Currently reading? Just finished? 2024
I am kicking off November by looking at
Murder at Marble House by Alyssa Maxwell https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Why have I waited so long to read this classic? The Big Sleep is the first in Raymond Chandler's iconic private eye series featuring Philip Marlowe. I can sure see why it would have raised some eyebrows back then.
My review of The Big Sleep
Just finished “Blood Oranges” by JM Cannon & currently finally reading “the silent patient” Add me :)
The Resistance Man
by Martin WalkerIn this 'Bruno, Chief of Police' book, set in France, Bruno investigates a murder and a series of robberies.
There's too much going on in this book, but the dog is cute. 3 stars

Dead Mountain: The Untold True Story of the Dyatlov Pass Incident
by Donnie EicharAfter reading the fiction book
, based on the Dyatlov Pass Incident, I was inspired to read the real deal. In a few words, nine Soviet mountaineers perished in mysterious circumstances in 1959. No one knows exactly what happened and people have been speculating forever.
Author Donnie Eichar did an IMMENSE amount of research for this book, and he tells the story of the Dyatlov Pass Incident very well.....along with his own theories.
Good book. 4 stars

A couple more fun ones from Amazon's Busybodies Collection, cosy mysteries.Crime of Fashion by Emma Rosenblum takes place at a fashion shoot where a minor underling is accused of stealing a necklace worth $3million! Poor kid.
My review of Crime of Fashion~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Nosy Neighbor is by Nita Prose, who wrote the popular The Maid, among other things. It seemed straightforward, but I should have known better. Nicely twisty.
My review of The Nosy Neighbor

My next stop this week was
A Matter of Life and Depths, the second Cruising Sisters Mystery from K.B. Jackson https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read Righteous Strife: How Warring Religious Nationalists Forged Lincoln's Union by Richard Carwardine It is not a mystery, but a scholarly book on how religious denominations reacted to the civil war, slavery and secession. I recommend it to anyone interested in how religious beliefs influenced viewpoints on the above subjects. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Night Before Christmas at Dunder Mifflin by Ben Silverman and Brian BaumgartnerThis illustrated riff on The Night Before Christmas is for fans of 'The Office' (the TV show starring Steve Carell and a great cast.) It would make a good stocking stuffer.
Fun poem with cute illustrations. 4 stars

I recently enjoyed the third and fourth novellas from the excellent Wisdom Tree series of five by Aussie author Nick Earls.. It's worth having a look at his Goodreads bio. He's an interesting guy and a talented, insightful writer. The titles are the cities in which the stories take place.

The Little Sister
by Raymond ChandlerPhilip Marlowe #5. Taking a case from little miss nobody Marlowe gets enmeshed in a complicated plot involving a beautiful Hollywood starlet and her gangster boyfriend. Chandler's style and use of language is again at the top of the genre. Without a doubt one of the finest stylists ever to write a mystery. 5 stars.

I have read nine mystery/thriller novels by Fesperman over the last two years. Haven't found a bad one yet. I hope this latest book keeps that string going.
