Thank you Sandra for redirecting me here - my question for the group: In Ritual In Death, Eve falls asleep in her office and is awakened by a "young, male" voice shouting, "Look! Flying cars. Look out the window! That is so cool!" Eve sees a "tall man, a lot of gold hair, slim brunette with startled green eyes, and a shaggy -haired boy" in a "swirl of luminous blue light" - she shrugs this off as a weird dream, but it's a scene from another story of a time-traveling trio that pops into Eve's world briefly. Anyone know what the connecting story is? It's been years since I read Ritual and whatever the other one was, but both were great and the intertwine was fun. Want to repeat the experience and afraid I'll miss out if it was in some mixed-author omnibus...

Well. Found my own answer, I'm a little slow today... Suite 606 omni, Wayward Wizard by Mary Kay McComas is my mystery book. Sadly, library doesn't have the e-book copy... I've become way too addicted to tablet reading.

Most of my first read of the series was in paperback as well - some hardback (when Sam's Club had new arrivals on their shelf, couldn't resist having them right then!) Do love a reader that lights my words in the dark, though!

I am one that has to buy the hard cover with each new book and then when I am ready for a re-read then I get the audio. of course I to am addicted to my kindle but with in death I have to buy the books lol

I don't think Eve tells Peabody all the details of her past including what happened with Eve's father until Visions in Death.

Even though I haven't gotten through the whole series, I decided to go back to the beginning of the series and re read along with the audio. I am having a fabulous time! Of course I don't do this with all the series I read but I really like the narrator for In Death and she adds so much to my enjoyment of the stories!

One of the things I have noticed is when I am really engrossed in a mystery, I have a tendency to speed up my reading and sometimes miss important details. I find when reading along with the audio I am forced to slow down a bit and I can pick up more in understanding!

No, they are going into their fourth year of marriage. They married in 2058. Echoes in Death opens in February 2061.

Wow how did I skip a year. I thought they said something about it almost being three years in Apprentice or maybe it was Brotherhood?? Did I not hear right or what am I missing?? Weird. I may have to go back and listen to those to see what I heard.

On Amazon someone pointed out that Santiago is sometimes called Sanchez in the series. I thought they were two different people and on Obsession character list has both names listed as two different people too but they said on kindle search only Santiago is listed. Now I have to pay more attention to it on a re-read. Did anyone else catch this or is it two people which is what I thought.

I think they are two different people. In one book they are both on an op but I can't remember which one at the moment.

Before the old J. D. Robb website went through the recent makeover, Nora had this character noted as a continuity error. He first showed up in New York to Dallas and appeared sporadically until Calculated in Death when Santiago shows up inexplicably. Sanchez hasn't been mentioned since (I think).

Correction: Sanchez shows up again in Obsession in Death.

I remember the first time really remembering Santiago in Treachery since Roarke won money off him by betting Eve would bait Renee into a fight. So that is how I always remember Santiago but I thought I used to hear about a Sanchez too.

Thank you Jonetta for that lay out because I did think they were two different people like there are two Carmichaels in her unit too. And the newest person now is Shelby but don't remember her. Shelby wasn't the one in Calculated right?? That was someone else but I thought the officer in this one would be the new addition.

Shelby is the newest one. She first shows up as a beat patrol officer in Brotherhood in Death.

I can't remember which book that Eve has a flashback featuring her mother for the first time. for the first dozen books in the series she has no memory of her mom at all... but sometime before Divided In Death she knows about her, that she was a junkie, etc. Can anyone tell me what book I'm looking for? She has a nightmare flashback of her mother in Loyalty in Death also. Our buddy read group covered it last fall and a few of us mentioned that we hadn't remember the first mention of Stella came that soon through Eve's dreams.

Memory in Death is about her reliving her foster care life, and seeing one of her foster care mothers after some 20 or so years.

Divided in Death is one of my favorite IN DEATH books. Though, Eve grows with each book. It was the one I saw the biggest change in her growth.

In my notes Eve mentions the only thing she remembers about her mother is a whisper in her ear that makes her jitter. That is when she is thinking about Dallas and the police and social workers questioning her in the hospital. That was in Conspiracy In Death.

In Witness in Death Eve and Roarke have a conversation about mothers. That story was all about different mothers.

Then in Imitation in Death Eve has the dream about the wig and using her mother's makeup. When her parents came home and found her that is when she realized that her mother never wanted her. She didn't share the nightmare with Roarke because he is still dealing with finding out that his mother was murdered.

I started taking notes the first time I joined the buddy read. I have a lot of notes on Eve's parents and her observations about other mothers like Mira, Peabody's parents, etc. Most of them are insights shared by you and the other readers.

I believe it is Betrayal. I think Sommerset was hurt though not the guy selling grapes.

I thing it The in death when the actress solid all her things and her son was planning to steel them. A know killer who use a Silver garrotte to kill his victims, was hider to keep Roarke and Eve mind on the kill of people close to him.
