With 6 turnovers and still tied, the writing is on the wall for the Superbowl! Give Favre credit for being the tough guy we all loved in Green Bay!

message 302: by [deleted user] (new)

Green Bay? Okay, you two are both on my list now. It's not a good place to be. I'd hide if I were you.

message 303: by [deleted user] (new)

Lee....I love this book! I am trying to read slowly so that it lasts. The Wasted Vigil by Nadeem Aslam

message 304: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, like I said, we don't have a team in Iowa, not even one that ran away! xp

Tis sad, but true! My DH is a hard-core Vikings fan...needless to say he was NOT happy last night.

I posted a picture of Sarah and her daughters in the group photos. Take a look, they are all grown up!

[I hope you don't mind (delete it if you do).:]

message 307: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) There's some way to post pictures right in your message thread but I don't know how members do it.

We probably shouldn't leave up the photo as a group photo but it's fine until Lee and other members see it. Just my opinion. (Is it public domain, do you know?)

message 308: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't think about that. I just figure that anything I can google and save to my disk is "public domain". I haven't quite figured out how to post a picture to a thread, but then you'd have to delete the post instead of just deleting the picture. It's okay by me whatever you decide to do.

message 309: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Jeannette, I don't think anyone is going to sue us. ;-) I'll leave it up for Lee to view. If she's not exhausted after moving, she'll probably be signing in tomorrow evening.

Not hiding! :) I love that there are other women out there I can razz with football talk! I'm sticking close to you, Christine! :)

Paula | 184 comments By the way, Christine, Dixie's blog is hilarious. I have a book suggestion for you - Walking in Circles Before Lying Down A Novel by Merrill Markoe - have you heard of it?

It's a book written from the perspective of the dog, which is what I immediately thought of with Dixie's blog. She would have been a great 'voice' in that book.

And, the three of us are practically neighbors! And we all have dogs! So, we've got to stick together! Even after the Colts win! lol

Thank you! She tends to lock me out of the office when she is blogging so I can't take credit. :)
I HAVE that book...I just noticed it in one of my piles. I will definitely move it up. Thanks!

message 314: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeannette, Do you seriously think the Colts could win? I mean...errrr....yeah, sure they could. :)

We're practically neighbors, really? That's cool! I'm north of Chicago (actually, south Wisconsin, but work in the northern Chicago burbs). Sorry, I'm sure it was mentioned elsewhere, but where are you?

I always imagine I'm in the middle of nowhere and everyone else is far, far, away. Or, perhaps that's just what winter in the Midwest does to a girl!

Christine wrote: "Jeannette, Do you seriously think the Colts could win? I mean...errrr....yeah, sure they could. :)"

You are laughing, Christine, because you must not have watched the Saints play. Love him or hate him, Manning is a pro. The Vikings had 6 turnovers and the Saints still had to go into overtime to win.

We'll see in two weeks!! :)

I'm in the middle of Iowa and Christine is in Illinois (I looked in your profiles). We had rain on Saturday and blowing snow today. Will be back down below zero tonight! brrrrr

(so, am I close enough to be a neighbor? I do have a dog!)

message 318: by Paula (new)

Paula | 184 comments We're all in the midwest US in a large planet - I'd say we're neighbors!! Plus, having a dog means you're automatically cool, so I'll claim you as a neighbor anyway!

We had sideways snow today, which made the drive home a little interesting. Got warm enough to melt most all of the snow this weekend, so I wasn't ready for this cold blast. It's kinda nice that we only have about 2 months left, though!

message 319: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree -- two months to go, we hope. Since Iowa is mostly farmland, the blowing snow (30 mph winds) creates whiteout conditions. Luckily I'm "in town" and didn't have to go out anyway!

I grew up in Michigan, but I'd never seen horizontal snow until I moved to Iowa!

Where in Michigan? Just curious. I spent a few years (as a kid) in Battle Creek. I also went to graduate school at Michigan State. (If you are one of those U of M people then you go on my list for a second time...haha)

Paula, I'm in Geneva. That's right next to St. Charles.

message 325: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh Christine, a Spartan, too?!? I grew up (30 years worth) in and around Detroit. Yes, I went to Michigan, but didn't get my degree there. I miss the lakes! :(

I didn't get to see the Sunday night game, very true. My daughter had swim team practice. But the Colts simply can't win or I will have to bald the other side of my head.

How long have you lived in Italy? I really haven't seen as much of Europe as I would like to.

You are so funny! Got me chuckling all morning. :)

Those were fun days screaming our heads off at the games in Ann Arbor. My college buddy was a big fan -- I just enjoyed being at the stadium and cheering. Only time I ever got a sunburn in October was at Michigan stadium.

Paula | 184 comments Ok, so have been totally addicted to Meg Cabot's Princess books this week (am finishing up book 3 and just started them Sunday). I posted something under Chick Lit but didn't get any bites. I totally know I should be reading Tolstoy or Dickens or Byatt, but I just can't help myself - these are very addicting princess diaries!

message 343: by Paula (new)

Paula | 184 comments Oh no ... the language is contagious... I said "totally" twice in quasi-short post... back away from the princess diaries,...

Paula, did they make movies from these books? I have a picture of Julie Andrews in my head. How many are in the series?

message 345: by Paula (new)

Paula | 184 comments I think they made a movie out of the first three, because I just finished the third and feel like I've read everything connected to the movie. Julie Andrews plays the wicked grandmother and Anne Hathaway plays the princess.

I really need to watch the movie again now, then take a break before I get seriously behind in other reading. Then, back to more princess diaries :)

Indeed I am... in Rome. Living here in the big city is very stressful, but it is great to visit. So many beautiful things to see. I've been here for almost 24 years... egads! Time flies when you're having fun!!

Hey Lee! Brava... put your feet up and read a while!! You've earned it!!
