Gary Ballard (gary_ballard) | 12 comments I'm currently in the midst of two projects. I've finished the first draft of the third novel in my cyberpunk series, The Bridge Chronicles. I plan to release that sometime early next year. In the meantime, I'm writing one short story a month and publishing it on my Tales of the Bridge Chronicles web site. All the stories are in the same universe as the Bridge Chronicles novels, though they aren't all connected to the main storyline. Some have appearances by characters that are in the series, while others are standalones that happen to be set in the same place.

Sharon (fiona64) I've just embarked on a new project that I hope will turn into a series: Around The World in 80 Pages: Travel Guides for Literature Lovers. The concept consists of inexpensive eBooks that contain information on literary landmarks in a given city. Travelers can download them to their PDA, smart phone or eReader and have the information available during their trip. My first destination comes from my own back yard: San Francisco.

Elizabeth Reyes (elirey) I'm currently working on the 2nd book in my Romance series The Moreno Brothers, "Always Been Mine." Which I plan on self publishing some time early next year. There will be three books total in the series. But all three are stand alones. Each follows the love story of one of three Moreno brothers. The first in the series "Forever Mine" About Angel the youngest of the brothers and his first love Sarah is currently available on Amazon kindle.

Tom Wiseman | 2 comments I'm writing my 2nd novel, Humanoids, a sci-fi thriller set in the 22nd century.

For generations, scientists fought to create artificial life. In 2020, they do just that. A century later, the craft has nearly been perfected. Humanoids are now common-place, walking among us in our day-to-day lives. But who among us is human and who exactly is humanoid.
Ethan Stawls, the notorious Body Shredder, somehow escapes from prison and is on the hunt for the reclusive, retired judge who sent him away. Lieutenant, Brian Stone and his team have been assigned the case. When they begin plucking at some loose strands, they unravel a nightmarish mystery, hidden deep within the city government.

Angelina (rizzogirl) | 2 comments I am working on my first novel. Nope not your neighborhood book club kind of novel. My goal is to write from my book experiences enjoying the likes of authors like Anne Rice,Stephen King, Justin Cronin, J.R Ward and Anita Blake Series.
It's a sci-fi graphic romance and the series is about vampires and Haitian Voodoo. I am hoping it reaches out to the hearts of people that believe in the forever afters and the magic of life beyond what we know. I do not have a literacy agent or publisher. I promised myself I would write when the urges come to me like a need of a vampire to blood. Everyone that has read my book, so far, has enjoyed it and ask me regularly what my characters are doing.I am going on a few vacations to see, feel and live threw the lives of some of my characters. The next year 2010-2011 will be a adventure and I can hardly wait ;)

Timothy Hallinan | 25 comments I'm Tim Hallinan and am working on a new novelin a series that was published in the 1990s. I put the first four books on Amazon and iBooks in e-book form and they've sold so well it inspired me to go back to the series after 15 years of writing other things, and pick up the story again. Also just finished CRASHED, the first novel in a new series that will be my first "e-book first edition," since all my other books were initially published in print form.

I'm working my very first novel. It is a psychological thriller about a serial killer targeting psychologists. I'm hoping to make it into a series with the psychologist/FBI team. That's if one of them doesn't end up getting killed or being the killer! Guess I'll find out when I get there.

Bradley Convissar (bconvisdmd) | 5 comments Working on several short stories at the moment- having a day job sucks sometimes. There are days I would just love to write for hours but instead am ripping teeth from people's heads and drilling and filling.
Anyway, I have 2 short pieces of fiction up at feedbooks (search for Brad C DMD): As Seen on Craig's List (1500 words) and On the Curb ( around 3500 words). In addition, in my personal writing section of my profile, excerpts from both short stories in my Pandora's Children Book 1: In the Chair.
No vampire romances or zombies, just good old fashion Stephen King/ Clive Barker supernatural and human monsters

I'm working today on the following blog - On the 100th death day of Leo Tolstoy, the French culture minister and director Frederic Mitterand went in the footsteps of the "other Czar" of Russia. An interview. “There will never be such a great poet”, Boris Pasternak complained at the deathbed of Tolstoy. As the Russian writer, philosopher and moralist died on 7 November 1910, he left behind masterpieces such as “Anna Karenina” and “War and Peace”... (see dali48.blogspot.com)

Timothy Hallinan | 25 comments In final correx to the ePub version of CRASHED, my first-ever e-book first edition -- all the other books have been published conventionally first and only then put in e-book form by the publishers. This is very exciting to me, because CRASHED is the first book in a new series, one that I was told was not in a commercial genre -- a hard-edged thriller that's also funny. It's been very liberating to just sit down and write what I want, and now we'll see whether anyone wants to read it.

