What are you reading in December 2009?
I just read 4 fantasies in a row, so now I am readingTyphoon by Charles Cumming a spy novel
I have given up predicting my other reads. I have several books out of the library
I may try to start a Gathering Storm
Finally, finally I finished to read Sci-Fi book.Back to Fantasy.
Most likely I will start C.S. Friedman's Coldfire Trilogy, Book 1 - Black Sun Rising
I am currently two books in for my ho0liday Harry Potter marathon. After that - well, a coworker got 'Warbreaker' for me from her library, so I'll have to read that at some point. I also still have my birthday present of 'On Stranger Tides', and was thinking of trying to reread 'Way of Shadows' and possibly 'Nine Princes in Amber' for discussion. Considering I don't actually read that fast, though, I'm not sure which I'll be able to get to.
I am currently reading Into the Wild with my oldest daughter. She's 7 and has already read the book 3 times without me, just in the last month or so.I am also waiting for The Lady and the Unicorn to come in from the library. In the meantime, I am reading Princess Ben Being a Wholly Truthful Account of her Various Discoveries and Misadventures, Recounted to the Best of her Recollection, in Four Parts, which I am really bored with and yet reading anyway.
I'm reading The Legent of Nightfall by Mickey Zucker Reichert.I have a whole stack of books to read, what I read next will really depend on my mood.

Another good one. Hope you like it.
December is one of my favorite reading months - I have two weeks off at Christmas time to just hunker down and enjoy as many books as I can get my hands on! My wishlist for this month includes:

Happy Holidays!
Finished Nyphron Rising a couple days ago. Series is still going strong. Where's book 4? ;)Now I'm on The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. Want to read before seeing the movie. It's pretty heart wrenching so far.
I'm also still reading The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks.
Laurel wrote: "December is one of my favorite reading months - I have two weeks off at Christmas time to just hunker down and enjoy as many books as I can get my hands on!"I don't get it. The Flame in the Bowl Unbinding the Stone and A Warrior Made don't seem to be on your list. How did that happen?
Elise wrote: "Now I'm on The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. Want to read before seeing the..."I would also recommend Remote Control.
Pack the bags... I haven't had a guilt trip like that since I last talked to my mom! I'll have to remedy the situation.
I just finished Assassin's Quest by Robin Hobb. Now I'm reading the Geodyssey Series by Piers Anthony. I've started book one Isle of Woman. Hopefully I'll finish it and book two Shame of Man. Then I'm looking to get the first book of the Liveship Traders Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb. I think that will keep me quite busy!
I finished Under the Dome by Stephen King this weekend. Now I'm getting into Midnight Tides by Steven Erikson. After that, I'll need to get caught up on group reads.
I just finished Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris (disappointing), and am just starting An Unexpected Apprentice by Jody Lynn Nye, which I picked up randomly at the bookstore a couple months ago. My book count, so far, for 2009 is 35. Maybe, maybe, maybe(!) I can manage five more books before the end of the year.
finished Captain's Fury in Jim Butcher Alera series last week. loving the series , while i'm waiting for the next 2 to arive in the post i started Grave Peril and The Dragonbone Chair
A Game of Thrones - George R.R. MartinThe Gathering Storm - Robert Jordan / Brandon Sanderson
Under The Dome - Stephen King
Love in the Time of Cholera - Gabriel Garcia Marquez
I've gotta start "A Song of Ice and Fire" and get up to date on WoT
I'm almost finished Warbreaker, then I'll read The Way of Shadows. After that I'm reading Nine Princes in Amber and The Algebraist for my science fiction book club.
I would like to read the Riyria Revelations, since there are so many good reviews, but I'm finding it difficult to get in Ontario without paying more for shipping then for the books.
I'm also hoping to get The Absolute Sandman, Vol. 4 for Christmas so I can finish that series this month.
If I get through all of these, I'll start the Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony.
I just finished "The Lies of Locke Lamora" by Scott Lynch. Excellent book, earned a very rare A from me. I am starting his second book "Red Seas under Red Skies" and it seems to be holding up.I definately recommend both.
I just finished Acacia The War with the Mein and I'm moving forward with The Other LandsBut I also just got:
Dreamsongs Short Works Volume I
Landon wrote: "But I also just got:Dreamsongs Short Works Volume I"
Awesome! I loved that book....I still need to read the second one.
I started Child of the Prophecy by Juliet Marillier a few days back. I still can't figure out what to read next...
I gave up on Blindsight and turned it back into the library yesterday. Since I have a business trip with a short one hour flight (each way) today, I'm taking a couple of "small" paperbacks with me:
and
If neither of those appeal to me on the flight, I also have The Silmarillion as an audio book on my BlackBerry.
I'm on a Mercedes Lackey run right now. I'm currently reading Winds of Fate and am planning on finishing the trilogy. Then I am on to the next trilogy by Lackey.
Just finished Tepper's True Game and started reading Rusalka by C.J. Cherryh. Haven't read much by Cherryh - just The Dreaming Tree.
I'm reading Geraldine McCaughrean's One thousand and one arabian nights right now. Already half way through it.After I'm done with it, I'll probably read some local horror/ fantasy book. Or just my favorite Sherlock Holmes.
Just finished 3 Days to Dead by Kelly Meding, thoroughly enjoyed it. Starting on The Codex books for now plus a plethora of e-books. We shall have to see what Santa brings
Read Equal Rites, from Terry Pratchett. Just finished The Way of Shadows (started it before I even realized it was this month's book), and now I'm rereading A Shadow in Summer by Daniel Abraham so I can finally read the sequels.
I'm about 130 pages into The Pillars of Creation, by Terry Goodkind. Sword & Sorcery, lots of ugly murders, mysteries upon mysteries. Not a fast read but I'm staying with it so far.

