Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to some change at work, my online time will be quite limited, and I will not be able to oversee this Tournament as well as I can. On that note, Tracy had graciously accepted my request for help. So she will be RRRC's Tournament Coordinator. She will be available to answer questions and tally points when participants are ready.

That sounds fair, thanks Tracy. I noticed some people keeping a tally for each book and it felt like cheating to count these ones just because the font is bigger. :)

colleen (colleenfl) | 458 comments Tracy,

I'm doing the Title Relay and I have a question about counting numerals and symbols used in titles. Here are some examples:

1st to Die
Wolf Tales IV
Claude & Camille: A Novel of Monet

I think each of the above titles would count as three words, since the symbol and numerals are used as a word. I'd like an official opinion though. Thanks.

Colleen - Good question - I believe that the examples you provided would represent Three word Titles since the numeral/symbol clearly are interpreted as a word.
i.e. 1st = First
IV = Four
& = and

Yzs said on an earlier post that you could choose on hyphenated titles, either just the words before or all.

Thanks for the quick response, Tracy.

colleen (colleenfl) | 458 comments Tracy,

I had to split my tracks up because the list was too long.
#88 is now my Track 1 and #146 is my Track 2.

message 260: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 38 comments Thanks Colleen - I've made a note of that and will get the list updated. Boy, your off of a rockin' start!!

message 261: by colleen (new)

colleen (colleenfl) | 458 comments Tracy,

My list for track 2 got too long for one message so it's now #146 and #148.

Mary - If you need to split into another post that's fine, please just make a statement on the *new* post that you are 'continuing list from post #X'.

In terms of listing page numbers - no you don't have to post number of pages - HOWEVER, the point structure is designed to give a BONUS 5 points to any book over 400 pages - the only way I'll know to award those points would be if you posted the page count.

Chloe West (chlxee) | 61 comments Can books overlap in different tracks, or not at all?

message 264: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 38 comments Chloe wrote: "Can books overlap in different tracks, or not at all?"

Books on a the same track can not overlap dates. However, if you were reading two books for two different tracks at the same time that is fine.

for example:
Track One: read 8/15-8/16
Track Two: read 8/14-8/17
Is fine....

What will not work is:
Track One: read 8/15-8/16
Track One: read 8/14-8/17

message 265: by Dina (new)

Dina (missdina) | 807 comments Tracy, I had to split my list:
- message #13: Track One
- message #152: Track Two
- messages #153 & #154: reserved for future use (yup, I'm verrry optimistic, LOL)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments I don't think you can use 1 book for 2 tracks if that's what you meant.

message 269: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (lillieblue613) | 86 comments I'm dropping out as I didn't read the rules and have not been reading the books in order. Too many other challenges going right now.

Andrea - I'm sorry to hear that, but I understand.
Please leave your orginial post (vs. deleting) otherwise it will throw off the numbering.

message 271: by AmandaG (new)

AmandaG (amandag3) | 254 comments Tracy: Just an FYI, I'm post #143 listed as Amanda (from TX). I changed my screen name to AmandaG. With multiple Amandas, hopefully this will help things a bit.

Thanks! I'll get that updated!

message 273: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 4413 comments Tracy, I'm doing two different tracks, and have reached the point where I have to start a new post. I can move all of one track to the new post, and thus have only one track in each post, or I can just continue both tracks in the new post. If you haven't started doing any tabulating, my preference would be to move track two so I can see each track in its entirety, but you're the one who has to do the tabulation. Which would you prefer?

message 274: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 38 comments BJ Rose -

I'm fine with you move the entire second track to a new posting...no problems! In the end - it will be easier all the way around to keep a track in it's own post.

Thanks! Tracy

Thanks, Tracy - will do that now

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments there is #2 running right now - it was using popular baby names and finding characters names to match - but i think its almost over

message 280: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments The baby name challenge just finished. I'm wondering what they'll put up next.
