I just finished .

It's a cute, fast read at just around 200 pages, so I was able to knock it out in a couple of hours, which is a nice break from so many of the longer reads I've had to tackle lately.

This story is a retelling of the classic Beauty and the Beast set in modern day NYC. You can tell that the story is targeted at younger YA though, and I thought the male character wasn't written to sound very male, but it was a fun book.

Oh and Carrie, the Fever series is another set of books that keep getting better as they go on. Book 1 was only about a 3 star read for me, but by the time I got to book 4 I was giving it 5 stars. Books 3 and 4 are hard to put down.

I read and it's a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I loved it. It's closer to the Disney story than anything modern, but there are some differences.

Most of us just say if we liked it or not. Or, we include a description of the premise. The spoiler thing is if you're going to give away major details. Like whose still standing at the end of the book. That way we can get ideas of books to add to our TBR if we haven't read them, or see what others thought about things we have read. Plus, I didn't create a what are you reading now thread since I felt like it was redundant.

That is true, but even when you post a review here at GR you are supposed to mark of there are spoilers in it or not. I like to read what people think of books after they read them, but I don't want to be spoiled.

I guess it's just the moderator coming out in me. It's not really my job in this group, so I'll stop.

Best one in the series so far. They're more kids than YA, but each one gets a little closer to YA, hence, getting a little better. If she'd push them into the YA genre I'd recommend them, but since they aren't quite YA, I'd say if you come across them then good, but don't buy them.

Heather, I read the first one when I was in 6th grade and I remember enjoying it. I didn't know it was going to be a series so I never looked for a sequel, but now that I know I should really continue it. . .I remember the main characters being really fun to read about. :)

They're fun. They're very light with little actual substance, but I'll still anxiously await the next one. If you liked book 1, try Heist Society. It's actually YA.

I read the first (GG) but found it so predictable I didn't bother with the rest. Do they improve in that sense?

They get a little less so, but umm...in the second book really a plot arch starts that gives you something to wonder over. It gets to be more apparent in book 3. However, they're on that verge between children's and YA so they're not exactly mysteries. I did like them all better than book 1 though. Maybe something to read with your kids?

I finished , I really liked some parts of it, but there were times it was a little slow for me. I would give it 3.5 stars. It will be interesting to see where things go in the next book, but I am not dying to read it.

I finished Carpe Jugulum and liked it. I didn't really want to read about vampires in a book with Granny, Nanny, Magrat, and Agnes in it. I knew there would be some harm done before the book was over. I love those witches!

Don't worry about it. I did the exact same thing a little while ago with the third Night Huntress book. :) It happens all the time, we just have to remember to give people the option to read things that could be possible spoilers. Any time you are not sure, just put Spoiler and a few spaces in between. No biggie.

I think the ending of this books was completely and utterly annoying. I mean REALLY?!?!? I wish the author had just left the book alone and not done an epilogue. -_-

I enjoyed reading this book, but I must say, the fact that it's marketed as a "true story" is annoying. I didn't let that interfere with my star rating. . .but still. ugh.

I know that some people review saying that you can't get addicted to drugs after one time. Now I'm no expert, so I don't know if you can or not, but I must say that I don't feel like Alice was truly addicted until she ran away that second time. In the beginning, she chose to do drugs after that first time she was slipped some. She WANTED to experiment, I don't feel like she HAD to. Also, in the beginning she stopped taking drugs a couple of times and she didn't go through any type of detox, at least I don't think, and isn't that what usually happens if you're addicted and don't get drugs?

I felt horrible for Alice throughout the book. Yes, she did annoy me by running away a couple of times, but I understand how she felt lonely, and how hard it can be to not have friends, and want to relate to someone. After all, don't we all want to relate to at least one person?

Overall this book was good, but I didn't think there was anything that special about it.

But she wasn't even addicted in my opinion. She didn't have cravings for it, wasn't sad or felt like her life was over without drugs, and she wasn't sick or anything.

Can you please put a spoiler alert up? :) Some people haven't read the book and might not want to know exactly what happens to her. :) I'm debating putting a spoiler alert above my review. . .but I don't think it's a big deal to say she ran away a few times. . .hmm. . .

GRRR...spoilers... I just have to say I hate this. I totally understand why their necessary and I don't like knowing what's going to happen in a lot of books, but being a spoiler Nazi sucks too. Sorry guys.

How about this:
If it's not on the back cover, good reads summary, in the first 50 pages of the book, or just a general I liked the story, character x is funny, i liked how the book ended, etc... put up spoiler just to be safe.

I just gave up on Urban Shaman.
The tone was good and it had some humor but I like my books with a little romance and I just didn't see this book going that way.

At least in the first few books she keeps giving you hope for the possibility of romance, but nothing ever happens. It's rather frustrating. It's my big complaint with the book. Either have the romance or don't, but don't hint at it and then avoid it.

I really like Perfect Chemistry. I was in a plane for 4 hrs while reading this book and sometimes I bust out laughing. I got a lot of weird look but it didn't care.I think I'll will pick up Leaving Paradise. Thanks for your review.

The tone is good but, it seems more like a horror novel than Urban Fantasy. The town is off the map and evil. There is something evil in the woods. People dying before they can give up clues- sounds a lot like Stephen King or Dean Koontz to me.

I finished reading Maskerade. This book was really a mystery. The sleuths were Granny, Nanny (witches), and Agnes (maybe witch). They solved a case involving multiple murders. I bit different from the other books that have them as characters.

Terry is a he. I can't get into some of his books, but I'm going to try to read them all eventually. He has a strange sense of humor. The books I have read I really enjoy. The Tiffany Aching series got me interested in the discworld books. There are currently 3 books = The Wee Free Men, A Hat Full of Sky and Wintersmith. I've read that his books shouldn't be read in chronological order, but by the characters. Tiffany Aching is a YA series. I do love the witches (Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, Magrat, and Agnes). Witches Abroad, Lords and Ladies,Maskerade and Carpe Jugulum. Death's a good character, also. He talks in small upper caps and is really very kind (to good people).

Thanks for noting the gender. That's kind of important. I had a Roman History professor who was obsessive about Pratchett. I wouldn't even know the name if it weren't for him.
