TEAM Bookworms Exploring - Through The Decades

Checking in for team 3. I am so excited for this readathon, it seems super fun!! I have never participated in one before, but I have done other team events, and I'm excited to try this one! I have already put some books down that I am going to try to read for the readathon. They all work for multiple tasks, so I can put them in any of those (based on where everyone else's books fit).

I got a little too excited about this readathon and I'm already planning which books I want to read. I figured I should introduce myself, I'm Susan, a wife and mom and giant nerd. I love to read and listen to books. I've surpassed my goal already this year. I am co-leading this Readathon with Jennifer. Does anyone have any ideas for a team name?

I am absolutely drawing a blank on team names right now, sorry lol

She's a 10
(since decades are ten years and a ten is a winner)
ETA: My mom also thought of one: Tens of Books (tens of course replacing the word tons)

My name is Whitney. I live in Tennessee, USA. In the "real world", I am a medical social worker. Outside of my love of books, I am a sports fanatic and love cheering on my favorite teams. In fact, I just got back from Minnesota to watch my beloved Chicago Cubs play. My bucket list includes watching the Cubs play in every ballpark, so I'm happy I got to cross off another ballpark from the list.
As for team names, I am not very creative on my own, so I asked ChatGPT for suggestions. Here are a few:
The Timelocked Tome Team
From Flappers to Futurists
Chaptered in Time
My goal is to read 3 books. I'm adding my tentative books to the spreadsheet, but I'm open to changing them around if needed.

The only idea for a team name I have come up with is: Just Passin' Through. It's from a song.
I have one book I've been reading that fits some prompts. I will definitely leave 100 pages or more, so we can use it.
I have another book planned. I have a few others to decide on a little further into this event.
Good Luck!

Can children's books count toward the prompts (as long as it has 100 pages)?
I ask because I have been re-reading my old Baby-Sitters Club books from my childhood and will probably end up reading one of them during the readathon.

I hope so! I love the BSC!!

Hi, D.L.
You should be able to change the number 1 to the correct number of prompts that fit. I had to change a 3 to a 4 for the count to be accurate for my first book added. I'm checking my second book now.

It happened to one of my books as well. It said that it fit 2 promts even though I had 3 marked down, so I just changed it manually :)

What does an older main character mean (like what age)?
And if it is a biography from when they were a kid to an adult of like 50 y.o. would that count as an older main character or not because he wasn't old for the whole book?

I deleted the example. I also asked the other moderators about your additional questions...still awaiting an answer, but from my standpoint, as long as a book is at least 100 pages you're good to read it. I think for the older adult book, a biography from kid to older adult would be okay. I'll let you know if I hear anything different.

The readathon begins and ends at midnight in your timezone .
Only include books that are at least 100 pages long, or if you have 100 pages left at the start of the readathon. Graphic novels/comics and screenplays do not count.
Point System
Books for double and triple prompts cannot be redeemed for points until all 2 or 3 books have been completed. The point breakdown is as follows:
Singles: 50 POINTS PER PROMPT COMPLETED
Doubles: 150 POINTS PER PROMPT COMPLETED
Triples: 300 POINTS PER PROMPT COMPLETED
Pages Read: 1 POINT PER PAGE
Audiobook Hours: Please use the Goodreads most popular hardcover edition of your book in the language you read it in to calculate page points. If your book does not have a hardcover edition, please use paperback. If paperback is unavailable, use Kindle. And if all else fails, use the old formula to calculate page points (15 hours = 1,000 pages)

If they're not considered graphic novels.

As for the name, Era Explorers work for me.

Great thanks!

That happens to the best of us! ;D

If anyone is against it, another one that I vote for is The Bookworms through Time

I'm hoping to get the current book down to the last 120 pages or so, before the readathon.
I'll be away for medical reasons for the first 2-3 days of the readathon. After that I'll be here at home mostly, unless I get out in the world with my husband. (No driving for me for a few weeks)
Maybe Jennifer will join us before too much of the readathon gets away.
GO Team!

Yes :)

Sounds good!! I'm planning on doing that as well

I appreciate this list because spreadsheets and me so don't mix lol The only thing I would change is I think I would add "Saturday Night" as the second book for "Day or month in title" since that is harder to fill than book from the 80's. Just a thought :)