I am currently working on two novels.
The first one is a YA fictional romance called The Betrayal which is the sequel to My heart, his soul , and then the second novel is called Forget me not which is a romance at its best! I've got so many people telling me to speed up the writing process! :)

You can see extracts of the two novels when you go to my profile - it's just the preface's, but I think it'll be enough to entice you... hehehe

Umpteenth round of fine-tuning and editing on 'Venus in Saturn', the very dark and macabre prequel to 'Maranatha'. In a way it's a good thing that I currently only have limited time to go through it each day, as some of the subject matter is pretty heavy. Fans of psychological horror ought to get a kick out of it, though. Sneak preview: http://fenriswulf-books.blogspot.com/...

Also just put the finishing touches to a short horror story commission which ought to be getting published any day soon...

Martin Sharlow | 2 comments Hi all. I'm currently in the editing stages of my sequel to Fallen Blood. Hopefully it will be ready soon, but with editing I really can't say. After that, I'm anxious to get back to work on one of my other books. I have a novella that I'm actually exploring vampire erotica in.

I have a sequel that's in the very early stages for my Shades of Twilight, another book that I've written several chapters to that is more of a mystery suspense, but from a vampires point of view, not to mention several books that are outlined out as well. So my plates pretty full.

J.P. McNeill (mcneillink) | 21 comments I am currently working on a MG/YA urban fantasy novel about a girl, (Lizzie O'Conner) who's miserable life is turned upside down when she finds a leprechaun (Keira) in her family's pizza parlor (which is about to be taken by the bank).

And if you're thinking leprechaun's have gold, you're right, but Keira's not exactly the best with magic. She's only 140 years old (that's 14 in human years) and she lost her gold. Lizzie only has one week to find the gold before the bank takes everything.

I'm projecting this novel to be around 45k to 50k and thus far I have 14k completed.

Craig Hansen (craiginoregon) | 7 comments I am working on a novel called EMBER. It's primarily a suspense-thriller with elements of the superhero, mystery and horror genres thrown in. And some humor, maybe. Sometimes.

It features a young adult main character but is "not necessarily YA" as a novel. I mean that in the literary sense, not the "there's lots of sex and violence" sense... because there won't be a lot of that.

I just mean adults can read this and feel like they're not reading well below their maturity level. Make sense?

Anyway, if it's received well, I'll do more novels based on EMBER's world. And probably will, even if it doesn't do great right away. Because I like it. :)

Or maybe I'm just kidding myself and it really is YA urban fantasy and I just don't want the label because there are no glittery vampire romances in it.

I like to describe it this way: It's part CARRIE, part FIRESTARTER and mostly something of my own concoction.

It's about a girl who can start fires (pyrokenesis) with her mind, but doesn't realize she's doing it. At least not at first. It's set in rural NW Wisconsin and so that makes it unique from all those novels that may have similar elements but are set in New York or Los Angeles.

ALSO: Outside of fiction, I'm hard at work on several theological/inspirational books. How's that for diametrically opposed themes? Whee!

For now, i just created a paranormal story. http://www.goodreads.com/story/show/2...

Don't expect too much on the description because I plan to have a whole lot of twists and turns (hopefully interesting ones) as I lay out the story. :)

It's pretty interesting, at least, as I picture it in my head. I don't think it's the same as any paranormal story. I also made a book cover for it. If you all can visit the link and give feedback and comment, it would be a lot of help..really... ^_^

Check out my other stories as well :)

Christopher Dunbar | 66 comments YES! I got back the edited manuscript for our third book, Morrigan's Brood: Dark Alliance (and half of our fourth, Morrigan's Brood: Curse of Venus), so my co author, Heather Poinsett Dunbar, and I have been busy with re-writes, publicity, and getting book three ready for publication in July.

