Which book?

I am reading Last Days of Summer by Steve Kluger it's not really YA, but it has a 12 year old. It is really good so far.

No I mean which book were you referring to when you said "I stuck to it and it was good!"? :)

message 406: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Chachic: Not having a reading slump, oh how I would love to be reading a good book right now! Just overwhelmed with classes and work. They take up every bit of my time so there is no room for reading.

Brittany: I can imagine Grad school would be overwhelming as well! It is sad isn't it? Maybe we can read a few books over Christmas break!

Brigid: Yes, Monsters of Men was amazing! I would re-read the whole series now if I had time. Maybe I would better appreciate the first book.

Finished this and loved it. Sorry everyone has been too busy to read :(

message 408: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) Still working on "Fallout" by Ellen Hopkins. I've finished "Evermore" by Alyson Noel. I'm going to start reading the second installment "Blue Moon". Also I will be starting "Erec Rex: The Three Furies" by Kaza Kingsley.

message 409: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Kourtni and Brittany, I'm sad that you guys don't have time to read lately. :( Back in my previous job, I didn't have time to read either because we had so much work to do.

Anyway, I'm done reading Bayou Moon so I've moved on to this one:

The Road Home (Point Signature) by Ellen Emerson White

:D Yay! I need to reread them too. Although I think the third was definitely the best. The first I loved, but when I was reading it I thought it was just sort of an "adventure" book, and then the story got a lot heavier … Maybe if I read it again I'll notice more of the hidden-depth stuff. I just got a ton of Barnes & Noble gift card money so I'm definitely going to buy the first two books so I'll have them all! :]

So, I finished The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake, which started to bore me towards the end so I skimmed through a lot of it. :/ Today I read As Easy as Falling Off the Face of the Earth, which was cute but also kind of boring.

Now I've started The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella but I'm only on page 10 or so, so I can't really pass judgment yet. At least this one focuses on vampires who actually eat people … XD

I am reading Size 12 Is Not Fat (Heather Wells, #1) by Meg Cabot and listening to Love Her to Death (Daytime Mystery, #2) by Linda Palmer .

Still not done with Bree Tanner but I also started reading Thief Eyes and I'm about halfway through. Fun read so far. :)

message 414: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I just started this:

Firelight (Firelight, #1) by Sophie Jordan

message 415: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) Right noooow

I am reading The Exiled Queen (Seven Realms, #2) by Cinda Williams Chima right now and it's great so far.
Also slowly plodding along in The Angel's Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafón . Interesting so far.

Finshed reading The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner An Eclipse Novella by Stephenie Meyer yesterday.

I plan on starting Halo (Halo, #1) by Alexandra Adornetto soon … but I won't get it from the library until tomorrow. Today I should probably read some thing from the huge pile of used books I bought …

message 417: by Amelia (last edited Oct 12, 2010 02:59PM) (new)

Amelia | 38 comments Just finished for Dewey's 24-hour Read-a-thon (which took place Saturday):
The Search for WondLa by Tony DiTerlizzi Dirty Little Secrets by C.J. Omololu Jump by Elisa Carbone Wish by Alexandra Bullen

That just adds more to my need-to-blog list and I checked out a butt-load of books from the library over the last week. I'm hoping to catch up by the end of the month... maybe.

Firelight has a gorgeous cover, so some needs to tell me if the story inside matches the cover.

message 418: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Finished Firelight and I'm reading this one now:

Cold Magic (Spiritwalker, #1) by Kate Elliott

message 420: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Finished Cold Magic and I read this in one day because it's pretty short:

Grace by Elizabeth Scott

Just started on:

Honey, Baby, Sweetheart by Deb Caletti

message 421: by Chachic (new)

CHACHIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU FOR ASKING ABOUT MY THOUGHTS ON CELIA. SO FAR I AM REALLY ENJOYING IT. COULD YOU PLEASE WHIP UP A FRUIT PIE FOR MY PEOTRY GROUP? IF YOU DON'T WANT TO THAT IS FINE. IF YOU DO, WHY DON'T YOU THINK ABOUT THINGS THAT ARE ROUND AND GET BACK TO ME.

message 423: by Chachic (new)

Chachic HI HEIDI, OVER HERE, ON THIS GOODREADS THREAD! GOOD TO HEAR THAT YOU'RE LIKING THE BOOK SO FAR. IF YOU'RE NOT BUSY, MAYBE YOU CAN LIST DOWN THE REASONS WHY YOU LIKE IT?

Hahaha Jaclyn Moriarty is hilarious. Her only book that I haven't read yet is Ghosts of Ashbury High.

… I feel like I'm missing something.

Anywayyy so yeah. I'm in the middle of Halo right now, and it's kind of pissing me off so far. :-/ It's excessively long and plotless, just another teen paranormal fantasy where the girl is a Mary Sue and the boy is all flawless and heroic. And yes, I'm a little (REALLY) bitter because the girl who wrote it is my age, and I don't understand why her book can get published and mine can't. *grinds teeth together*

No, it's really not very good at all … I agree, the cover's really pretty. But the cover's probably the best part. :P nyuck nyuck. Why have there been no good teen authors since S.E. Hinton? Doesn't really help my reputation …

message 430: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) I finished reading "Fallout" by Ellen Hopkins. Extremely good book. It was a nice ending to the trilogy. I am now concentrating on "Blue Moon" by Alyson Noel and "Erec Rex: The Three Furies" by Kaza Kingsley

message 431: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) YAY more Jaclyn Moriarty fans! I read her first three Ashbury books a few years ago and fell in love with them; now I'm hoarding The Ghosts of Ashbury High because it's the last one and I don't want to finish the series yet!

I'm reading The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan and it's starting to get good...!

I'm also reading The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón right now and I'm LOVING it like crazy!

GAAH LOST HERO WANNA READ IT SO BAD *FROTHS AT MOUTH* Only a little bit obsessed. Just a little.

Ooh I really liked Shadow of the Wind too! It was kinda weird and creepy … but good. :) I remember I was reading it and my dad's like "Isn't that a Pocahontas song?" and I'm like "Nooo that's COLORS of the Wind!" nyuck nyuck

message 433: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Amy, you're a Jaclyn Moriarty fan too! I've enjoyed reading the first three books and I look forward to picking up Ghosts of Ahsbury High. One of my blog friends said it's the best out of all the books in the series.

I'm currently reading:

White Cat (Curse Workers, Book 1) by Holly Black

message 434: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Sure! I plan to post a review of it once I'm done. So far I'm liking it better that Holly Black's faerie books.

MONSTERS OF MEN. <3 A;LDKFJ;SJKDD.

Anyway. I finished Halo. It was not very good. Blah. Now I've finally picked up The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo again, and now that I'm on page 200 or so things are finally getting interesting … :P

message 439: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Heidi, stick with Jellicoe Road because it gets better.

I just started on:

The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets by Eva Rice

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 148 comments Agree with Heidi... WTH? If nothing else it's just one of those staple series. I reference it about as much as Harry Potter and compare characters. I guess I'll have to watch myself around you two.

Oh and Bluemoon.... we might HAVE to do the book thing where you read Mockingjay and I read Knife of Never Letting Go. Good thing from my end is that if I get hooked at least all 3 books are already out!
