message 216: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments Finished my first book - Forbidden - recommended by Dre and MountainKat - for a short book well developed story no real gaps and want to read more by the author in the future - 3.5stars

message 217: by fleurette (new)

fleurette | 287 comments I have also finished my first book The Best Man by Kristan Higgins recommended by ilovebakedgoods (Teresa). I generally enjoyed it and gave it 3 stars. Here is my full review.

message 218: by Mai (last edited Jun 04, 2015 12:50AM) (new)

Mai | 362 comments I have finished my first two books.

Mine Till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas was recommended by MountainKat, Ezinwanyi and Elke. I liked it; I gave it 3 and a half stars. I'm quite curious about the rest of the series and the characters that got introduced.

Bitter Spirits by Jenn Bennett was recommend by Debbie and I gave it 5 stars - I loved the 1920s setting and can't wait to read the rest of the series. I'm a fan of Jenn Bennett's writing anyway, so far all her books made it to my favorites shelf :)

message 219: by Katherine (last edited Jun 04, 2015 11:24AM) (new)

Katherine (katkattrinn) | 629 comments I finished my first book. This one was picked by Preethi. ★★★★★
Bone Crossed (Mercy Thompson, #4) by Patricia Briggs
I loved this book, as always.

message 220: by Dre (new)

Dre (drez80) | 18 comments I've technically finished my first three books:

The Understatement of the Year - picked by MountainKat. I gave it 3 stars. The ending made me a little mad, and the beginning kind of dragged while the MC's were ignoring each other, but I still enjoyed it, and I plan to read the first 2 books in the series as well.

As You Are - picked by JanePS. I gave it 2 stars. I didn't like either MC in this story, and while most people seemed to like the beginning, I just couldn't get into it. I don't know if it was my mood or if the author's writing style just isn't for me.

Fire Down Below - picked by Debbie. I DNF'd this one. I'm not sure if the author's other books are like this one and I should stay away from her period, or if it's just this series, but she was trying too hard for this to be raunchy/funny, and it just came across as over-the-top and obnoxious.

message 221: by Mai (new)

Mai | 362 comments I finished another one: The Girl in the Steel Corset was recommended by Becca. I gave it three (and a half) stars - I really liked the world building and characters and I'm going to continue the series :)

Too bad you didn't enjoy As You Are, Dre :( The MC is really OTT and very self-absorbed, so I can see he could be hard to like.

message 223: by Skandia (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 972 comments I've done with first two books -
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, 3 stars
A bit of a disappointment. I have loved all of RR's other books but this was maybe too YA. It just didn't click. My heart broke for Eleanor, though.
Thanks, Becky, for rec!

Wait for You by J.Lynn, 4 stars
I liked this college NA book. Jennifer L. Armintrout writing has always been good for me. Main character Cam was just adorable and so patient with Avery.
Thanks, Ty, for rec!

message 224: by Elke (new)

Elke (ejurca) | 1810 comments Finished my first book Suddenly One Summer by Julie James -recommended by Dana. 4 stars! It was a quick and easy fun read! Julie James doesn't disappoint!!

Holli | 182 comments Forgot to post this. I finished a book for Group 3.

Diane ~Firefly~, thanks for picking Master of Ecstasy (Mackenzie Vampires, #1) by Nina Bangs for me. I wanted to continue this series and needed to re-read this one. I think I read it when it first came out and only remembered bits and pieces of it. A bit dark, but a fast and fun read. 4 star book.

fleurette | 287 comments Done with my second read - Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye recommended by KarenH. It was a really sweet novella, I'm glad I read it. I gave it 3.5 star. My full review.

message 231: by Mai (new)

Mai | 362 comments I finished Moonglow (Darkest London, #2) by Kristen Callihan and loved it - ★★★★½, the only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars was the ending, which in my opinion was a little quick (but still very satisfying). I look forward to the rest of this series. Thank you, LaurLa, for the great pick!

message 232: by Skandia (last edited Jun 05, 2015 11:10PM) (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 972 comments Finished final book in Readhead series The Redhead Plays Her Hand (Redhead, #3) by Alice Clayton - 5 stars!

I loved this series! There was real chemistry and love between main characters and it was hot! So good! I think this trilogy is even better than Clayton's famous Wallbanger series.
Thanks, Lily, for the rec!

message 235: by Caipi (new)

Caipi (bookaholic17) | 1375 comments Just finished my first book, Zero at the Bone (Zero at the Bone, #1) by Jane Seville recommended by Preethi.
Honestly, it's hard for me to rate this book. It seems that everyone loves it. And yes, there are great MCs and secondary characters, an intense love story, a lot of suspense and action and even some humor but somehow it just didn't work for me. I didn't really feel the chemistry and I'm still not sure how to feel about D's past as an assassin.
Maybe this is one of these books which I've to read at least twice to really get it?
So I'll give it 3 stars for now and reread it sometime.

message 236: by Dre (new)

Dre (drez80) | 18 comments Done with my 4th book:

Painted Faces - picked by Unusual Child (beppy). I gave it 3 stars. I really wanted to love this book. It was intriguing to have a drag queen MC who is straight, but the book seemed long to me, and I thought the female MC Freda was a bitch. She'd flirt with and tease Nicholas, but when he'd touch her or talk about sex she'd get really bitchy and tell him to back off, so I never felt an chemistry between them. I did like Nicholas though; I just don't know what he saw in Freda.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 86 comments Finished my first book!
Chosen by Gle:
Summer at Willow Lake (Lakeshore Chronicles, #1) by Susan Wiggs
Read: 6/6/15
Rating: ***

I liked the characters for the most part, enjoyed the multiple storylines that were woven throughout, but I really didn't like the misunderstandings between the two main love interests and how long it took for them to get together! Drove me nuts, every time they would have a misunderstanding. I will continue the series, though, because it's light and breezy and easy to read, especially during the summer when I look for those types of books.

Rating 3.5 stars
cinderella is my favorite book, my first read besides(view spoiler)
I love Cinderella and the story make some references to my all time favorite. But although Cinderella is a fairy tale Seducing Cinderella left me with a couple of rolling eyes. I mean... her pu.... tasted like the "sweetest of nectars" and her mouth was tasting like "sweet ambrosia"
*really*
I loved the HEA.

KellyJo, thanks for the recommendation.