While I could have the book finished sooner, I have heard lots of advice regarding having plenty of time for publicity and marketing before a book's release. I am definitely open to suggestions, though I am not without my own ideas.

For instance, since 237 years have gone by between the end of Book Two and the beginning of Book Three, I thought we should write scenes that take place between both books and publish those scenes as we write them on-line for free. Well, the idea sounds easier than it is, let me tell you. The biggest challenge is trying not to spill the big secrets we know will be revealed in Books Three through Five, but we want to tease our readers a bit. Unfortunately, I think it is teasing us more. We also cannot change events that we have written in previous and subsequent books, so we have to be careful to stay consistent with the flow of events; tough work since both of us are already working on Books Six through Eight of the series, and both of us have trouble remembering what happened in prior books (was such and such made a Deargh Du in Book Two or Book Three? Wait... he was a Lamia... oops - for example). Management of continuity is tough...

We are trying to stick to nearly daily blog entries as we go about rewrites, putting the prequels together, and other stuff, so if anyone is interested, please visit Morrigan's Blog.

Cheers!

Christopher Dunbar

Cool, Shawn! Good luck!

When you do your finally proofing, how do you go about it? We have an editor who looks at continuity, plot, tense shift, and similar errors, and then Heather and I re-write. Once we finish any re-writes, we hire a proofreader to look for grammar, spelling, structure, and punctuation errors. I then make a final pass by marking in red ink anything I find in the printed proof that was missed.

Cheers!

Christopher

Rob Kennedy | 11 comments I'm 25,000 words into my latest novel, it's titled Painted. Here is a synopsis -

Dominic and Carolyne are two artists, he a pianist and composer, she a painter. Carolyne comes across Dominic in a hospital where she works as a visual theraipst. An apprentice plays a practical joke on Dominic where he works as a welder - Dominic is blinded at the age of 24. Carolyne falls in love with Dominic upon hearing him play at the hospital, but she does not see him again for many years.

Then at a party in an art gallery, years later, Carolyne finds Dominic again. He’s playing the piano to entertain the audience and artists at a group show opening. She introduces herself and from there their romance and their artistic collaboration begin.

He turns people into music, musical portraits; she paints his music onto the canvas, transcribing sound into shapes and colour. They build their works, they get show after show, and along the way they battle Dominic’s jealous sister. Jenifer, who has helped Dominic after his accident and there’s a secret between them but he is keen to break away from her.

Carolyne is 21 years older than Dominic, but he only feels and knows someone he loves. Jenifer disapproves and works against them even as their collaboration brings Dominic back to life after years as just a blind man who plays the piano.

At the height of Dominic and Carolynn’s achievement, things come crashing down and lives fall apart.

Hi Dawn,
If the poems have relevence to the short stories or to the structure of the book, yes add them. If you are adding them because you want you poetry out there, write a book of poetry and try getting that out there too.

I tried something similar and found that the prose and poetry have two different audiences. Most of my friends read prose, only one out of about 200 people I know read and buy poetry. I am a poet and author, and I find they are very different beasts.

Jude (judehnd) Hello Everyone, My name is Jude Henderson; I am currently working on editing one of my novels, its an YA novel, I am really hoping that in a few month or so it will be completely finished so that I can go in search of publishing. I leave you the summary and the link for those of you who would like to take a look at it.

Forever .
Summary: When seventeen year old Evangeline Woods is filled with forever promises, like the promise of her father to stay with her, the promise of a marriage to stay together, of friends growing up and staying side by side, and a boyfriend’s promise to love her, she’s in a moment where everything is perfect, until, in the blink of an eye and a terrible car crash takes all of those promises, all of those forever’s, away, they have all been broken, so now she must go to the place where it all started, Her grandmother‘s house and old town, forget the life she once had, and start a new one, to see if those forever’s can be saved, and to trust herself again. Find family when she thought she’d lost it. Find love when she wasn’t looking. Find friendship when she was in most need, and to find a home, when she had never felt so lost.
Sometimes you need to lose it all, to find everything.
