Chachic Oooh I want to read Honey, Baby, Sweetheart! Let me know what you think of it when you're done listening, Heidi.

message 352: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (chloebooklover) | 33 comments I am currently reading The Breakup Bible... It's good but so far not amazing me.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 148 comments So for those of you who are fans of the Chaos Walking Series I have a question. I tried reading the 1st book and just never really was interested. Should I try to pick it up again?? It just wasn't that interesting to me to start so I put it down and never looked back. You guys are making me re-think this decision.

message 354: by Kourtni (last edited Aug 31, 2010 12:10PM) (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Brittany it literally took me over 100 pages to get into the first book, I can't remember exactly when, but shortly after there I got hooked. I got a little more insight as to what the heck was going on and totally fell in love with the characters. I don't know how far you got the first time, but I recommend giving it another try because it did take me a while to get into it and I almost gave up. Now I'm loving it.

Yes.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 148 comments Well, I started when it was our monthly read.

I got to the point where he met the girl. I know a girl, what a novelty! It wasn't long after that when I gave up.

message 357: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments That's exactly where I wanted to give up too. My advice is try going a little further. I liked it so so much better after that point. And the second book was great.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 148 comments Alright Kourtni, I'll give it another try. I'll let you know how it goes.

message 359: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (chloebooklover) | 33 comments Finished The Breakup Bible, now I'm reading Deadly Little Secret. Looking pretty good so far....

I wasn't interested in TKONLG at first either. It takes a while to get used to the writing style and the somewhat confusing plot. But once I got about halfway through I was totally hooked. And the second and third books are AMAZING. :)

Sooo right now I'm reading …

Passing Strange (Generation Dead, #3) by Daniel Waters

Although I've taken a bit of a break from it because I was reading Clockwork Angel all day yesterday. And it was one of those books that was so darn good I feel like I can't read anything else for a while … ;)

message 363: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I'm currently reading:

Feeling Sorry for Celia by Jaclyn Moriarty

message 364: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) Chachic I loved that book! I love that author in general :) Let me know what you think of it!

I went to get this from the library yesterday and I couldn't find it even though it was listed as there. Bummer. I did get the first Kate Daniel's book though so that should make you and Peep happy :)

message 366: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Amy, I have a review of The Year of Secret Assignments in my blog: http://chachic.wordpress.com/2010/09/... That was my first Jaclyn Moriarty. I'm enjoying Feeling Sorry for Celia now. :)

Heidi, I hope they find this book for you! Yes to the Kate Daniels series! I hope you end up liking the books as much as Peep did.

message 367: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Just got Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare and Monsters of Men (Chaos Walking, #3) by Patrick Ness in the mail! I'm about halfway through Clockwork Angel. It's just okay so far.

message 368: by Amelia (new)

Amelia | 38 comments @Cass,
I know a coworker who raves about SHUG. I haven't read either of these books, but I thought you might be interested in a side by side comparison of their covers:

Skinny by Ibi Kaslik Shug by Jenny Han

I've seen them in person, and yes they are the exact same popsicle, just flipped and recolored.

message 369: by Amelia (new)

Amelia | 38 comments OMGoodness! Listening to Catching Fire right now on audio... narrator gets better after the first couple chapters, and the twists are amazing! Don't spoil it ladies (and gents?), I'll let you know when I finish it.

message 370: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Still reading Jaclyn Moriarty's books, I'm now on:

The Murder Of Bindy Mackenzie (Ashbury/Brookfield, #3) by Jaclyn Moriarty

I am in too many groups so I feel like I repeat this post all the time. Anyhoo, I am reading and/or listening to Are These My Basoomas I See Before Me? (Confessions of Georgia Nicolson, #10) by Louise Rennison , The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen , and Airhead (Airhead, #1) by Meg Cabot .

message 372: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (chloebooklover) | 33 comments I am reading The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins . I'm on about page 100, and I'm really liking it so far. I'm just waiting for the fighting to begin :)

message 373: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Heidi, have you read Sarah Addison Allen's other books? I have Sugar Queen and Garden Spells and I'm planning to read them soon.

message 374: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I put the Murder of Bindy Mackenzie on hold to read this one:

The President's Daughter (2008 Revision) by Ellen Emerson White

and I finished it last night so now I'm back to the Jaclyn Moriarty book.

message 375: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Just finished Monsters of Men (Chaos Walking, #3) by Patrick Ness last night!! It was FABulous! This has to be one of my favorite books, I can't say enough good things about it.

This is my first book by her, but I like it a lot so far.

Chachic Let me know what you think when you're done reading it, Heidi!

message 378: by Amelia (new)

Amelia | 38 comments Ok, finished Catching Fire on Friday, now need to find the time to read Mockingjay. I'll hopefully be done by the end of the week (crossing fingers).

message 379: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Currently reading:

White House Autumn (2008 Revision) by Ellen Emerson White

The second book in the President's Daughter series. I didn't really like the first one but that's probably because I don't live in the States so I didn't really understand the politics.

I'm reading Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta and listening to The Book of Three (The Chronicles of Prydain, #1) by Lloyd Alexander and Avalon High by Meg Cabot .

message 381: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Heidi, I want to read Finnikin but it's not available here! It's the only Marchetta that I haven't read.

I finished these two the past few days:

Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre Rules of Attraction (Perfect Chemistry, #2) by Simone Elkeles

and I'm currently reading:

Camilla by Madeleine L'Engle

message 382: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Finnikin is on my list to read too. I've heard lots of good things about it. Are you liking it so far Heidi?

message 386: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Kourtni, are you experiencing a reader's slump? :( Hey, if you're interested in Melina Marchetta's books, I recommend Jellicoe Road:

Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

It's not fantasy but YA contemporary fiction and it's one of my favorite reads this year.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 148 comments I feel you Kourtni. I don't have time to read right now either. It's a bit sad really. Grad school apps have consumed my life! Soon though, one day soon I will be able to read again.

Anyway … I just finished reading Eyes Like Stars today. It was cute.

I started reading The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake, which is alright so far but I have a feeling it's going to go downhill. We'll see. :P

Eyes Like Stars (Théâtre Illuminata, #1) by Lisa Mantchev The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender

Chachic wrote: "Brigid, I have Eyes Like Stars but I haven't read it yet."

It's an entertaining book, but there isn't much of a compelling plot. The world is original, but it sort of leaves a lot to be desired … that is, I found it difficult to understand why it exists. I think you'll see what I mean when you read it. Mostly the book relies on humor; and even that's only funny if you have some basic Shakespeare knowledge. Luckily I've had to read a lot for school … lol. :)

message 393: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Oh not that great then. No need to hurry to read it then. It's not high on my TBR anyway.

No, not really. It was just okay, for me.

message 395: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) I had to officially put "Fallen" down . I had no more motivation to read it anymore. So now I am concentrating on "Fallout" by Ellen Hopkins and finishing "Evermore" by Alyson Noel.

Fallen by Lauren Kate? I thought it was okay … Nothing really special, though. I haven't read Fallout … didn't like Evermore much, though.

message 397: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I'm not planning to read Fallen. I haven't read anything good about it.

message 399: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) It's probably the worse YA novel of the year.

message 400: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (chloebooklover) | 33 comments I'm currently reading Unbelievable (Pretty Little Liars, #4) by Sara Shepard , the 4th book in the PLL series. I'm only on page 40, but I love the whole series, so you really can't go wrong!
