Swapping yet another book. I got 30 pages in and just couldn't go any further. Maybe I'll try again later.

I'm getting nervous now. I got Beyond the Pale when the UK arm of Borders was closing down.Jo, you are the second or third to say its not so good.
Yeah I dunno what it was about the book. I just couldn't go any further. But it could be due to the fact that I had just finished the monere series and I compared every book I read after it to that. I was suffering from monere withdrawals LOLHere's hoping that you like it. But personally definitely not for me. :)
I'll let you know what I think when I get round to reading it :)

Barbara, did you like Lady and the Vamp. I have this book and was wondering if it was any good.
Carolyn, I liked it. It was a light read, but good. It goes with Michelle Rowen Immortality Bites series.

I had to pipe up with my two cents...I purchased book one and two when two was still new and I read them both and have put them on my hate list. They were just really awful. Vampires as bats, and the lead vamp hates being a vamp. That's usually a dealbreaker for me. This series is the one that comes to mind first when I'm asked about my least favorite books. I rarely complain about bad books but I've warned many a reader away from them. Just my opinion though. She wouldn't still be writing them if they weren't selling.

Not to beat a dead horse but the first one is also on my abandoned shelf. I didn't get very far though because I thought the writing was atrocious and cliched.

Oh, well. I did enjoy it--except for the unrealistic descriptions of DC traffic. I mean, come ON--Carrie Vaughn just didn't get enough sitting and waiting time into her descriptions. (DC is consistantly in the top 5 of worst cities to drive in for traffic. Usually only beat out by NYC and LA.) And, while I've driven in LA, but not NYC, I have to agree, that it at least is slightly worse.
lol, Oz used to live in Columbus, OH, and she would drive across town for book club and other fun stuff (a whopping 20 minute trip--IN rush-hour) and everyone there thought she was insane for doing it. They didn't understand that 20 minutes MIGHT get her the 2 miles up the road from our house to the Mall during rushhour here. :o) And that people think nothing of driving 90 to 100 miles (one way) for something fun to do. Just a different mentality, I guess.

Changed my Alien/Space book. My lib could not borrow the book, so I bought Born of Night for like a dollar.
