Katherine (katkattrinn) | 629 comments I finished my 4th book.!! This one was picked by Holli A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1) by Sarah J. Maas ★★★★★. I loved the story, a lot. It was like Beauty and the Beast, but it's wasn't beast, but a fairy. :DDD

Elke (ejurca) | 1810 comments Finished my 3rd book recommended by Dee Some Like It Hot-liked it better than the first one but not sure if the third one will be on my immediate TBR list.

You should definitely read the third one. I haven't read the first book in the series, but I read the second and the third. I found Some Like It Hot really annoying and I didn't like the characters at all. But Hot Under Pressure was a great surprise. The beginning was rather slow but the characters were less irritating and their story was much more engaging. Actually, it was quite a nice book, probably the best one in this series. Give it a try.

Oh ok! Yes I definitely will give it a try but I have other books to get to first! ;) I agree with you though about Some Like it Hot, characters were a little annoying....just be glad you did not read the first one. They really annoyed me! Lol!!

After reading this two, I decided there is no point in reading the first one if it is similar to the second. Lol!

Nadine Bookaholic (nadinesobsessedwithbooks) | 1138 comments I just finished my 3rd book

Larissa - Captured By You by Amber Hart finished 6/9 ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was a great book, it picked up where Until You Find Me left off, I am so glad I was able to read them back to back they pulled me in and I felt as if I was in the African Jungle with them.

Captured By You (Untamed, #2) by Amber Hart

I would agree - give it a go. The best of the series.

Katherine (katkattrinn) | 629 comments I finished my 5th book.
The Heir (The Selection, #4) by Kiera Cass this book was picked by Kim. What I gonna say about the book is that I liked it. I loved all the character, the plot was interesting. I like Kile and Erik.
But the only person I didn't liked is the PRINCESS. What kind of person, who sees how much her brother loves a girl, but still tells him to find someone else.

message 260: by Mai (last edited Jun 10, 2015 11:20AM) (new)

Mai | 362 comments I finished:

Blameless - picked by Elke - 4 stars
I really enjoyed this one - even more than the previous part in the series. Gail Carriger's writing is hilarious and really unique.

Just Like Heaven - recommended by Shelby - 4 stars
I know, everyone loves the Bridgertons, but I'm starting to love the Smythe-Smith family even more. H/h were utterly adorable.

Duke of Midnight - picked by JanePS - 4 stars
One of my favorites in the Maiden Lane Series so far. I was a little tired of the Ghost of St. Giles stories, but this one was way better than the last one and now I'm looking forward to read the next part, Darling Beast

Thank you for your great picks!

message 261: by Dee (last edited Jun 10, 2015 12:42PM) (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments finished my 4th book - Luck Be Delanie - recommended by Unusual Child(Beppy) - my biggest issue with this was that it was too short and I didn't feel like I really got to know any of the characters/invested in the storyline - which is fustrating because I thought it really did have potential - 2.5 stars

I have 2 more in progress - Behind Closed Doors and Crux

message 262: by Dre (last edited Jun 10, 2015 02:54PM) (new)

Dre (drez80) | 18 comments I finished books 5, 6, and 7:

How to Howl at the Moon - picked by Leslie. I gave this one 4 stars. Eli Easton's books are always cute and enjoyable. They're like comfort food to me. I hope this becomes a series because I loved all of the characters, esp. the meddling mother.

Everything I Want - picked by Elke (I totally went in a different direction than I originally planned with Elke's picks). I didn't rate this one because I clearly liked it enough to read the second book, and I'm anxiously awaiting the third and final book, but this one had a lot of grammatical issues. The author switched from past to present back to past tense within a few sentences, and some of the phrasing was just weird, but the chemistry between the MCs was off-the-charts HOT. The second book was better, so it must have had some editing done although still not great, but it ended on a cliffy, so I'm hoping I remember to check Amazon for the final book next month.

