I used that giftcard to load up my Kindle a bit. Love that!
Thanks Lee!

Happy Birthday from me as well!!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments Happy birthday, Christine!

My grandfather said the 70th was the toughest, and my father the 60th.

Good morning to everyone. Jeannette, thanks for your sweet message on my blog. :)

My daughter was supposed to have some girls over tonight, but she is sick so suddenly our very busy Saturday is very quiet. What is everyone else up to?

Just me, Jeannette. We got off to a late start (plus some other complications), so we have just the one son, but he's a great kid so we're not complaining. :-)

And a grandpa at 40... wow!

I got married at 36 and I was 2 months shy of 38 when my daughter was born. When I compare raising my "only" to my sister's brood of 11, I always wonder how she can do it. We three just do everything together!

Oh no, not another "bug" at your house! I hope this passes quickly! How was your birthday otherwise?

Hubby and kid are practicing their Taekwondo moves while I am typing. What a couple of weirdos! lol No plans for this weekend...

Wow, your sister has 11 kids! That seems incredible this day and age. I can't imagine.

I cannot imagine 11 kids either. I know I would not be able to handle 11 children. How does she manage?

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments What am I up to? Celebrating new shoes, and waiting for the basketball to start (4:30, I think).

It's a cold this time, but she's the poster child for germy-yuck so we figured that we wouldn't share that with her girlfriends. My birthday was nice, thank you. Emma and I played Rummicube for a couple of hours last night and watched a movie. Oh yeah, and the Spartans won! (But you know that, Jeannette...hahaha!)

I love kids but having that many sure would be hard on your body. I think I'm a wreck after just one.

Always the practical one, Christine! :) Just imagine how many diapers that was (or maybe not...). And, when one of their kids gets the flu. We visited one Thanksgiving (a 7hr drive) and barely made it home. We all had a fever -- hubby took Monday off sick. You can't survive in a house like that against germs!

message 1121: by [deleted user] (new)

Do you think the Spartans will go all the way? I am not really following the games... I promise to be happy for you, if they do. I won't be during football season!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments I don't have a rooting interest playing today, so I shall strictly be watching in the hopes of a good game.

I haven't been able to watch the games because they never show them (they seem to cover whatever other game is on at that time). So...I dunno. It would be fun if they did make it because we have a few U of M neighbors. ;)

I looked it up, Christine: MSU plays Tenn. tomorrow at 2:20 EST. I would hope this game is televised, since they are so close to the finals now. Go Spartans! (*gollum*)

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments Elite 8 and upward, they only play one game at a time.

You are such a good sport! I don't know if I could ever say Go + Wolverines...I get like a sharp pain behind my eyeball even thinking about it. ;)

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments I know Clemson fans that are that way about the Gamecocks - and vice-versa! (Football is a schismatic religion down this way. LOL)

message 1128: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 27, 2010 06:46PM) (new)

To you both: that's why I added (*gollum*) after "Go Spartans". If you saw the Lord of the Rings movies, every time Gollum said something totally opposite to his nature he sort of hacked up a hairball while saying "gollum"! xp

To Susanna: I don't know if the Wolverines hate the Spartans as much as they hate the Buckeyes!! (I'm sure the feelings are mutual....)

message 1129: by [deleted user] (new)

Good morning group! I have my long list of things "to do" today, but I bet that I'll end up reading and watching basketball instead. You guys?

message 1130: by [deleted user] (new)

Just curious....has anyone read The Calligrapher's Daughter? Any opinions?

message 1131: by [deleted user] (new)

I think we might go to the movies to see "How to Train Your Dragon." But not in 3D. Most likely we will do some house cleaning.... :(

message 1132: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 28, 2010 06:28AM) (new)

Oh, my want to see that one. Let me know if you like it. I can't stand 3D...why does everyone love that?

message 1133: by [deleted user] (new)

3D makes me dizzy. I hope the trend dies off again.

message 1134: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeannette wrote: "3D makes me dizzy. I hope the trend dies off again."

Me too! I hate to tell you, but I saw a thing this weekend that said television is going that way as well (of course, I don't think you are a tv person so maybe you won't make the crabby face like I did).

message 1135: by [deleted user] (new)

I heard that same thing on the radio last week. I don't know if that will really sell or not. Seems like a big undertaking and most tv won't be produced in 3D anyway. (as far as I understood it)

message 1136: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) There are 3D television sets already for sale. You still need the 3D glasses apparently. I kind of like 3D, even though I've seen only maybe a few dozen movies (including in amusement parks) that way.

Manybooks Jeannette wrote: "I heard that same thing on the radio last week. I don't know if that will really sell or not. Seems like a big undertaking and most tv won't be produced in 3D anyway. (as far as I understood it)"

If 3D television is anything like those horrible 3D glasses we had years ago, I will definitely not be getting one; I get enough headaches already and those glasses always gave me migraines. On the other hand, I did enjoy the Imax part of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, but I don't think I could have handled the whole movie being like that.

message 1138: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) I love IMAX (both 3D and not 3D) for nature movies, but not so much for regular movies.

True, I've seen some wonderful IMAX nature movies, I saw one on volcanoes that was just awesome.

Hopefully it will just be an option for those obsessed with their tech stuff.

message 1141: by [deleted user] (new)

Hopefully the technique will be improved. I have a weird focusing problem with my eyes, so I don't do so well with 3D glasses. They are improved from years ago, but I still prefer my "regular" vision.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments Jeannette wrote: "3D makes me dizzy. I hope the trend dies off again."

Makes me dizzy, and I hate the glasses. I already wear glasses, so they are a real pain.

message 1144: by [deleted user] (new)

Morning Everyone! I got up before dawn today to take the kid to van pool for a school event. I've got a whole day ahead of me -- free! And, it is supposed to be in the sixties today. Yay! Have a great one!

message 1145: by [deleted user] (new)

Morning, Jeannette! You lucky girl! Have a fun day over there. I hope that if you are expecting the sixties that maybe we'll be getting something like that as well. I haven't checked yet.

I did see it! It was exciting, but maybe too much so...the ups and downs at the end made me crazy. So happy for the team though! I found my MSU flag last night so I can put it out there for the Final 4!

Did you go to the movies? How was it?
