Charlotte | 271 comments Hey everyone!
Checking in for team 3. I am so excited for this readathon, it seems super fun!! I have never participated in one before, but I have done other team events, and I'm excited to try this one! I have already put some books down that I am going to try to read for the readathon. They all work for multiple tasks, so I can put them in any of those (based on where everyone else's books fit).
So excited to get to know everyone and to read together!!
Feel free to add me as a friend!

Susan | 567 comments Hey all! I'm super excited to participate in another TEAM readathon. I really enjoyed the one in February and can't wait to see where this one takes me!

I got a little too excited about this readathon and I'm already planning which books I want to read. I figured I should introduce myself, I'm Susan, a wife and mom and giant nerd. I love to read and listen to books. I've surpassed my goal already this year. I am co-leading this Readathon with Jennifer. Does anyone have any ideas for a team name?

message 5: by D.L. (new)

D.L. | 1515 comments Hi, everybody! I'm glad to be a part of another read-a-thon. Life has been crazy this past month, so I truly need an excuse to kick back and read some good books & enjoy some good company too. I will review the prompts and jot down some ideas on the spreadsheet.

I am absolutely drawing a blank on team names right now, sorry lol

message 6: by D.L. (last edited Jul 11, 2025 11:07AM) (new)

D.L. | 1515 comments Okay, I did think of one possible team name, but I'm not sure if it works lol

She's a 10

(since decades are ten years and a ten is a winner)

ETA: My mom also thought of one: Tens of Books (tens of course replacing the word tons)

message 7: by Susan, Games & Events (new)

Susan | 567 comments I asked google...here are some decade type names. They maybe a little too decade specific, but it's something to work from.

Flapper Fiction Fanatics
The Jazz Age Readers
Gatsby's Bookworms
Depression-Era Devourers
Swing into Stories
Victory Volume Voyagers
Rosie the Reader Riveters
Rock 'n' Roll Readers
Suburban Storytellers
I Love Lucy Literature Lovers
Elvis's Book Buddies
Hippie Historians
British Invasion Bibliophiles
Woodstock Wordsmiths.
Flower Power Fables
Disco Divas & Dudes
Funky Fiction Fanatics

Whitney Biggs | 479 comments Hi everyone! I'm excited to participate in another readathon with all you wonderful people. This is my second readathon. I had a lot of fun with the last one and looking forward to this one.

My name is Whitney. I live in Tennessee, USA. In the "real world", I am a medical social worker. Outside of my love of books, I am a sports fanatic and love cheering on my favorite teams. In fact, I just got back from Minnesota to watch my beloved Chicago Cubs play. My bucket list includes watching the Cubs play in every ballpark, so I'm happy I got to cross off another ballpark from the list.

As for team names, I am not very creative on my own, so I asked ChatGPT for suggestions. Here are a few:

The Timelocked Tome Team
From Flappers to Futurists
Chaptered in Time

My goal is to read 3 books. I'm adding my tentative books to the spreadsheet, but I'm open to changing them around if needed.

Theresa | 840 comments Hello, team!

The only idea for a team name I have come up with is: Just Passin' Through. It's from a song.

I have one book I've been reading that fits some prompts. I will definitely leave 100 pages or more, so we can use it.

I have another book planned. I have a few others to decide on a little further into this event.

Good Luck!

message 11: by Whitney (new)

Whitney Biggs | 479 comments I do have a question.

Can children's books count toward the prompts (as long as it has 100 pages)?

I ask because I have been re-reading my old Baby-Sitters Club books from my childhood and will probably end up reading one of them during the readathon.

Hi, D.L.
You should be able to change the number 1 to the correct number of prompts that fit. I had to change a 3 to a 4 for the count to be accurate for my first book added. I'm checking my second book now.

It happened to one of my books as well. It said that it fit 2 promts even though I had 3 marked down, so I just changed it manually :)

Charlotte | 271 comments Question: Should we delete the example from the spreadsheet?
What does an older main character mean (like what age)?
And if it is a biography from when they were a kid to an adult of like 50 y.o. would that count as an older main character or not because he wasn't old for the whole book?

message 17: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte | 271 comments I asked Chat GPT for some good decades names and some book names in general:

The Time Travelers

Decade Divas/Dudes

The Roaring Readers

Centuries of Stories

The Era Explorers

The Vintage Volumes

The Chronological Characters

The Page Turners

The Bookworms through Time

Shelf Indulgence

The Literary Legends

The Prose Patrol

Chapter Chasers

The Narrative Navigators

Well-Read Wanderers

The Plot Thickens

Tome Raiders

Decade-nt Readers

The Chronological Chapters

Past-Page Pioneers

The Retro Reads

The History Hounds

The Time-Tested Tales

The Golden Age of Readers

The Future-Forward Folios

It's a lot...I know lol ; D

message 18: by D.L. (new)

D.L. | 1515 comments I do like Decade-nt Readers from that list :)

I deleted the example. I also asked the other moderators about your additional questions...still awaiting an answer, but from my standpoint, as long as a book is at least 100 pages you're good to read it. I think for the older adult book, a biography from kid to older adult would be okay. I'll let you know if I hear anything different.

message 21: by Susan, Games & Events (new)

Susan | 567 comments I like The Era Explorers as a team name.

message 22: by Susan, Games & Events (last edited Jul 12, 2025 11:35AM) (new)

Susan | 567 comments HELPFUL INFO & REMINDERS

The readathon begins and ends at midnight in your timezone .

