Nick nodded reluctantly. "Everything will be fine," he said, his fingers still tapping on his leg.
"I don't mean it as a bad thing. I don't understand, it's just a smell that comes with mudbloods."
Anni fingered her wand nervously, wishing she could understand what was going on. So many secrets were coming out, the Hufflepuff fighting Akrisios, Lyra speaking... whatever it was she was speaking... If her's were to come out... She shook her head, shaking the thought away. It wouldn't, it couldn't.
Sean closed his eyes, breathing quietly, trying to calm himself. The girl he'd been talking to a few classes before had been just saying some strange things, in a foreign tongue, and now Anni was acting odd... It was just all a bit too much, at the moment.

Akrisios slid soundlessly beside her, intercepting her."Lyra, basilisks are trained to hunt mudbloods. We can only petrify them. Mudbloods carry a scent that draws us to them and angers us."His head tipped, tongue shooting out like flame. His lips drew back in a sort of smile, eyes scrunching."I'm sorry Lyra."
((lolz))
"What is happening?" Anni breathed, her fingers white at the knuckles as they clutched at her wand, nervous as anything. She didn't understand...

He lowered his head."'We' wouldn't want that? What do you possibly think they can do to me?"His head swerved back and forth."You know something? I believe I'm bored."
Creeping closer towards the door, Anni lightly set a shaking hand on its handle, waiting, wondering whether she dare open it. So many secrets, she hated secrets. Her whole life was a secret.
((Alright. I probably missed that.))
Receiving a warning glare from the teacher, she stepped back, relieved in someways of having been deprived of the choice.
Receiving a warning glare from the teacher, she stepped back, relieved in someways of having been deprived of the choice.
A low guttural sound erupted from deep within Akrisios's throat."Right. That's exactly what you meant." His head jerked sideways, as he adjusted to view the end of the corridor. His head tipped quizzically, Akrisios took a deep breath."And yet, it does not frighten me. There is nothing they would do to incur father's wrath. As much as it tempts me, I believe I will no longer be fatigued. Things are happening faster than thought possible Miss Lupin. But for now, I believe you should forget this encounter and return to class, you may also, for future reference, want to hold your tongue."He slithered from her path, darting quickly down the hall. He paused at the threshold of the abandoned classroom, casting uncertain eyes at Lyra. He quivered and disappeared inside.
Akrisios stumbled into the hallway drunkenly, sweeping his hair out of his face and behind his ears in a single gesture. He put his left hand against the wall to steady himself as the ground swayed beneath him. His eyes swept toward Lyra and he followed the wall to her."Hey, hold on. I'll go to the Room of Requirement. Right now, I'm going to the common rooms to cool down."A frown marred his features."Class is over?"
"Lyra, I understand. I'll keep an eye out for her, but I don't know why she'd leave. She's probably torturing Ava's cur or something. She's probably fine."He sighed."I broke my glasses. I'm going to have trouble reading until I can conjure a new pair. I don't think I'll be welcome in Defense Against the Dark Arts for a while and well, I understand I'm not the easiest person to get along with. I know why people here hate me, and it's even worse when mud-muggleborns she that hate and decide that's the way they should treat me also. I hate going out and being stared at. I hate it that people will neither forgive and forget. It's been three generations, you'd think a surname would no longer matter."
((Fine, thank you. And yourself?))
((Fine, thank you. And yourself?))
"It's not what I want to say. It's just the common term, muggleborn is simply politically correct. Surnames are powerful things in the wizarding world. Your breeding matters despite what the Ministry attempts to cover up. A pureblood family is often held in high esteem, where as halfbloods are simply frowned upon for being born from a muggle parent. Mudbloods are simply regarded as lucky. It is by pure chance and a drop of wizarding blood in both parents lineage that makes you. My mother...yes, it is her. But my great grandfather was not a coward, nor was his father."

((I'm sorry! Oh, and yeah, I forgot about Caleb.))
Caleb watched the door worriedly. He couldn't hear anything from the hall. What if Lyra's hurt? He stood up and started walking to the door, but a look from Professor Hayden sent him back to his seat.
Nick's head was really starting to hurt. This was definitely not how he'd expected this lesson to go. He pulled out his wand and kept it in his right hand. I'll give her another minute before I see what's up.

