Actually, I'm not kidding :-) I'm seriously gonna do it. I started a misc/off topic discussion thread on tattoos if you're interested. Here's a link to that thread:

I have already gotten tattoos using the phrase "By The Light of the Moon" and I used the branch/lantern from the One Door Away From Heaven cover.

There has been an on going goodreads poll to choose your favorite author. I just discovered the poll today thanks to the other Dustin who is not crazy, and was saddened that Dean Koontz was not on the very long list to choose from so I added Dean Koontz. If Dean Koontz is your favorite author click below and scroll down to pick Dean Koontz. Please do not write in Dean Koontz as he is already in the list and we want to get him lots of votes:

I see that Knootz is up to 23 votes now which is much better but still 69 votes away from the leader: J. K Rowling.

Koontzlanders Unite! :-) I think we've really made an impact on the poll - Thanks Koontzlanders! J.K. Rowling and other authors like Stephen King actually have duplicate options so combined Rowling actually has even more than it appears, but we've done really well.
Dean Koontz is currently tied with Neil Gaiman at 24 votes. Y'all have helped Koontz surpass George Orwell (20 votes) and Kurt Vonnegut (18 votes). Dean is quickly gaining speed in this race and is trailing world-renowned authors such as Agatha Christie (30 votes), Tolkien (26 votes) and John Steinbeck (25 votes).
Thanks again to everyone who voted.

Then I went back to his books in the '80s and read Lightning. Nuff said.

:-) Welcome to Koontzland Tracy!!!
Good luck collecting your Dean Koontz books. The newer ones should be easy but those early sci-fi ones are hard to come by.
We're reading Cold Fire in November and The Funhouse in December. Please join us in our group discussions if you're interested.

Welcome to Koontzland Sheena. You don't have to love Odd Thomas to love Dean Koontz :-) We are reading The Funhouse as our December Group Read and we are about to choose our January Group Read. We'd love to see you in any of the discussion threads whenever you're feeling Koontzish.

Longtime Koontz fan here. I found "Lightning" on the top of a school locker back in either 8th or 9th grade (can't remember) and I "borrowed" it. So that was either 1989 or 1990. He's been my favorite ever since.
Lightning and Of Mice and Men showed me Faulkner and Rand had it all wrong, that reading could be enjoyable. Haha.
In the past year or so I've been collecting all Dean's old work from the 60s and 70s. I'm getting close to collecting all of it, though I doubt I'll ever find everything, especially stories like "Glunk" and "Whoop, The Dead Gerkle," "The Face in His Belly," "Pinkie," "The Terrible Weapon," etc. Total bummer. =(
Anyway, I'm a writer and a publisher as well. Glad to have found this group. =)

Hi my name, Dale and I'm a Koontz fan. my collection is nearly dominated by Dean Koontz books. Still working my way through my collection though.
My first Koontz novel was

Koontz seems to have something that others authors don't. Good or bad I get sucked in when reading his books. While it's true I do the same while reading other authors such as King but none seem to grab me by the throat and jerk me into the story like Koontz.
I just wish Koontz had more success when it comes to adapting his novels to movies. Stephen King is better to me in this aspect.
Anyways, I'm rambling now thanks for letting me join this group.

You're welcome. I'm not sure where they are on the film as far as a release date. I know they were shooting the film in California over the Summer & it's still listed as a 2012 release. There were rumors about a Spring release close to the new ODD APOCALYPSE (book 5) release but I haven't seen any trailers yet.
