Question, if a book has two authors, could it still work? For example, Will Grayson, Will Grayson was written by both John Green and David Levithan. Does Green knock it out of contention if I wished to pair the book with Peter David?

One of the names needs to match a last name. If you read a book by someone named Elizabeth, you need to read another book of an author who's LAST name is also Elizabeth.

LOL, I did the same thing.
You have to match it to the first author's last name only. For example, if you read Elizabeth Strout, the second book would need to be by an author with a first or last name of Strout. That's right, right? I'm easily confused. :o)
Edited for thread clarity
Liz wrote: "Cait & Elizabeth, I'm confused. Cait, what did you delete? :)"Haha, sorry. I initially wrote that your George Eliot/George Orwell example wouldn't work, but then I saw that you had written "or", not "and".
Ok, maybe I can help this way: this is a fabulous site for several reasons, not the least of which there is a list of authors listed alphabetically.http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/
Or Up from Slavery by Booker T. Washington And something by Washington IrvingOR Washington Irving and Irving Stone

I don't see a problem with two authors, as long as one of them is a match.

Thank you! I got really excited at the prospect of reading [book:Sir Apropos of Nothing for the first time in about 5 years~ And then Will Grayson, Will Grayson, which is just about the only Levithan I haven't read yet lol
Just checking to make sure I'm doing this correctly, From my TBR:

Mary Stewart...Stewart O'Nan

Would this count?Frank Herbert and
H. G. Wells, short for Herbert George Wells
Wells's real name is Herbert George Wells, even though most books list his name as H. G. Wells.

Sorry, I'm going to require the use of the name they used as a published author.
I've decided on my books for this task I'm going to read the The Last Dickens by Matthew Pearl and Baby Brother's Blues by Pearl Cleage. I had been looking for somewhere to put these two.
Jessica Day George (ya/fairy tales) ->George Orwell (classics) or
George Bernard Shaw (classics) or
Margaret George (memoirs of cleopatra) or
George R.R. Martin (fantasy) or
George Lucas (star wars) or
George Eliot (classics) ... and more options to go!

Too many choices! ;)
Trying to decide between these three:The House at Riverton by Kate Morton AND Fallen by Lauren Kate
Uglies by Scott Westerfeld AND The Alchemyst by Michael Scott
Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts AND The White Queen by Philippa Gregory

Uglies is amazing, and my students say that The Alchemyst is great, so that'd be my vote!
I'm thinking The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There with Lewis being the connector. OR can the two authors be related? i.e. can I read two books by the Bronte sisters? Has everyone seen this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NKXNT...
I have a question, someone suggested Chiristopher Paolini and John Christopher as a author combo. I thought the author's last name of the first book had to be either the first or the last name of the author in the second book. So I don't know if Christopher Paolini and John Christopher would work.
Jayme wrote: "I have a question, someone suggested Chiristopher Paolini and John Christopher as a author combo. The first or last name of one author has to match the last name of the other author. Since Christopher Paolini's first name is "Christopher" & his last name is "Paolini," that would mean in order for him to match with another author, the other author's last name would either have to be Christopher or Paolini. John Christopher's last name is also Christopher, so they're a match.
Jayme wrote: "I have a question, someone suggested Chiristopher Paolini and John Christopher as a author combo. I thought about Maggie O`Farrell and John O`Farrell but already I used John O`Farrell in task 25.5 (May contain nuts). Is there possibility to use the same author (in all challenge) but different book?
Aleksandra wrote: "I thought about Maggie O`Farrell and John O`Farrell but already I used John O`Farrell in task 25.5 (May contain nuts). I think I'm going to do a Chandler/Chandler combination. I'm going to re-read The Big Sleep and read Chandler Burr's other book A Separate Creation: The Search for the Biological Origins of Sexual Orientation