"He hates her, my father. I'm not even sure he ever loved her. I know what he's doing. He comes home at all hours and she acts like she doesn't see it. He overrules her constantly and does what he wants. I hate him. My mom never cried in her life. Not until he became the Minister. Thinks he's so great with his title and money, most of it hers. He wouldn't be anywhere without her. He hurts her. And she never lets me do anything about it."He looked up, jaw set."That's why I go here. I'll learn and I'll train. Then I can protect her. Though, he knows I already can. That's why he sent me away. He's afraid. He knows I won't hesitate to kill him. If he's hurt her, I will."

((Wait, Akrisios is a basilisk??? How is that possible? And why don't they like Professor Hayden? Dang, I'm behind...))
((Hey Jessica!Alyssa! Yeah, Akrisios and Lyra got into a verbal confrontation during DADA and he got really angry and changed into his animagus and warned Lyra through Parseltongue not to let anyone come out and to save his wand, he scared her and then let her go...and now he's talking to her.))

((HI!! Oops. Sorry, LD. I just skimmed. Ignore the last post about Nick then.))
Professor Hayden walked back to his desk and sighed. "Well, everything seems to be alright at the moment. As homework I would like each of you to write a paragraph on a famous duel in history. You can talk until class is over."
Caleb sank down slightly in his chair and was quiet.
Avery turned to Medea. "What do you think's going on?

Medea looked at Avery, not bothering to hide her emotions. Her eyes were upset and tense, and her face was etched with worry and confusion. She shook her head slowly. "I have absolutely no idea. But it's not good."
((No prob and bye.))
"I think that was the turning point. My magic was really weak until my uncle gave me some books. I read through them and didn't see the point with the incantations until I figured out what they were for. My mother helped me train, but I couldn't get the transformation right and kept getting stuck in a sort o between form. Erebus, he got into an argument with mom, threatened her with me. I was scared and angry that there was nothing I could do. I changed in the middle of a street. The freaking middle. They people, they ran. It was so confusing. I didn't mean to. Dad hid it well and decided I should be sent to Hogwarts because it was the farthest from home."His shook his head."You can't help me train. I'm more advanced than you, it won't help. I'd have to duel a stronger wizard, make sure I could hit a-"He clamped his mouth shut."This is none of your business. His face became an unidentifiable mask and he spun on his heel, shoes clicking on the floor.

((Wow Jessica, thanks. My characters are very strange and twisted. I like bad backgrounds, they can set up the stage for a lot of personality.))
((Yeah, they're always awesome sauce.))
Professor Hayden dismissed class and the students walked out. Caleb gathered his things and quickly walked to the Great Hall. He saw exactly what he expected. Lyra sitting alone at the table. He walked over and he saw tears in her eyes from the distance. Oh, please let me be able to help this time, he thought. He slowed down as he neared her. "Hey," he said quietly.

Akrisios strained to here her retreating footsteps from an alcove, as soon as he could no longer hear her, he smashed his fist into the rough stone of the enlarged doorway."Dammit!Mistake after mistake." His hand throbbed as he unclenched his fist, looking blankly at the blood welling on his knuckles.I deserved every bit of that. Everyone here hates me and hardly any of them have met me, given me a chance. His fingers grazed the chilled ore of the walls, all the while he chastised himself. He was withdrawn from others, everyone. No one would or could understand. No one walked the paths of his world and he wasn't about to force that upon them. His throat constricted, and in this moment of seclusion, in this school of hundreds of students, he felt completely and utterly alone. He let himself be dragged down by his silent burden, resting his forehead against the wall and indulged himself. Tears pricked the corners of his eyes. Everyone has someone in their world. Their parents, their siblings, their friends. Someone that cannot be replaced, someone who they would give their life for or that would give their life for them. Lyra has everything. She just doesn't see it. Her parents love her. And she has her cat. But in my world, there is no one but me. And in the time it took for silent sobs to wrack his body he found solace in the fact that this wasn't the first time he had cried.
((To damn bad, she has parents that like each other and she has the freaking cat...his mom doesn't do anything and his dad's a nom d'un chien.))
((Lol, I know, I just wasted my time writing that and I kind of liked it and then you're all like"Well blah blah blah."So now I'm going to rip off your head and spit down your throat.(;))
((Yes well, I bet you enjoyed that.))
((Good. You better have. Geez, your character is a butt, and mine is a smart donkey.))