Only include books that are at least 100 pages long, or if you have 100 pages left at the start of the readathon. Graphic novels/comics and screenplays do not count.

Point System
Books for double and triple prompts cannot be redeemed for points until all 2 or 3 books have been completed. The point breakdown is as follows:

Singles: 50 POINTS PER PROMPT COMPLETED
Doubles: 150 POINTS PER PROMPT COMPLETED
Triples: 300 POINTS PER PROMPT COMPLETED

Pages Read: 1 POINT PER PAGE
Audiobook Hours: Please use the Goodreads most popular hardcover edition of your book in the language you read it in to calculate page points. If your book does not have a hardcover edition, please use paperback. If paperback is unavailable, use Kindle. And if all else fails, use the old formula to calculate page points (15 hours = 1,000 pages)

Susan | 567 comments I love seeing everyone’s plans for this readathon! We’re still missing a couple team mates, hopefully they’ll check in with us soon! Let’s nail down our team name by the end of the weekend.

message 25: by Theresa, Readathons (new)

Theresa | 840 comments I like the Era Explorers too.

message 26: by Whitney (new)

Whitney Biggs | 479 comments Thanks Susan and Theresa for answering my question about children's books! It's not a graphic novel so it counts!

As for the name, Era Explorers work for me.

message 31: by Susan, Games & Events (new)

Susan | 567 comments Happy to see Denise now! Just missing our team leader, Jennifer. Hopefully she checks her messages soon. I messaged her Friday about co-leading and still haven’t heard from her.

message 32: by Susan, Games & Events (new)

Susan | 567 comments Hello! We have a few votes for Era Explorers, do we want to use that as our team name? I still haven’t heard from our team leader.

message 33: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte | 271 comments Sounds good by me!
If anyone is against it, another one that I vote for is The Bookworms through Time

message 34: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte | 271 comments What will happen if our team leader doesn't check in?

message 35: by Susan, Games & Events (new)

Susan | 567 comments Think we’ll just be down a reader. I’m the co-leader and can make sure the spreadsheet is filled out correctly

message 36: by Susan, Games & Events (new)

Susan | 567 comments What about combining the two ideas with The Bookworm Explorers?

message 37: by Theresa, Readathons (last edited Jul 15, 2025 04:26PM) (new)

Theresa | 840 comments Bookworms Exploring? Maybe? I'm good with most anything, at this point. The other teams all have their new names.

I'm hoping to get the current book down to the last 120 pages or so, before the readathon.

I'll be away for medical reasons for the first 2-3 days of the readathon. After that I'll be here at home mostly, unless I get out in the world with my husband. (No driving for me for a few weeks)

Maybe Jennifer will join us before too much of the readathon gets away.

GO Team!

message 38: by D.L. (last edited Jul 15, 2025 05:39PM) (new)

D.L. | 1515 comments I'll go with whatever everyone else decides. Let's just pick something lol

message 39: by Theresa, Readathons (last edited Jul 15, 2025 08:55PM) (new)

Theresa | 840 comments The original publication date can be used, whatever edition you read.

Enjoy the readathon!

message 40: by Susan, Games & Events (new)

Susan | 567 comments I agree just choose a name and update ours, Bookworms Exploring is good. Theresa will you update our name?

message 41: by Denise (new)

Denise | 436 comments We can use an in progress book as long as it has 100+ pages left as of Friday, correct?

message 42: by Denise (new)

Denise | 436 comments I am not necessarily locked into the books I planned so I can switch them out for books from the 50's 60's or 1910's if needed. We currently have 0 for those

Whitney Biggs | 479 comments So, I made the list below for myself. But, I wanted to post just in case it's helpful for anyone else. The first page of the spreadsheet always stresses me out because it's hard for me to pinpoint which prompts need attention. I used all the books already listed in the spreadsheet. Of course books can be moved around or changed, but I placed books in the triples and doubles first. This is just to get a more general sense of where we might be lacking.

I appreciate this list because spreadsheets and me so don't mix lol The only thing I would change is I think I would add "Saturday Night" as the second book for "Day or month in title" since that is harder to fill than book from the 80's. Just a thought :)

message 50: by Whitney (new)

Whitney Biggs | 479 comments That makes sense, D.L. I changed it. Honestly, I didn't look at the titles when I was making the list. I was just trying to put as many books in the triples as I could. But, I agree. The "Day or Month" would be harder to fill than the decades.
