to the first book in my series "The Emily Kane Stories." The first book is Go No Sen (http://amzn.com/B005CIRTSG). The second book is Sen No Sen. I hope to have it finished in January.

I working on a study guide for the 1st 4 books in YA allegorical fantasy series Allon. I discovered home school parents use fiction for teaching purposes, so I'm fulfilling that request.
I'm also working on Allon Book 5 - Gauntlet.
My first historical fiction The Huguenot Swordwas just released November 1 - so I've been very busy.

The book that just jumped up and grabbed me by throat is one I've been thinking about for many months, but it finally insisted it was time to get it down on paper. This is a highly (I emphasize 'highly') fictionalized story based loosely on the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and several other people here in Tucson on January 8. I've always been fascinated by the whims of chance--who was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and why? Who planned to be there and was not? I am not in the least trying to write the true story, nor portray any real people, although there will be some parallels. We'll see how it goes.

That is so cool! I think that reading fiction helps stimulate kids into wanting to learn more about the period. I know the books I read as a kid provided me with a lot of knowledge of history and the anthropological edge that the essays I wrote in high school helped me get into Marquette University.
Thanks, Kathy. It's been an interesting experience creating the study guide. As an author, one doesn't think about 'teaching' their own stories. But it's a great exercise in placing myself in that position of analytical thinking for lessons, which is different than crafting a story.
Right now, I'm currently working on getting myself away from twitter long enough to get back to my WIP. If all my paragraphs start coming in at 140 characters, I'll know I didn't get away soon enough.
I just finished From Beneath They Come and posted on Amazon and Smashwords. Next up is to finish the primary writing on American Haunted, Hush and Land of Milk and Honey. Land should be finished and edited first and hopefully available for free to expose more people to my work. mark Stephens

Now that the 4th & final novel of my Deck of Cardz series is published, I'm editing short stories for "Suspect: A Confessional Anthology" due out this spring from PHE Ink - Writing Solutions Firm. http://www.deckofcardz.com

My first novel, Midnight, comes out in Winter 2013 from Apex Book Company. It's an adult paranormal fantasy. I'm currently working on a young adult series set in that same universe.
I've got a novella flying out of my pen. The Rock Star in The Mirror (Or, How David Bowie Ruined My life) is the story of a small-town guy, Joe, who becomes a David Bowie impersonator to impress a girl. It's not nearly as easy as he thinks it will be -- on either count.
Just released my novelette Five Ways. It's only 10,000 words. Five Ways is out, a novelette by Rob Kennedy. There’s five ways you can go in life, and in Paddington, what happens to Joanne Southlake? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008NV35UA
Hi Dawn,My olny suggestion would be if the poems connect to or add something to the short stories add them. As long as they have been properly edited of course, as with all writing.
Best of luck with it.
Cheers
Rob

Good for you Gary - I have just had my fourth crime fiction novel 'Flash Harry' published and now my head is empty as the dreaded writers' block is moving in.
Still plugging away on my YA series. Am also brainstorming ideas for the YA blog I write for Apex Publications once a month.edited to add in a link to my Apex blog tag:

I am working on the sequel to The Cripple and the Staff http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005FM7W36. Its currently titled the Raven and the Plague. Book 1 was intended to be a novel working up to a faster pace in book 2. Many readers liked the engaging quality of the story. Book 2 is going to be darker and grittier. Also working on getting the audiobook of book 1 out! It really brings a different dimension to book one which I think was already quite entertaining.
Good to hear you folks are so industrious. I'm looking at short stories I wrote a few years back, rewriting them - anything just to get me back into the mode of writing again. With four crime fiction books out there, book number five is eluding me.
I'm still plugging away at my YA and need to sit down and get my monthly blog post written today or tomorrow.
Continuing work on the third book in my Draconia series, Draconia: Rehatching.Right now I'm on Chapter 14. The main Human character, Audwin, and the main villain, Slikmac, are on their way to meet with one of the ruling body of Draconia.
I decided to put together a little compendium I call Some Brief Advice for Indie Authors. It'll be a freebie eBook, coming out in the next couple of weeks.
Hi everybody! I'm mopping up. I have a 12 year old YA manuscript about a teenage girl coming of age as werewolf called ROSEWOLF that I plan to publish on Kindle by Halloween, Found a fabulous cover artist on Elance, Angela Holmes. I also have a Gothic Fantasy, THE ROSES OF THE MOON, about a young countess, Marzsa, growing up in an evil old castle in 17th century Hungary that will be out in print and on Kindle around Christmas. That one was 5 years in the making.
I am lucky to have a great friend, Cheryl Nance, who has turned out to have been a professional editor in a previous life. She has helped me hone these books to the nth degree. I am encouraging her to go into the business of helping Indie Authors. She's so good and detail oriented.
There is nothing like the feeling of having all the pieces coming together internally---quality of the books, marketing and building a team. I love that!

Because of the response I ..."This is such an important subject as the temptation of self publishing is to let the book out before its cooked. This is why editors are needed and putting the book away for a few weeks. And reading as well. Reading quality books and quality authors so you have a standard to go by.
I put out a novella THE LADY IN YELLOW thinking it was finished. All the feedback has been to expend it and deepen it to novel length. People like it enough for it to be worth doing, its just an issues of - do I un-publish the current version and lose the good reviews, or let it lie dormant until I can work on it again?
deleted user wrote: "Right now I'm working on expanding an idea that I've recently had. It's about a girl with psychic powers who can see future events in order to protect herself and others. But there are others not ..."As a lifelong psychic, i can say I've been through that!
I finally reached the halfway point in my third book, Draconia: Rehatching. Now, I'm taking a break to revise the first book, Draconia: Forging Trust.
My next Mapleton Mystery is in edits, and my cover artist just sent me the cover. http://terryodell.com/blog1/books-2/c...
Hi Alyne and Mari and everyone else - yes there are a few old posts lingering around. I don't have a great deal to say yet, but if you are interested in a recent post have a look in Jane Isaac's blog: Caffeine is Not a Crime ... and you will see what I have been up to lately.http://www.janeisaac.co.uk/blog/
‘Ferryman’s Falmouth’
The first draft on my fourth novel, The Long and the Short Swords, got done this past weekend. Now the long slogging process of editing and re-editing can begin.
My muse is slowly awakening from its hiatus this past summer and is planting all kinds of story ideas in my head. I plan on finishing up the first of my dog detective series, then the sequel to my young adult adventure Shadows in the Brook, then an adult mystery/thriller, then possibly another fantasy...whew, the proposed projects are endless! :)
Mari wrote: "will anyone be doing nano next month?"Not me. I'm going to be concentrating on the third book of my Draconia series. While I'm revising my Book 1, and then editing Book 2, I'm outlining the latter half of Book 3. Everything seems to be falling into place. Now, I just have seven more chapters to outline. It's just too exciting to leave off.
Busy busy! But that's a wonderful thing. I like it when the excitement gets that rich and real. I never want to sleep - I just want to keep going.

Hello everyone,I'm new on Goodreads and in this group. I am currently working on a new YA dystopian novel, revising a middle grade novel, and promoting my YA novel Trapped in Paris.
Happy writing to each of you!
Mari wrote: "will anyone be doing nano next month?"Probabaly not this year, although I did it three times and it's a great way to get a first draft down. Happy writing to anyone who plans to be part of it.
I'm just finishing up edits on my next novel, The Promise of Provence. A spring launch date will be here before I know it!