Elena wrote: "I am reading Wit'ch Fire and really, really liking it."You'll have to tell us if it's worth reading, once you're done. Amazon critic review was pretty harsh, but I've always wanted to read at least one of Clemens' fantasy novels because I've seen him speak so many times, though as James Rollins regarding his thrillers. (I'm not at all a thriller fan.)

Barbm1020 wrote: "I loved Equal Rites! Granny is so cool!" She was definitely the best part of the book, and I think Mr. Pratchett's favorite part of it as well. I looked into the character of Esk and I guess he never brings her back again, whereas Granny is a recurring character. Overall, the book was a little disjointed, but anything from Pratchett is funny and addicting.
I am reading Furies of Calderon by Jim Butcher. (The Codex Alera series)After I finished Terry Goodkind's book couple days ago :)
I'm reading Cluck Murder Most Fowl and Warbreaker. I really enjoyed Sanderson's Mistborn series and looking forward to his visiting in January.
Finished The Innocent Mage last week. Absolutely loved it, and am awaiting the sequel in the post. Currently working on Brokedown Palace, as well as Pure Blood. Awaiting several other books in the post; we'll see which ones arrive when to determine the next book. Will probably also order The Way of Shadows before the end of the month. It looks good :)
Elise wrote: "Finished Nyphron Rising a couple days ago. Series is still going strong. Where's book 4? ;)Hey Elise...so glad you liked the book and Emerald Storm is done and to the editors -- on schedule for an April release ;-) BTW thanks for the great reviews.
Susan
The Knight and a whole bunch of other things I found at the library. The Knight has been all right so far. A bit confusing for me, but it's an interesting world the author created.
I've note read Storm Front - but always hear good things about that series - I definitely will be looking into it - on the Xmas LIst!!
In the fictive realm, I managed to read:The Unscratchables, Cornelius Kane
House of Suns, Alastair Reynolds
Transition, Iain Banks
Before the month's out, I should finish Whit, also by Banks, and (probably) S.M. Peters' Ghost Ocean.
Cameron wrote: "Finished Storm Front, and on to Boneshaker. Anybody read this one yet? "Always love a Butcher - have you tried the debut Harry Connolly - very much like the Butcher books...Boneshaker is on my TBR list also will be interested in your thoughts.
