Cover to Cover Challenge discussion
Read-A-Thon Progress and Discussion -- July
I voted for marathon to start today but I don't think I officially or actually signed up so I hope its okay I still participate. Going to start with Kisscut by Karin Slaughter.
I'm a little late but I'll participate anyway. First time here... I'm way behind on my reading lists so the timing couldn't be better!Let's have a great time, everyone!!
I'm currently reading Aurelia by Anne Osterlund, btw. I'm enjoying it so far. Talk to you when I'm done with it! ;)
i woke up about an hour ago and haven't managed to start reading yet...trying to get my weekend morning routine done before i settle in...
I started listening to a book: The Elegance of the Hedgehog while making breakfast. I really like it on audio!
I got a little bit of a late start. I'm reading 61 Hours by Lee Child. I'm taking a short break to run up to the used book sale at my library.
Erin wrote: "I started listening to a book: The Elegance of the Hedgehog while making breakfast. I really like it on audio!"Added this to my "To Read" list. Checked out the reviews, interesting that most people either give it 4 or 5 stars or 1 star. I find that a lot of great books provoke that kind of reaction in people.
Finished
. Pages 130-309. 179 pages read. Finished just in time, children are beginning to crawl out of bed.
I overslept, it's now 9am MDT and I only have a few pages done, but I'm underway. My little sister is reading too, to support me!
I was worried I would be the only late one, but I see I wasn't. I woke up at 9, about 2 hrs. ago and finished the book I was on. I'll make it up and read till 9 tomorrow morning.
Decided I'll head over to library to try to do some serious reading as my hubby keeps pestering me, phone won't stop ringing and I'm feeling guilty not going to work out 2day. But I reallly want to do this marathon so gonna run-away to my local library which is down the street.
I spent most of the morning at the park exercising and walking the dogs, so I've only gotten in an hour of reading so far. I'm up to page 36 of The Poisoner's Handbook: Murder and the Birth of Forensic Medicine in Jazz Age New York, and so far I'm enjoying it. But now I'm off to meet a friend for lunch. Hopefully this afternoon will actually involve more reading.
I just finished Aurelia! Liked it a lot. Now I'm thinking of finishing Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater that's been waiting or one of my July challenges' books. Haven't decided yet...How are you guys doing?
I finished 61 Hours. Now I'm on to Fault Line: A Novel by Barry Eisler. It's a good day to be sitting in front of a fan!
Just started Drood by Dan Simmons. It's told from the point of view of Wilkie Collins and fictionalizes the last 5 years or so of Charles Dickens' life. Also started Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Bouncing back and forth between the two with a cozy mystery thrown in. May not finish another book today as Drood is almost 800 pages.
though about hour remembered was doing the readathon forgot again and tehn had take daughter swimming but onece I got there it was closed as too many people but then friend called as her she needed a shoulder to cry on so couln't do any reading and here is it 8pm -8 hrs in not a page read and time to get daughetr bed then will start
Almost time to put the baby down for a nap. Hopefully, I'll be able to get in an hour or two of uninterrupted reading.
okay, I'm back from the library as I got hungry and thirsty and I wanted to drink my "Sunrise Classic Orange" with lemon wedges in it. I brought back 11 books and we'll see how I do. Last time I fell asleep around 11:30 pm so I'm gonna take little breaks & stuff and see how I do this time. Plus later I'll have to stop a bit and make din-din for the hubby. I'm so excited!!!! This is fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, have a question on one of my books there are 3 novels but it is published as one very thick book. I'm assuming I can count each novel on their own so that would be 3, right?
@M, I know for some reason when I pick up a book and I'm engrossed then hubby wants to discuss all sorts of things. Give me a break when he watches his favorite shows he hates it when I ask him questions about the show or anything during his tv watching.
uh, finally got access to the Internet. So being that I am on vacation my actual reading time is limited. I did get a couple hours in so far and I am going to try for Mir this afternoon and overnight.
Started Married by Morning by Lisa Kleypas an I hope to finish it of nothing else.
I just finished Fault Line: A Novel by Barry Eisler. I can't decide what to read next. I think I'll just load up on the caffeine and then pick the first one I grab. I'm still motivated but I am not sure I'll be able to make it 13+ more hours!
Finished Beastly by Alex Flinn! I really enjoyed it! I always loved Beauty and the Beast so it was interesting seeing how the story would be like in our time.I haven't decided what I'll read next. I'm thinking Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman...
I started almost 12 hours ago and with only 1 hour break, I have finally finished my first book - Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon. Don't get too excited, I started this morning on page 607 so it took me all day to read almost 500 pages. Which seems way too long to me, but it is tiny print on full pages - lol excuses excuses. I am going to order a pizza now and decide where to go next on my reading adventures....
Grr...my reading is going to be cut short. a family emergency this evening now requires me to be at work tomorrow at 6 am - which is 11 hours from now. So I'm not going to be able to finish reading anything tonight...we can't help but laugh about the stituation around here.Apparently my MIL is stranded somewhere about 4 hours away and hubby - who was supposed to work tomorrow morning (we run a family business) will be going to go get her.. I don't know what would be worse - driving 8 hours (there and back) or getting up that early on my day off to go to work!
Thenia wrote: "Finished Beastly by Alex Flinn! I really enjoyed it! I always loved Beauty and the Beast so it was interesting seeing how the story would be like in our time.I haven'..." You got it done that is the important thing. Good job!
Almost done with Kisscut and it is intense and I'm just kinda shocked what happened to Jenny Weaver. But this is an excellent read. I had to stop to make dinner earlier and I am a slow reader but almost on to my 2nd book. Just wanted to take a break & see how everyone else was doing.
Linda-I loved Kisscut. Karin Slaughter has a way of getting you emotionally by the throat, doesn't she? It always takes me a bit of time to recover from her books before I can jump to another book.I decided on Blue Heaven by C.J. Box-so far I am really enjoying it!
@Jennifer: Wow! 500 pages! I have Outlander on my list and I think it's about 800 or so... O.o Intimidating!@Shay: Good job on finishing Scoop, even if you didn't like it. How's Neverwhere going? I think I'm gonna call it a night after I read a couple of chapters. It's been a long day!
@Linda: Thanks for the support! :) And good job about getting to your second book!
Thenia, haven't started Nevermore. Have 7 books going and hope to thin it out a bit before starting it. Want to be able to appreciate it as everyone says it's wonderful.
Kristin wrote: "Linda-I loved Kisscut. Karin Slaughter has a way of getting you emotionally by the throat, doesn't she? She is a new author for me and I truly enjoy her characters. Now I'm on my 2nd book
and this is comical, fun kinda read. I moved into my bedroom now as I needed a change of scenery. Here we go I'll check back w/ ya gals in about 2 hrs. Happy Reading
Thenia its a great book, definitely intimidating, but well worth it. I think its a great series. I am finding that after each book I need a break since they are so packed with stories/adventure/details, etc.
Pam I am so sorry to hear your reading time cut short, hopefully you won't have to work too late tomorrow and will be able to sit back and relax once the excitement dies down.
Ok, I'm 1/2 into my book, Make him Look Good and I'm getting sleepy. I think I'm gonna throw in the towel. Good Luck everyone with their reading!
I just finished Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. It annoyed me too much at times and it caused countless eyerolls but the ending touched me... What can I say? I'm a hopeless romantic...Now, it's either Neverwhere or Outlander! I've finally managed to tie up the loose ends a little and get back on truck with my challenges. I also haven't slept at all and I think I'll keep it up for a little while longer.
