I liked The Blue Hour
but don’t expect a fast paced thriller. It’s a character rich slow burn. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

A Little White Death
by John LawtonInspector Troy #3/#8. This is the 3rd book Lawton published in the Troy series but is the last in the Troy story. It's 1963 in London and it's the start of the Swingin' 60's. Troy helps an old friend defect to Russia and when he returns to England soon becomes entangled in 2 suicides which might be murder, along with the political and social upheaval of the time. Spies and lies abound as Troy works to sort out the truth and punish the wicked as he tries to not get beat up or shot again. Sorry to say this is the end of the Troy series although Lawton is still alive so there's hope. This is authorship at a high level -- 4 stars.
The Truth about the Devlins

I had no idea that The Cold Cold Ground was set in the time and place where Adrian McKinty grew up - Belfast during The Troubles. It's the first of his Detective Sean Duffy series. I read book 6 and wanted to see where Duffy started. Glad I did.
My Review of The Cold Cold Ground

Just finished McMillion$. It is the story about the fraud associated with the wildly popular McDonalds Monopoly game.
Reading "I am Pilgrim" by Terry Hayes. This was recommend by so many people but 90% through find it very underwhelming.
The writing feels too rambling and unnecessarily lazy.

Ah, Treachery
by Ross ThomasAbsolutely wonderful tale of political intrigue mixed with murder and dark humor in a plot I couldn't begin to explain. I believe this is Thomas' last book. Too bad. Completely entertaining. 5 stars.

I'm really enjoying it so far. She's such a good writer. Drop by the Pulp Fiction group and discuss it with us if you get a chance, Nancy.

My time is not my own for like two weeks -- heading to Atlantic City for a very long wedding weekend) then back home a couple of days before we go off to the forest for a sorely-needed quiet time cabin stay. I'll check it out when I get back.

The Malta Exchange

Adventure story with dollops of Christian history and conspiracy theories that compare well to the da vinci code, a story which every new book in this vertical is compared with.
Fantastic Thriller. Historical Fiction. Mystery.
All rolled in one.

Hi All,I've just finished reading an advanced review copy of Happy Bloody Christmas
The book is due to be published on 26th September and I highly recommend giving it a read. Its a solveable whodunnit that I found laugh out loud funny, in a good way.
Here's my 5star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished Mercy Falls
by William Kent KruegerThis is the 5th book in the Cork O'Connor series, published in 2005. I'm not going to review these early books but I'll give a capsule summary.
After a scandal surrounding the previous Sheriff's Department, Cork is sheriff of Aurora, Minnestota again. Somebody might be unhappy about this, because a sniper tries to kill Cork.
Meanwhile, there's a homicide in Aurora: a Chicago promoter who's trying to make a business deal with the Ojibwe Indian Casino is stabbed to death.
These two inquiries come together as the story unfolds.
Plenty of action and adventure in the book, as usual with this series. 4 stars
I read Silent Are the Dead by D.M. Rowell It is a mystery set on the Kiowa reservation in Oklahoma. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

This is a great series. I am up to Northwest Angle.
Miss Morgan’s Book Brigade
would have warranted a full five stars if not for the dreaded second timeline. Still, a solid four star read. My review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
