HOW AN FBI THRILLER SOLD 200,000 COPIES WITHOUT A MARKETING PLAN

Back in 2011 I’d received word from my agent that my first Nick Bracco thriller was being overlooked by several large publishers. Most of them liked the premise of a Sicilian FBI agent using his Mafia cousin to track terrorists, but none of them like the name of the author. Gary Ponzo didn’t ring any bells. Yes, I’d published many short stories, and had been nominated for two Pushcart Prizes, but

“Thomas,” the boss said. “How’s your father doing?” “He’s good, Sal.” Always the family questions first. That was Sal Demenci’s style. He could be about to whack someone and he’d ask how the guy’s sister was doing in school.”
Gary Ponzo, A Touch of Deceit

“Consider their role models,” Nick said. “You can’t change the tide with an oar.”
Gary Ponzo, Thrilling Thirteen

“What happened to the perp?” “Perp?” “The piece of crap who tried to kill my wife. Where is he now?” There was a pause, then, “Well, uh, you see, the guy—he’s in the parking lot right now.” “What’s he doing there? Is he being arrested?” “Actually, he’s resting. As a matter of fact, he’s going to be resting for a really long time.” Nick understood the term. “Tommy, by any chance did he stumble upon an open window?”

Gary John, thanks for reaching out to me. I'm not familiar with J.C. Fields, however, I will definitely be checking him out. I'm hoping to have book seven out by the end of the year. If you subscribe to my webpage at garyponzo.com you'll received an email anytime I release a new book. Thanks again,
Gary

message 4: by John

John just finished book six and can not wait to see what happens next. Have Flight 12 in my next few books that I have read.

The action in your stories is similar to Sean Kruger stories by J.C. Fields. Are you familiar, if not recommend you check him out.
