A Killer’s Wife
is a fun legal thriller which only occassionally strolls into OTT territory. My 3.5 star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Jewish Voices: Inspiring & Empowering Quotes from Global Thought Leaders by Dana RubinAuthor Dana Rubin has compiled quotes from Jewish men and women about a variety of topics; the book is gorgeously illustrated by three Jewish artists and would make a nice gift. 5 stars

Morning All,I've just finished Ink Ribbon Red
by Alex Pavesi due to be published on 7th November 2024I struggled to get into it but I'm glad I stuck with it as it's a very inventive book.
Here's my 3.5 star review

The Reunion Dinner by Jesse Q. Sutanto is the second "busybody" story in Amazon's collection of six. They are short, quirky mysteries that I read as an entertaining break between books.
My review of The Reunion Dinner
On a more serious note, I'm glad I decided to give Orbital by Samantha Harvey a try. It's on the Booker Prize short list, and I'm happy to say I can see why they chose it.
My review of Orbital
I read Devils Island by Midge Raymond It is set on a fictional island off the coast of Tasmania, Australia. The authors are American. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Good stuff for one-afternoon #Deathtober reading. A trip into 1950s France, only not at all glamourous. More in Simenon's vein than Delacorta's.

I read Robert B. Parker's Buzz Kill by Alison Gaylin It is book 12 in the Sunny Randall series, started by the late Robert B. Parker and now written by a series of successor authors, authorized by the Parker estate. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Act of Revenge
by Robert TanenbaumButch Karp #11. A double murder in Chinatown involves Lucy and soon the whole family as well as the cops and the Feds. Mob hits, Asian assassins, Tong wars and murderous ex-husbands. This one has all this and more. Very exciting, I liked it a lot. 4 stars.
Would You Like to Choose the Race? is the thought-provoking question suggested by Arvind Ethan David in his clever 'Earworm' series dramatisation.
My review of Would You Like to Choose the Race?
George Saunders is one of the very best short story writers. He reveres the Russian masters. I, on the other hand, prefer his work, like the moving, inventive, bizarre stories in Tenth of December. What an imagination!
My review of Tenth of December
The Quiet Damage
tackles the mystery of why 25% of Americans believe in QAnon and those beliefs. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Note
is decent, but forgettable, entertainment. My 3.5 star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Now starting NIGHT OVER WATER by Ken Follett, one of his WWII thriller novels published back in 1991.I enjoyed both of his previous novels set during World War II: EYE OF THE NEEDLE (1978) and THE KEY TO REBECCA (1980). But I didn't care much for his non-WWII novel THE MAN FROM ST. PETERSBURG (1982), so I am going back to sample his WWII themed stuff.
The skies of the Scottish Hebrides in Peter May's Lewis Trilogy mysteries are often as dark as the covers suggest, but the people's stories are fascinating. The Chessmen was the last, but a new fourth one just came out that I'm looking forward to. A trilogy+1?
My review of The Chessmen

Death at the Sign of the Rook by Kate Atkinson starts off with her unconventional PI Jackson Brodie investigating an art theft and ends in a Christie-esque type scenario with a group of strangers snow bound in a crumbling mansion. Loved it!review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished: A passage to India. I struggled with it. It failed to capture my interest. I know it's hailed as a great but, not for me.
Post Office by Charles Bukowski. Bukowski’s semi-autobiographical, irreverent anecdotes from working a dead-end job, getting drunk and chasing women. I loved it.
My Review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just finished a couple a good holiday reads that were nice reads, with the first one being a hot and steamy Hallmark romcom.

I'm not home at the moment so I haven't posted about it yet. But I definitely will, since I finally finished it. The good news is that I moved on to an
awesome book, which I haven't put down all day called The Cracked Mirror, by Chris Brookmyre. So good! I had to buy it from Blackwell's in the UK, but I really wanted to read it. Makes up for the dull read before that.