Rent Me - picked by KathyD. I gave this one 2 stars. I so wanted to love this one, and it had potential, but Brennen just couldn't get his crap together. I kept waiting for him to get a backbone and stand up to Dmitri and Mischa, but he didn't, and his and Dmitri's back-and-forth, immature fighting really bothered me. I would have rated this much higher had Brennen stuck to his guns on ditching Dmitri even once during this book.

message 268: by Breann (new)

Breann | 398 comments I've finished 5 of my group 1 picks:

Horizontal Analysis ★★★ Thanks, Amy! It was a nice contemp, the only thing that bothered me was the ex. He was very over the top villain like. Kinda cheesy.
Blood Ties ★★★ Thanks, Gle! A good start to this PNR series.
The Girl in the Clockwork Collar ★★★ Thanks, Joyce! I really enjoy the worldbuilding and characters. I'm hoping for more romance in future books.
Fever Pitch ★★★★ Thanks, Stacie! OMG. I just adore this series and it's perfectly narrated. I can't wait for book 3!
The First Hello ★★★★ Thanks, Zara! Very touching and romantic story. I've never read a reincarnation type romance, so it was something new and I enjoyed it very much.

message 269: by Holli (new)

Holli | 182 comments Finished my second book. Night Embrace by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Picked by Macwolf01 (Elise). Thanks for picking this one. I've read it before and really wanted to re-read it. This one introduced one of my favorite characters from this series, Zarek. I love his character, despite his being kind of a jerk. He's just fun. Yes, I'm weird; I know. :) 4 stars.

message 273: by Holli (new)

Holli | 182 comments Third book for Group 3. Into the Mist by Maya Banks, picked by Larissa. Thanks for the pick! This was a re-read and also a good one. I crashed into a logic wall with this book (or a lack of logic wall, anyway) more than once, but still gave the book 4 stars.

Kim - Whiskey Tango Foxtrot by Heather Long finished 6/16 ★ ★ ★ This was a good read I expected it to be more steamy based on the previous books in this series but other than that it was a good solid story.

The One That Got Away picked by Katie, 3 stars.
A nice light story, unfortunately not plausible and inconsistent.

The Nothingness of Ben picked by Nadine (and Preethi), 4 stars
Wonderful book, even though I wanted to hit Ben at some point! ;-)

Plan B picked by KellyJo, 4 stars
The MC Danny, a flamboyant drama queen, was a totally different character to what I'm used to read and I loved him!

Great picks, thanks to you all! :-)

Becca - Stars & Stripes (Cut & Run, #6) by Abigail Roux . Loved it all over again. Thanks for picking it!
Shelby - Butterfly Hunter (Butterfly Hunter #1) by Julie Bozza - set in my neck of the woods and a pretty good story. Thanks!
Penney - Rack & Ruin (THIRDS, #3) by Charlie Cochet . Another great installment in this series ~so funny :) Looking forward to book 4!
Grace - In From the Cold The I Spy Stories (I Spy, collected) by Josh Lanyon . Didn't like the MCs much but enjoyed the storyline. Loved the narrator! Great voice ;)
Dee - Dog on It (A Chet and Bernie Mystery #1) by Spencer Quinn . Loved the dog and his observations etc. Spot on and fun :)
Karla - Julian's Jeopardy (Dawn Endeavor, #3) by Marie Harte . So pleased to have finally read this. Unfortunately I don't enjoy this series as much as the Circe's Recruits :( But thanks for the push!
Dana - The Good Fight (The Good Fight, #1) by Andrew Grey . This was pretty good - it's a bit heavy on the set-up, and some stuff doesn't quite make sense, but I still enjoyed it :)

☘KathyD☘ | 4837 comments Meet & Greet Round 10 — Group 2
June 1 – July 31, 2015
Completed 9/16!

Elke (Mountain Kat, Ezi)
The Dark Highlander — ★★★★★ 6/8
Oh those darn MacKeltars! I really love reading the books in this series...I feel like I'm getting a slice of history with a fun love story entwined. Also, it was fun to see how the story meshed with the previous book....the story was fairly seamless and I appreciated it!

Becca (Mai)
Backstage Pass — ★★★★ 6/13
This was a hot book! I loved getting to know the members of Sinners. The relationship between Brian and Myrna seemed a bit stilted...I liked the dynamics of the group and look forward to what the Sinners are up to next!

