Option 2

Delusion in Death 381 pgs
10/31/23 - 3 stars - This one started out really good, but dragged quite a bit in the middle. Not my favorite of the series. As always, the character interactions were great!

Correct, you need to have one book finished before the next theme is announced, Friday late afternoon/early evening EDT, which would be Saturday morning your time. Jane will usually have a bit of a grace period since the time the new theme is announced will vary slightly from week to week, but ideally you'd be done before you go to bed Friday night, to be safe. You also have the option to take a pass this week. If you did that it would give you another week to hopefully get caught up. If you decide you'd like to do that, just do a new selection post that just says "PASS". whichever option you prefer is fine.

Option 2

Glory in Death by J.D. Robb
Date Read: 11/02
Rating: 4 stars
Review: Glory in Death. Totally team Eve and Roarke. Though I still don't like Eve that much maybe because of her past trauma. Though I loved her skills when it comes to deduction and solving murder. Book two was kinda better than the first, loved how complicated the case is, I wasn't sure about the murderer not until the second half of the book when small details were emphasized. Truly a wonderful book. Well written and loved the audio!

Option 1

Review: This was just wonderful! It's a reread, and I loved Charlie and Travis together as much this time as the first time. The secondary characters were all great, too. The descriptions also really worked for me...I have a very strong mental picture of the area. Having never been to the Outback, or anywhere in Australia for that matter, I have no idea how accurate what I'm imagining is, but it definitely added to my enjoyment of the story. I listened to the audio version, and as always Joel Leslie did an amazing job!

Stick Shift by K.M. Neuhold

Pages: 276 pgs/GR
Read: Nov-3
Rating: 4 stars
This is the perfect read to give you the warm fuzzies on a cold night. Red has held a torch for his straight best friend, Journey, for years. Now he’s back and maybe not so straight. This is a low-angst, sweet, friends-to-lovers story with the humor and fun that KM Neuhold is known for.

Option 1

Ghost Story
11/2 - 4.5 stars - Wow! This was so good! I don't want to say too much & spoil previous books. This one was a little different than others in this series. Not as much interaction with the usual characters and we got to see the ghost-y side of Chicago.
The fact that I'm 13 books in with pretty much zero romance says a lot.

Review: This was AMAZING. I loooved Erik as a love interest. I love blonde men, and I love accents on men, and I love HONEST men who TRY and APOLOGISE and try everything in their power to make things right. I can't wait to read the other 2 novellas

How it fits: 490 (over 300 pages)
Pages: DNFed at 52% (254 pages)
Date read: 5/11/23
Review: DNFed at 52%. I experienced the first smut scene and I could no longer continue reading. The plot was interesting enough so I might look up what happens but I can't get through more of that kind of smut. The writing was TERRIBLE and so off-putting. Am very glad that I read this before buying the special editions of the series

Option 1

Rating: 4 stars
Review: Lisa Jackson can write some really sick, twisted bad guys in her RS stories, and this was no exception. Former Hollywood star Jenna is being stalked by a "fan" who is, at the same time, kidnapping women who resemble her and using them to recreate Jenna in her more famous movie parts. All this is taking place in rural Oregon in the middle of the worst winter in over 100 years, with road closures, power outages, and whatever else Mother Nature can throw at them. Lots of potential suspects, I didn't figure out who the bad guy was until right at the end. Overall I enjoyed the story, but I do think it dragged a bit in places and would have been better if shortened a bit. Fortunately that part didn't bother me as much as it would have if I'd read the book rather than listening to the audio because the narrator, Carol Monda, did a great job and was very easy to listen to.

Calculated in Death - 11/5 - 3 stars - Eve and Roarke continue to be one of my favorite couples. And Peabody is my favorite side character. She never fails to make me grin! This story was a little on the boring side for me. Not as much action as the other books - lots of firms, accountants, auditors.... snooze!

Week 6 - Option 1
Frog by Mary Calmes

How it Qualifies: #10 on the list- Gay Cowboys- https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...
Read date - 4.11.2023
Rating - 4.5 stars
Review - This is my second reread and its still a good book for me. The MCs are in usual Mary Calmes style with a near perfect guy whom everyone loves and gushes about, including the animals. I don't think they exist in real life, but its good to read this fantasy. I usually read her books once a year so that the extreme sweetness is not putting me off.

Dear Daddy, Please Praise Me by Luna David

Pages: 233 pgs/GR
Read: Nov-8
Rating: 4 stars
Oh so adorable and a great Daddy/boy Christmas story. Sanders is beyond cute and is a walking disaster, balancing running his coffee shop, going to school, caring for his mom, and still hoping to find that Daddy he dreams of. Briggs is new to town and can’t believe his luck that the boy on the dating app is everything he’s ever dreamed of. This is a Hallmark movie sappy-sexy story that is just perfect to get you in the mood for the season.

Option 1

A Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham
Pages: 357
Date Read: 11/6
Rating: 3 stars
Review: A Flicker in the Dark is a mystery thriller novel. A story of Chloe Davis, a psychologist with traumatic past that has shaped the rest of her life. At twelve Chloe’s father was arrested and sent to prison labeled a serial killer after six teenage girls had gone missing in their small town. The story was a compelling one to read with an unreliable flawed narrator and plenty of red herrings among the twists and turns. I will say though as someone that reads a lot of thrillers I didn’t find the outcome shocking, it was obvious at the beginning. But I enjoyed reading this one. Will definitely be exploring more books of the author
