Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Yeah I hear ya. I noticed the things that irked you, but they didn't bother me all that much. Different readers like/dislike different things and that is just fine with me!

I would just like to find someone who liked them as much as I did.

Kourtni a ton of people loved Divergent - I am actually outnumbered on my feelings. I am not sure why the things that bothered me did-- sometimes I can just go with books and sometimes I get overly picky and then everything starts bothering me. Who knows...it may have been my mood. I had just finished Chaos Walking and I think that had the biggest effect - it just didn't compare for me. I wonder if I would have liked it more if I read it at a different time. We'll never know!

Kourtni- I actually loved Divergent, read it twice. I am glad you love the series so far, makes me look forward to reading Insurgent.
I just finished Pandemonium (Delirium, #2) by Lauren Oliver and oh my gosh! Thats all I can say without spoiling it because I don't actually know how to hide spoilers. :)

Now I am reading Black Heart (Curse Workers, #3) by Holly Black .

Heidi- have you gotten your audio of Cinder yet? I'm still looking forward to hearing what you think of it, actually same goes for Brigid too.

Haha, I see how if you'd just read Chaos Walking it would be hard not to compare the two. It's one of those series where, after you read it, for a while everything just pales in comparison. XD

Oh, I still need to read Pandemonium. Gah! And I need to finish Cinder too. I've really enjoyed what I've read of it, but I've gotten sidetracked by a lot of other books for some reason ... Maybe I'll try to finish reading it today. ;)

LOL Brigid - do you have one specific location on your wall that you hurl books at (so that there's only one hole) or is your wall pockmarked with indents?!

message 2808: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Heidi - Well that totally explains it. Of course it doesn't compare to Chaos Walking!! Ah well, you can't love them all.

Bridget - Yay! Glad you loved it too!

message 2809: by [deleted user] (new)

I'll get to Divergent one of these days. I promise!

I'm reading The Iron Knight (Iron Fey, #4) by Julie Kagawa but haven't read in almost a month. I love this series though so I need to get back to reading.

Anyway, today I started:

City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5) by Cassandra Clare

... Finally. I'm about 100 pages in and I'm not sure how I feel about it so far. It's okay and all, but it's not on the same level as the first three books. Personally I still think she should have stopped writing the series after City of Glass, but ah well. It's still entertaining at least, even if it is a bit ridiculous ... :P

Emma (emnor) Brigid, I have that on hold! I am really excited :)

I am currently reading Inheritance. I have started it a few times since it came out but I never finished it. But I am going to this time!!! Also, I just picked up Bitterblue from the library... It's nice and thick :)

Christy | 7 comments Hey everyone! Okay so I am at a complete loss as to what I should read next. I loveeeee realistic fiction. I'm not a huge Sarah Dessen fan (I have tried multiple books by her and have found that I'm not a huge fan) but I am pretty open to anything. I love summer settings and my absolute favorite book is Twenty Boy Summer. Any suggestions?

I am not a Dessen fan. For romance I loved Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins Anna and the French Kiss and liked Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson Amy and Roger's Epic Detour have you read either of those?? I am also a huge fan of the Boyfriend list series The Boyfriend List 15 Guys, 11 Shrink Appointments, 4 Ceramic Frogs and Me, Ruby Oliver (Ruby Oliver, #1) by E. Lockhart The Boyfriend List: 15 Guys, 11 Shrink Appointments, 4 Ceramic Frogs and Me, Ruby Oliver. Have you read anything by Melina Marchetta?? She is a Goddess in my opinion. Did you want light summer books or just good books in general??

I just recently read
The Disenchantments The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour and that was about life after graduation. Paper Towns Paper Towns by John Green was during a senior year but Margo is kind of a B in the book so I didn't love it but I really love John Green. Also the book I just mentioned in the other post Anna and the French Kiss takes place during her senior year. Congrats on your graduation btw!!!

Well, I second Heidi's recommendation of Anna and the French Kiss. It's definitely one of my favorite YA romances! Oh, and I like Melina Marchetta as well (although I've only read two of her books...).

Some other things you might try:

The Fault in Our Stars
Lucas
Candy
What My Mother Doesn't Know
North of Beautiful
Suite Scarlett
The Bermudez Triangle

Well, today I devoured:

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

I know! It took me forever to get around to reading it. But once I picked it up, I couldn't stop. It was awesome.

Now I'm going to read:

The Monstrumologist (The Monstrumologist, #1) by Rick Yancey

I've heard mixed things about this one, sooo ... we'll see how it goes.

Oh and Brigid as you are a young person (and I am not) would you say that you took notice with how they talked in Fault in Our Stars?? A few of my GR mentioned issues with how they talked to one another (someone thought they said "like" too much) but I didn't notice anything weird. They talked a lot like my 16 year old niece.

The Monstrumologist (The Monstrumologist, #1) by Rick Yancey

Really starting to get into it ... It's very scary and exciting. :)

Also reading:

Son of the Shadows (Sevenwaters, #2) by Juliet Marillier

... Mostly just so I have something to read during meals, because The Monstrumologist is rather gruesome. :P
