I have been wanting to read it for forever, but it never seems like the right time haha.

It's really good! Liking it better than 1984 :)

I, personally, like Bradbury despite his sometimes long sentences. However, I don't know if I would want to read Fahrenheit 451 and 1984 in the same week like Susan. :)
If you enjoy his novels, I recommend reading some of his short story collections like The Martian Chronicles or I Sing the Body Electric! & Other Stories.

I agree...not sure why I took both books on! Finished Farenheit 451 though!

Susan wrote: "Yes! I'll update the spreadsheet this evening. I can't get to it from work."No problem! I did go through the spreadsheet about an hour ago and made sure everything is coherent between the three. I also moved things around on the "Planning" tab so that the completed books are at the end and the TBR/currently reading books are at the front and grouped by person. I fixed the word wrap problem Denise was having.

Thanks for the update!! Are the only prompts left (unclaimed) Unit of time in title and historical fiction or am I mistaken?
Charlotte wrote: "Thanks for the update!! Are the only prompts left (unclaimed) Unit of time in title and historical fiction or am I mistaken?"That is correct. I updated the post on page 3 of the forum, but I did not transfer it, like I have been with the full list.
I am on track according to my schedule, I will wrap up and post Hitch-22 tonight and prob both others by Friday
I think this is my favorite quote from one of the books I've read, so far: "His insane neighbor begins to look threatening. '[That cat's] probably full of disgusting diseases and rabies and all sorts of things!' Ove looks at the cat. Looks at [his neighbor]. Nods. 'And so are you, most likely. But we don’t throw stones at you because of it.'"
― Fredrik Backman, A Man Called Ove
Has anyone else come across some good quotes while reading?
I finished Showdown at the Mall, which I read for the 90s prompt. It's fewer pages than the book (One True Thing) I planned on reading, but I really needed something lighter today.ETA: Added it to the tracking sheet.

Ok! Thanks!

I love that one!
I have found a few quotes, my two favorites are both from The Mysterious Affair at Styles:
"Imagination is a good servant, and a bad master."
"You cannot mix up sentiment and reason."
Currently I am ahead of schedule to finishing, so I may be able to read an extra book if I have time!
I finished Murder on the Orient Express so I will be starting The Murder of Roger Ackroyd later today,In addition, I added The Phantom of the Opera to the spreadsheet, since I will have time to read it. The only spot it fit was historical fiction (single), so I placed it there unfortuntately.
Not like that's a bad thing, but I wished it fit somewhere were we could get more points, but it's still better than no points haha :D

I loved A Man Called Ove. I need to start writing down favorite quotes. I know I've came across ones, but never write them down...

I agree! Any points are better than no points! Hoping we can get some bonus points as well! I'm going to finish 1984 today and I started The Joy Luck Club last night.

Great job!!
How is 1984? I've been wanting to read it ;-)
Happy reading!!

It's pretty good, but I'm having a hard time getting through it. Some parts are boring.
Denise wrote: "Finished Hitch-22 on schedule and posted to spreadsheet"Super! That gave us a triple!
Whitney wrote: "Finished Mary Anne and the Secret in the Attic. Added to tracking spreadsheet. :)"Good work! That gave us another triple!
D.L. wrote: "I finished Showdown at the Mall, which I read for the 90s prompt. It's fewer pages than the book (One True Thing) I planned on reading, but I really needed something lighter today..."Great! That completes a third triple today!

I think Orwell's Animal Farm is a little easier than 1984, but the ending had me in tears.
I love the Joy Luck Club, so I would be interested to hear how you like that.

That is absolutely fine. That leaves us with unit of time in the title, and then we move on to books published/taking place in the 2020s. :)

Yeah, I have heard that some parts can be boring, but some people I know absolutely love it. I feel like it is a very hit or miss for most people.
I added The Princess Priscilla's Fortnight to pick up the unit of time. If anyone finishes their reading, they should work on 2020 bonus books. :)
I finished Kindred. Added to tracking spreadsheet.Started The Razor’s Edge and Old Yeller tonight. Turns out Old Yeller is longer than I was expecting. The Goodreads page for the ISBN I'm reading is showing 100 pages, but in reality, it's about 180 pages. I should still be able to finish it since it's a quick read.
Still reading The Villa and Good Dirt.
I'm on track to finish all of my books by the end of the readathon.
Finsished The Joy Luck Club. Gotta get through Eye of the Needle next. I'm already 25% in. My sister is coming to visit this weekend, so that's going to slow me down. However I amazed myself in this readathon by finishing more prompts than originally planned. Great job to everyone!
Whitney wrote: "I finished Kindred. Added to tracking spreadsheet.Started The Razor’s Edge and Old Yeller tonight. Turns out Old Yeller is longer than I was ..."
I thought 100 pages was a little low for Old Yeller.
Jennifer wrote: "Bleh. I thought I would like The Time Traveler's Wife, but it is 500 pages of boring."Bummer! I liked The Time Traveler's Wife.
Susan wrote: "Jennifer wrote: "Bleh. I thought I would like The Time Traveler's Wife, but it is 500 pages of boring."Bummer! I liked The Time Traveler's Wife."
I do feel the author did a good job telling the story while jumping through time. I just felt there were a lot of things, like the pool room scene, that were long and did not move the story forward.
Jennifer wrote: "I thought 100 pages was a little low for Old Yeller."That's what I though, too. But, I was being cautiously optimistic because of the page discrepancy with the BSC book. That's what I get for not actually opening the ebook until I was ready to start it. Oh well.
I finished a "non prompt" book today, Hope Rides Again, I added it to the spreadsheet under pub in 2010s but feel free to move it else where. I wanted to get credit since I've been reading it on the side this last week.
Susan wrote: "I finished a "non prompt" book today, Hope Rides Again, I added it to the spreadsheet under pub in 2010s but feel free to move it else where. I wanted to get credit since I've been ..."I will probably leave it there and move another book if needed since it has a high page count. :)
I finished the books I committed to. I added them to "completed" on the spreadsheet. I don't know where to put Ducks, Newburyport, it was supposed to go under 2010's but that topic is filled alreadyI put it for now under non-prompt but it didn't give us any points
I can finish something else ing anyone can't do a prompt, otherwise I will start a book from the 2020's

I am running behind schedule with my books. No worries, if you don't.
