Thank you, Joy! I printed it out, and I think that's exactly the type of frosting that would work.

My grandmother made a good lemon poundcake. She usually made a simple lemon glaze for the top.

Jeannette: yes, I got a lot of Hungarian practice, definitely! Mostly by hearing - I went to see five musical performances, Rebecca, Spring Awakening (three times) and My Fair Lady, and as I don't know any of them well in Hungarian, there was a lot of new listening to do. After one Spring Awakening show I also stayed to hear the discussion organised afterwards (with the assistant director and two of the actors) though I didn't have the guts to say anything. And when I met some Hungarian friends, I also talked with them partly in Hungarian.
And I bought a Hungarian-English idiom dictionary and a verb book. Mmm, I love dictionaries, idioms and verbs... *shivers happily in language-geeky love*
It sounds like you had a wonderful time Katri. How lovely to be able to travel and experience the musical performances in another language!
So quiet here! What's everyone doing? I'm doing eggs with the kids in the morning, and just relaxing tonight.
We just had a fun day outside at the park and hanging out. Sunday we are going to an Easter parade and an egg hunt. I also made some cupcakes! :-)
It was raining here, so I thought it was kind of quiet, too. We'll be doing yard work tomorrow, then dyeing eggs. On Sunday we have our Tofurky feast, with all the trimmings! :)

Enjoy, Kathy! I hope the weather stays nice for you!

Thanks, Jeannette. You are sweet to send me the good weather wishes. I'm afraid it might just rain tomorrow. Today was so beautiful. I had to laugh when I read you were having a Tofurky feast. It reminded me of the "Everybody Loves Raymond" episode where Raymond's mom makes a tofurky. Please tell us more about your upcoming feast. What are all the trimmings with tofurky?
The usual: mashed potatoes, my version of sweet potatoes baked with apple slices and a little maple syrup, probably that green bean casserole (cuz my husband loves it) and mushroom gravy that comes with the roast! It's a pretty typical dinner, except for the fake meat. :)
I've never had a Tofurky feast either Jeanette. Are they tasty? I've tried their sausages which are pretty good.

I only buy the roast and the gravy; I never cared for the other stuff in the feast. I "cook" the roast in the slow cooker, which keeps it moist. We all like it and my husband and I used to eat meat. Have you always been veg or vegan? I like their sausages, too.

I guess I use the fake meat as a substitute for so many comfort foods that I grew up eating. I don't eat meat anymore, but I miss some of it. So, the substitute foods fill the gap. I don't eat them everyday, but I'm glad what's on the market now is pretty tasty.

Life is good -- hanging my laundry outside again! :)
It's rainy here today, but I kinda' wanted it for my plants. My MSU flag is still out there, but fear not, I have it covered! I know Jeannette was worried for a second there...
What is everyone up to today? We are doing our egg decorating, baking, and trying to teach Dixie how to bark the Spartan's fight song. Go Green!!!!

Jeannette, I've only been vegan for about 5 months. Before that I was an omnivore. I don't miss meat but I've been curious about the Tofurkey. I miss cheese more than anything. Sometimes I just want a grilled cheese sandwich or pizza.

We are having a warm spell for a few days with summer temperatures. We're going swimming this afternoon and then the usual Saturday errands.

I love laundry fresh from the line! Alas, we don't have a yard or a line anymore but maybe one day we will again. Enjoy Jeannette!

Jeannette, Yes, I think it's wonderful so many plant based meats are available for those who like them.
Kathy, I love portobello mushroom burgers, and portobello mushrooms in about any dish.

Good job, Christine! When is the game, Spartan-girl? :)

Part of the appeal of Tofurky is the wheat gluten. It's makes it easy to slice, and doesn't get rubbery. If you want a turkey substitute, it works fine, and it's vegan. I eat it maybe 3 times a year.
It doesn't "taste" like turkey or chicken, but it tastes pretty good (imo).

I'm really looking forward to summer, when so much of what I eat is strictly veggie based -- lots of ratatouille, yum!

I still haven't found a vegan cheese that I like. The new Daiya one that's supposed to be excellent isn't available here yet that I've seen.

I like wheat gluten so I'd probably like it. It depends on what it's flavoured with though.

87 degrees! Wow, that's pretty hot.

Lee, they have a pretty good web site:
Turtle Island
I grew up eating hamburger in everything and a lot of hot dogs! So, I still have a fake meat "crutch," but I am trying to branch out. I really like simple recipes, too.

It was 87 officially, and 89! on our porch. It was almost unpleasant (except for the grilling out, to keep the kitchen cool).
On the up side, if it keeps up like this, our apricot may actually produce fruit this year, instead of being hit by a late frost (case the last 3 years).

In about an hour and a half! I tried to make a Spartan Easter egg, but it looks more like a hairball...not a pretty thing.

Why am I not surprised that it looks like a hairball???? XP
Hey now! It's hard to achieve the appropriate shade of victory green from regular egg colors. Sheesh!
I had to go out looking for white eggs. All the dumb eggs at the co-op are brown and you can't get any shade of green to work on them (or any color). What kind of green is victory green, btw? :)
Victory green is definitely not what you get when you mix blue and gold...hahaha!!!
hahahah! That's a good one! Enjoy your time in the sun, you (misguided) Spartan fan!
So much more fun to make green from your rival's colors, blue and gold, even if you end up with hairball! XP
But, the Wolverines are NOT in the final 4 and the Spartans are. Hope they go all the way!

Game over. Christine is making a grumpy face.
Thanks...I'm gonna' have to wait for football season now. More time to read, I guess.

Some of those were pretty funny. Too bad we didn't have these on April 1st! :)

Don't expect me to root for the Spartans during football season.....

LOL! Thanks, Katri.
Good Monday morning (ugh)! Nobody wants to get moving today in my house, including me. I have to pick something new to read today for the waiting room...the debate with myself is killing me.
Have a good start!

Good Morning everyone! I started the week off right by over-sleeping! :) The sun is shining and I'm hoping it stays that way.
