One of the wonderful things about the wide-open indie marketplace is that you don't have to worry about immediate commercial potential. Just put the story out there and let it find its audience.

Ted Krever | 7 comments I'm working on a comic thriller, I think - I never have the slightest idea what a book is until I reach the end of the first draft and I'm just at the beginning. At the moment, it's a fish out of water story with a side dish of international intrigue. Seasoned with paprika.

Darlene | 13 comments I am working on a novel that will bring awareness to the issue of domestic violence. I posted the prologue and first chapter on FB. Feel free to read it and tell me what you think. Thanks! http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/t...

Lacey Reah (laceyreah) | 3 comments Thanks Ted. A comic thriller sounds interesting. Have you ever read, the comic book, "The Eaters?" It's about a family of cannibals. It's more funny than anything. I'll check out your page, Darlne

I haven't. I've been writing like a maniac for ten years. When I write, I only read little bits at a time. And I'm always writing.

message 158: by Ted (new)

Ted Krever | 7 comments Actually, I should add that I'm just trying to block out a first draft on the comic thriller and then I'll go back and work on the sequel to the thriller that's out, Mindbenders. Both tales focused on the cream of the Soviet Union's mind control program, now fighting an evil corporation that's selling mind control services to both government and big business (on a billable hours basis, like doctors and lawyers). It's actually pretty chilling-the banality of evil. Hannah Arendt would love it.

In the Prologue of DARK VENGEANCE, it is mentioned that the evil god, Myngor, gouged out the right eye of Salynin, the god of magic and knowledge, during the Gods-War. The Myngorians now seek the eye, to bring it to their banished god and free him. Our heroes must find the eye before it ends up in Myngor's hands. Also searching for the eye are the armies of the evil Kingdom of Zor, who have their own motives.

I'm preparing for the release of Allon Book 4- A Question of Sovereignty in a few weeks.

"He shall be Allon's greatest king; of such a heritage as to rule Guardian and mortal alike."

So says the prophecy about the man to succeed Ellis, only he delays in finding a suitable husband for his daughter and heir, Ellan. Finally he decides on Prince Sullivan of Gorham. Unknown, is that an age old enemy is Sullivan's mother and accompanies him to Waldron Castle. Meanwhile, Ellan's own ambition is about to blossom.

Ellan, Sullivan and his mother use subtlety to push the royal family to the brink. Even the Guardians are impacted by the dark machinations. Only Tristine and Darius suspect his mother's true identity. But their efforts to warn Ellis fail, reduce the Guardians in numbers and forces Tristine to flee.

Determined to save her father and stop her older sister, Tristine meets two unlikely allies; a blacksmith and a crippled beggar. But how can they stop a coup? And what will become of the great king?

Have you ever had a crush on someone and just didn't have the courage to approach them? Hylla Koeing had a crush on Bryce Tyler and Bryce Tyler had a crush on Hylla Koeing. Unfortunately they didn't have the courage to approach the other one so they walked around Central High never revealing their like for each other. Even worse, one day they come home from school to a special family caucus only to find out that they are soon to be brother and sister when his dad marries her mother and the two adopt each other's kids? Is it okay to kiss your sister?

message 179: by Mark (new)

Mark Stephens | 3 comments I don't know about everyone else but I find I have too many projects that I'm working on. Which I find good sometimes because when I hit a roadblock in one story, I shift gears to another one.
Right now, I am finishing up a 10 part e-series called Seven Deadly Sins available online at major retailers..wink. I cam up with the idea because I like the weekly pace of a coherent serial paranormal adventure...a la The Green Mile.
Unfortunately Smashwords really doesn't enable me to publish them in a timely manner so I will probably not try that again.
I also have a haunted house story called American Haunted that I am about a third of the way through and should have completed by the end of the year.
I am also working on a paranormal romance saga called Into the Depths, which I should have completed by the end of this month.

Doc (doc_coleman) | 36 comments Going to light a fire under my own butt by doing "The Adventures of Crackle and Bang" as my NaNoWriMo project this year. First time trying to do NaNoWriMo. It has been interesting clearing my schedule for a month of daily writing. Hopefully this will create habits I can carry on after November is done.

Shannon Dermott (shannondermott) I haven't written in almost two weeks. It's sad because deadlines are looming. But I can't seem to find the time when I'm reading other books.

I have the time to write now, but I'm logged onto Goodreads. Not a good sign.

But I do have a new series first book completed. I doing the sixth or so read through, ready to send to my beta reader and my editor.

My other series, I'm working on the second book. I'm close to halfway done.

Sherri Hayes | 14 comments Right now I'm working on edits for my third novel, Behind Closed Doors. I'm hoping to have it finished up by the end of this month, but we will see how it goes. As for reading...I don't have much time for that anymore. I do try to get in at least one book a month.

message 184: by [deleted user] (new)

Currently I'm doing the first round of edits for one novel, the last round of edits and submission of a second novel. Writing my first thriller/suspense novel and gearing up for Nanowrimo.

P.J. Johns (PJJohns) | 16 comments After two months of planning, I've finally started writing Serial Psyence.

Bridget Bowers (bridgetbowers) | 9 comments I just released my first book, The Path of Light: The Chronicles of Vlandamyuir Book One and settling in to finish book two.

Also, kicking around a short story idea or two. I normally don't do short anything, but this is one inspired by a song that I just can't seem to get out of my head...so I figure I'll write it down and see if that helps.

message 188: by Chris (new)

Chris Galford (galfordc) Currently getting my first fantasy novel, "The Hollow March," ready for a December publication. Settling details with my cover artist, looking over maps from my cartographer and the like - but on the side, I'm also rattling around a few short stories, prodding through them day by day. They provide a lovely distraction for when pre-marketing and the like is leaving the brain all frazzled.

message 189: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Landmark (clandmark) | 9 comments I'm hard at work getting my young adult fantasy novel, "Wind and Fire", back out on the market after my publisher closed its doors. I'm looking on the bright side, though. This is giving me the opportunity to improve upon the novel, based on constructive criticism I've received from faithful readers.

I'm also in the process of publishing my second fantasy novel, "Pool of Souls", which should hopefully be ready to go in a very short time.

Philippa (pjballantine) | 10 comments Currently doing first round edits for Wrayth - my third Book of the Order with Ace. Then kicking into line edits on the Janus Affair: A Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences novel.
In between I am sneaking new short stories for the Tales from the Archives which is my indie project set in the Ministry universe.
I am very much looking forward to Christmas...and a rest :)

message 193: by Chris (new)

Chris Galford (galfordc) This concept of rest both confuses and intrigues me. If you say sleep is involved as well then...well, I think you'll have completely lost me.

message 194: by Mark (new)

Mark Stephens | 3 comments My ten part series is now finished and up, but to anticipate reader's interests, I've also stacked the first five and second five into volumes. That way you can read it as it was intended or read it in longer form.
Seven Deadly Sins Volume 1 is now available on ITunes and B&N.
Seven Deadly Sins Volume 2 should be up in about two weeks.
My foray into paranormal romance Into The Depths is in the editing phase and will be released on Smashwords around Thanksgiving, which means it will be available at major retailers the week before Christmas.

Sleep? I must use dictionary to look this up. Must be a fantasy term.

With a sequel in the works, a shorty story to edit and a new book idea to tinker with I'm sure I've never come across this sleep idea.
