message 4: by Arthur (new)

Arthur (astra) Finally, finally I finished to read Sci-Fi book.
Back to Fantasy.

Most likely I will start C.S. Friedman's Coldfire Trilogy, Book 1 - Black Sun Rising

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) I am currently two books in for my ho0liday Harry Potter marathon. After that - well, a coworker got 'Warbreaker' for me from her library, so I'll have to read that at some point. I also still have my birthday present of 'On Stranger Tides', and was thinking of trying to reread 'Way of Shadows' and possibly 'Nine Princes in Amber' for discussion. Considering I don't actually read that fast, though, I'm not sure which I'll be able to get to.

message 6: by Rita (new)

Rita Webb (ritawebb) I am currently reading Into the Wild with my oldest daughter. She's 7 and has already read the book 3 times without me, just in the last month or so.

I am also waiting for The Lady and the Unicorn to come in from the library. In the meantime, I am reading Princess Ben Being a Wholly Truthful Account of her Various Discoveries and Misadventures, Recounted to the Best of her Recollection, in Four Parts, which I am really bored with and yet reading anyway.

message 7: by Amelia (new)

Amelia (narknon) I'm reading The Legent of Nightfall by Mickey Zucker Reichert.
I have a whole stack of books to read, what I read next will really depend on my mood.

message 10: by Laurel (new)

Laurel December is one of my favorite reading months - I have two weeks off at Christmas time to just hunker down and enjoy as many books as I can get my hands on! My wishlist for this month includes:

The Hallowed Hunt (Chalion, #3) by Lois McMaster Bujold
[image error]
Stone of Farewell (Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, #2) by Tad Williams
[image error]
Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon

Happy Holidays!

message 11: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Finished Nyphron Rising a couple days ago. Series is still going strong. Where's book 4? ;)

Now I'm on The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. Want to read before seeing the movie. It's pretty heart wrenching so far.

I'm also still reading The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks.

I don't get it. The Flame in the Bowl Unbinding the Stone and A Warrior Made don't seem to be on your list. How did that happen?

message 20: by ~Sara~ (new)

~Sara~ I'm almost finished Warbreaker, then I'll read The Way of Shadows.
After that I'm reading Nine Princes in Amber and The Algebraist for my science fiction book club.
I would like to read the Riyria Revelations, since there are so many good reviews, but I'm finding it difficult to get in Ontario without paying more for shipping then for the books.
I'm also hoping to get The Absolute Sandman, Vol. 4 for Christmas so I can finish that series this month.
If I get through all of these, I'll start the Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony.

I still can't figure out what to read next...

message 26: by Jon (new)

Jon (jonmoss) | 529 comments I gave up on Blindsight and turned it back into the library yesterday.

Since I have a business trip with a short one hour flight (each way) today, I'm taking a couple of "small" paperbacks with me:

A Sorcerer's Treason (Isavalta, Book 1) by Sarah Zettel and The Last Colony by John Scalzi

If neither of those appeal to me on the flight, I also have The Silmarillion as an audio book on my BlackBerry.

message 34: by Barbm1020 (new)

Barbm1020 I'm about 130 pages into The Pillars of Creation, by Terry Goodkind. Sword & Sorcery, lots of ugly murders, mysteries upon mysteries. Not a fast read but I'm staying with it so far.

I loved Equal Rites! Granny is so cool!

message 36: by Mir (new)

Mir Just got the newest in Derek Landy's Skulduggery Pleasant series, The Faceless Ones.

message 37: by Margot (new)

Margot (freezebaby) Elena wrote: "I am reading Wit'ch Fire and really, really liking it."

You'll have to tell us if it's worth reading, once you're done. Amazon critic review was pretty harsh, but I've always wanted to read at least one of Clemens' fantasy novels because I've seen him speak so many times, though as James Rollins regarding his thrillers. (I'm not at all a thriller fan.)

Good you got as far as Pillars of Creation. Many didn't make it...

message 39: by Josh (new)

Josh | 53 comments Barbm1020 wrote: "I loved Equal Rites! Granny is so cool!"

She was definitely the best part of the book, and I think Mr. Pratchett's favorite part of it as well. I looked into the character of Esk and I guess he never brings her back again, whereas Granny is a recurring character. Overall, the book was a little disjointed, but anything from Pratchett is funny and addicting.

Jess (thereadingpublic) The Knight and a whole bunch of other things I found at the library. The Knight has been all right so far. A bit confusing for me, but it's an interesting world the author created.
