Questions About All Things In Death . . .
I've just finished rereading Conspiracy in Death. I noticed something in this read that had passed me by in previous reads. Eve was called to the first murder by dispatch but this murder took place in another precinct who had their own detectives to handle the murder investigation. The female officer, Bowers, was from that precinct as was the detective, Renshaw, who had the other murder case that Dallas took over when it was found he had botched the case.
So how does it work? How do the on-call rotation work in a city with multiple precincts and do all the precincts handle murders.

I believe when a second murder appears to be related to a case that is already processed the lead detective/lieutenant take over on all the cases that are connected. I'm not sure that is the case in all jurisdictions but most police departments like one main point of contact.
I think that when Waverley was talking to Eve before she took him down he said that there was a mix up in Dispatch, that Renshaw was supposed to be called, not Eve. So - he is saying that Renshaw who is from a different precinct to Eve would have been allocated that murder case, as he was with the LC, by dispatch and he reported and closed the earlier case saying that obviously a john had done her in. So it was identified as murder and the second murder could not have been anything else. This is the origin of my question
Which In Death book had Eve very sick and Summerset told her something like, Roarke never cared for anyone like you? I thought it was Holiday in Death but that has Eve getting tranq'd by Roarke and feeling better the next day.

I think that one because if I remember right she was supposed to have the makeup applied but was too sick to talk and she had to get some meds after the set up in the park.

He was briefly in Dark in Death, the most recent book.

I'm just finishing up this in audio and must've missed his appearance here. I'll have to check out the ebook.
There is a new book(Connections in Death: An Eve Dallas Novel: In Death, Book 48) on Audible available for preorder coming out in Feb 2019, but leverage in death is not available yet. Does anyone know what's going on?
That is strange, ShoSho. It certainly seems like Leverage would be available before Connections for preorder as an audio on Audible.. I remember Nora mentioned Leverage in a recent newsletter and the audio CD is listed on Goodreads.
We are listening to In Death series at work. I talk about the books so much that some of the women I work with wanted to listen too. What I notice listening to the books sequentially so close together is: Robb loves the word legions. In the first ten books there are legions of many things.
In every couple books Eve mentions or thinks that "Roarke looks tired something he seldom does."
I'm the jealous type. Eve is a better woman than I am. I often want to slap some woman in the face; it doesn't ruffle Eve's feathers at all. I guess that is why Roarke didn't ask me to marry him. LOL
Roarke isn't perfect but I love him anyway.
This is an interesting way to listen to a series.

What a cool experience and thing to share with co-workers, Sharon! And nice observations!

We end up listening 4 to 6 hours a day as long as we are all in the office.

I'm desperately trying to find the books where Amaryllis is introduced and the one in which she is murdered. Which ones are they again?

She first appeared in Origin in Death. Her last appearance is in Promises in Death.

When did Nadine first meet Jake Kincade, the "rock god" she is dating? In "Dark in Death," Nadine said they have been together a "few weeks" (late February 2061). But Dallas tells Roarke that Nadine & Jake met backstage when Madison Square Garden was bombed, which would have been in "Loyalty" February 2059. Different book or retcon? I don't remember any mention of Jake in any book before "Dark." Help!

It wasn’t the bombing of Madison Square Garden. It was the assault that took place there in Apprentice in Death. You’ll find him at the 66% mark in the book. I’ve also added his name to the character list for that book here in the discussion topic thread.

Hi. I joined because I am a huge fan of Nora/JD. I was recently rereading Concealed In Death. I thought she revealed Mavis' birth name in that book, but I can not find it anywhere. Can someone help me out? Its frustrating me to no end just because I forgot/ cant find it.Thanks!
Hi Lisa. I haven't looked back through Concealed to find that passage, but Nora/Robb herself says Mavis's real name is revealed in Concealed in Death. Here's a quote from one of her Fall Into The Story posts about names:
Nora: In Concealed In Death, I revealed Mavis’s birth name. It mattered–what really mattered was why she changed it, and how and why she picked the name she did. Who she became. That’s, for me, what a name can say about a character.
In this same post, NR talks about the character names including Roarke. Here's the article: http://fallintothestory.com/whats-in-...

I couldn’t find where her real name was revealed, only an explanation of how she got her new name.
Jonetta wrote: "I couldn’t find where her real name was revealed, only an explanation of how she got her new name."Same thing for me. I wondered if maybe its in the printed version and not electronic for some weird reason?

Same here - The explanation for how & why she chose her name is there, but I don't see any mention of her birth name. Maybe it was mentioned earlier, I don't know. Very curious about it now though! lol

Hello! I'm re-reading the books and I do not remember what book it is. But Roarke gets mad at Eve (I think she's hurt or something), she makes a joke about it I think and Roarke says something like, "Do not lower my worry," these are not the exact words. I can not find the book. Does anyone know? thanks :)
Which In Death series book does Ian McNabb get angry with Dallas for letting Delia Peabody act as bait?
I think I remember McNab having an outburst at Eve over sending Peabody undercover in Holiday In Death. Not sure if that's the one you're thinking of or not, Angela.
Not exactly a book question but more of a character question: I know Li Morris is described as bi-racial and from what I read he's more than likely of Asian descent, but I'm also trying to figure out if he's of African descent because of his tendency to wear braids.
I can't remember a description of Morris as bi-racial. Until Promises in Death I kept seeing him as Doc Robbins from CSI, and only in Promises did I actually internalized that he was Asian American. Sometimes I am way too focused on the dead bodies and not enough on the living characters, lol!
Lauren wrote: "I can't remember a description of Morris as bi-racial. Until Promises in Death I kept seeing him as Doc Robbins from CSI, and only in Promises did I actually internalized that he was Asian American..."Thing is I kinda viewed him as looking more like Tiger Woods.
I did pick up on the Asian thing and always pictured him more like B. D. Wong whonplayed Dr. Huang on Law and Order SVU.
I am currently in between re-reading In death books..right from the start. Just couldn't get enough of it!!!!I tried to check out other JD Robb/Nora Roberts titles and ended up buying High Noon (by NR). It also has a female cop and a rich guy as the main characters. And to be honest, I can't seem to finish it as I keep on re-reading In Death instead! (Sorry NR). Nothing beats Eve and Roarke.
Can anybody here relate with me?
Most of us can probably relate, Cecile! I've enjoyed all of NR's titles, but the In Death series books remain my favorite! :)

I'm with you. I can listen to the In Death series on a loop and never get tired of them. I don't re-read too many of the Nora Roberts books.. I like her trilogies and some that SB suggested.
I'm not sure if this was asked by someone else earlier on but I vaguely remember Dennis Mira finding out about Eve's past abuse. Anyone knows which book that was?
Does anyone remember the book where Eve makes a reservation to eat with Roarke and she tells him that "Roarke clears a table faster than Dallas?" I think one of her suspects had eaten there, and she was looking to the waitstaff to see if anyone had remembered him/her. If any of you remember, please let me know! I've been racking my brains for the past month and reread the whole series, but I can't find it. Thanks!!

Thank you, Seth for that quick reply. Rereading Brotherhood again now 😄 Another quick question... Anyone remembers which book it was that Eve gave Peabody the pink magic coat for Christmas?

Festive, I think.

Each book in the series represents about 4-6 weeks in elapsed time. That’s not necessarily true for the novellas.
