I feel it is time to share the list that I have come up with so far. Some letters are indeed missing, and some have more than one. But YAY that is allowed =D. I'll be working on finding some of the missing letters though.

I totally realize that I probably cannot read all of these in the three months we have, but I like putting it all down, see my options etc. Heh, I suppose I am a list junkie.

Amy - I was thinking the same thing. I just wanted to search my TBR list by title...it would have made things so much easier. LOL!

You can sort your to-read list by title if you click on the header. That's what I did, too!

I will start up a new thread for reporting points on Thursday. And yes, you'll just comment with the info. I'll ask that you give me the title, author, tasks the book works for (i.e. award winner, Kellee's challenge for July) and total points you calculated for that book.

I've got an Excel workbook set up with formulas galore, so I'm hoping it will work to keep our tallies straight. :)

Hey Angela - I've got a couple questions. Will books we start reading prior to 7/1 count, as long as more than half the book is read after 7/1? And do you have to read books from A to Z before doubling up on letters? Also, are we going to earn any extra points if books are over a certain length?

Thanks for doing this. It can be time-consuming to setup and run a Challenge, so we appreciate you doing this. Bet your spreadsheet is awesome! That should help a lot.

Great questions, thanks Laura! You guys think of things I don't! Sooo, I'll say yes to books less than 50% read on 7/1. No, you don't have to read all the letters before doubling up (extra letters are worth less points anyway). And, no extra points for longer books. But keep in mind if there's a tie at the end total pages read will come into play.

With the +5 points for being an award winner- Is that just a one +5, or is that +5 per award it has won?
I know that The House of the Scorpion won a Newbery and a Printz honor, and I believe it might have also been and ALA notable or something similar.
So, is is +5 per award, or just +5 per book?

I was curious if any award works, or does it have to be a major award like Newbery or Printz? Can it be ALA Top Ten, for example?

+5 for it winning one or more awards, not +5 per award

I'm pretty lax on award standards, but I think it should be an actual award (honor or main) and not just part of a Barnes & Noble's booklist or something. Does that make sense?

Yeah. I think if GR lists it in the awards on the book's profile, it should work.

That's what I did. If GR has it with an award, I gave myself 5 points.

Yep- Just click on the book and in the description box it lists any awards.

Okay, soooo... I'm kinda sorta going to be attempting this challenge. At least, it's making me order (and make LISTS!) the books that I'm going to be reading over the next few months. Not sure Alyson. Isn't there a thread where people have posted already? I think so. From what I remember I think everyone is posting their book, all the categories it fits into and then the points.

Quick question about paranormal: do Angels cound as paranormal?

Yes, I think ARCs are fine. If the book is listed on GR, we'll use the page total it gives here. If it's too new, then we'll use whatever the actual page count is for your copy.

Alyson, to post points, you go to the "Reading Challenge #5 - Report Points Here" thread and just post them in a comment. I will be updating the leaderboard as often as possible. Be sure to list for me all of the points your book qualifies for (whether it's an award winner, or fits Kellee's challenges or whatever).

I'm pretty easy on the genres.. I'd say angels would fit paranormal or fantasy/supernatural. Your call. :)

Excellent! That was how I was going to do it (I listen at work - books are vital for my job!) but hearing this makes me look forward to it even more!

Okay great. I was planning on using it as paranormal.

So- I just had to complain!! I am currently reading Redwall and it is really good so far, but the writing is really small and I broke my nose on Tuesday and have a really hard time reading... and the small print IS NOT helping. :( I was hoping to read 15-20 books this month, but it is not going so well so far.

And I know, you are going to say switch books, but I can't do that. Part of my mild OCD is I have an order and I have to follow it... :P