Mai
Changing the Game — ★★★★★ 6/14 (Elke)
This book was hot from the very start to the very end! I thought the story had a great balance of angst and growing between the characters. Elisabeth was kind of a jerk in the previous book...and very one dimensional...this book gave her a chance to redeem herself and show a much more well-rounded character. Gavin's character had a chance to shine away from the spotlight of his big brother, Mick. Though I must say...he's kind of a dumb ass...I can't believe it took him so long to put everything together! So far I'm really liking this series. It's a great mix with romance and sports...looking really forward to Jenna's story!

Debbie
Earning the Cut — ★★★★ 6/7
This was a good opening act. I look forward to seeing where the story goes.

Penney (LaurLa)
The Prince — ★★★★★ 6/12
W-O-W! For the most part, this book was a mindf**k...I loved getting an in depth look into Soren's and Kingsleys relationship. Getting to know each man better both in their past and present was a treat! I'm still not really clear on why Soren needs to break his partners, but in the end, it doesn't really matter. I loved having Wesley back! I missed him in The Angel...he is such an awesome character...and in many ways acts more the 34-year-old man while Nora seems more the 20-year-old girl. I do have to say, I've read these past three books over an extended period of time, but with the ending Ms. Reisz gave this book, I will NOT be putting The Mistress off for long!

Unusual Child (beppy) (~Leslie~)
Hero — ★★★★ 6/5
This book surprised me...from the blurb, I expected to see more of Alexa's life with her duplicitous father. That's not to say I didn't enjoy how the story was laid out and progressed. Alexa's character is strong and compassionate; she stood her ground well against Caine who did everything in his power to be a Grade A D*ck! Surprisingly, I did like Caine...his struggles and triumphs seemed so hard fought, it was difficult not the feel his anger, rage, and white-hot lust. My only real issue with this book is that it seemed to drag in some parts...just enough areas that it detracted a bit from the book for me...but Samantha Young continues to be a favorite author I'm getting to know!

Shelby (JanePS)
Dangerous Games — ★★★★ 6/16
This book started at a dead run and didn't stop until the very end! I really liked getting to know Clint and Morganna. I had a hint at Morganna's personality in Reno's Chance...but it was so much fun seeing her firecracker personality light up the pages of this book! Clint, for the most part, was too much the "Iceman" for me. He obviously cares for Morganna, but spends way too much time trying to be the overprotective big brother....didn't he learn anything from Reno? There was some story crossover from Leigh's Elite Ops series, but nothing that deters from this story/series.

Rock Chick Redemption — ★★★★★ 6/4
OMG...This book was hysterical! I swear I almost peed my pants I was laughing so hard a few times...people trudging through gridlock probably thought I was nuts as I was laughing! I didn't have much interest either way in Hank, but he squirmed his way into my heart! Roxie is a great addition to the Rock Chicks...and I loved that we got to know Tex better...he's a nut job, but I love him...he has such a great heart! Just can't say it enough...I loved this book!

~Leslie~
Obsession — ★★★ 6/13
I really wanted to love this book...I've had it on my to-read list for a long time...the general story worked really well for me...the execution didn't work for me. I felt like the story was missing huge chunks of connective text. I had a hard time connecting to Gabriel and Noelle...they were interesting characters, but because I felt there was so much missing, I couldn't really "get" them. The last few chapters were wonderful and very powerful! I will probably go on to read the next book in the series, but I'm not gun-ho just yet.

The Dark Highlander (Highlander, #5) by Karen Marie Moning Backstage Pass (Sinners on Tour, #1) by Olivia Cunning Changing the Game (Play by Play, #2) by Jaci Burton Earning the Cut (Riding the Line, #1) by Jayna Vixen The Prince (The Original Sinners, #3) by Tiffany Reisz Hero by Samantha Young Dangerous Games (Tempting SEALs, #2) by Lora Leigh Rock Chick Redemption (Rock Chick, #3) by Kristen Ashley Obsession (Darkness Falls, #1) by Ivory Quinn

Stacie - really no worries at all - I just chose to skip book 2 and read the next one since I thought Shane was an ass from the moment we met him in book #1. I really don't understand why the author made his book #2 since there was really no time for him to grow as a person. This is the first series I've read by this author and I just kinda like them - they aren't all that great - could just be me as I know a lot of people love them.
